Avatar m tn I learned the next day that he has been HIV positive for over 17 years, had an active disease at one point, has been on anti-retroviral regiment (currently on Ziagen, didanosine and lexiva) for years and has had undetectable viral load since 1999 (over 10 years). Naturally, I am freaking out. I read about PEP. Can anyone recommend what the best move I can make now?
Avatar m tn hbsag relapsed and it is obvious hbsag was too high when you stopped tdf, only hbsag less than 100iu/ml have chances to clear
Avatar m tn any drug has sides but you have to be mart to understand who develops sides, on the contraru you are taking drugs that make damage in your situation, Lyvomin is a useless drug and has no indication on hbv vitamin B can have sides and in the wrong dose can make liver damage and death...i guess tenofovir cannot kill, so what do you think vitamin B is a killing drug?
Avatar m tn she gave me option for them both (tenofovir, interferon) and here in my city the government pays for those expensive drugs.
Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn checking tenofovir trials on hbv only (no hiv coinfection) kidney problems are in less than 1% patients and i haven't found tx discontinuation because of kidney problems. hbv has no mutations at all under tenofovir tx and i think we can find data from some patients using tenofovir for more than 3 years even if not on trial about this. entecavir mono has only 1.2% resistance but has several hbv mutations anyway altough only 1.2% has resistance to entecavir.
Avatar m tn Members the first line oral anti viral for hepatitis b is tenofovir and according to doctor it is long life use. My question are 1) what is the efficacy and safety of tenofovir for says 10years or 15 years or 20years ? 2) what is the longest years of taking tenofovir that we have on record now?
Avatar m tn Test your kidneys before you start with Tenofovir and then 1 month and 3 months after you start. Have an experienced hepathologist guide you trough it.
Avatar m tn My doctor told me I had chronic hepatitis B, Just recently I got a liver biopsy and waiting for results. Can you give me more info on tenofovir, entecavir and interferon. I have several lab results. Perhaps I can provide you with the results so you can get a better picture on my condition. Which ones would you be interested in seeing?
1191262 tn?1366763021 So I went to see the specialist, he checked me up and said the virus is active and I would have to take Tenofovir 300mg daily and do check ups every 3 months. He also said it is safe during pregnancy.. Now, my problem is, My fiance and I were a bit choked by the new change and a bit disturbed in our plans as we are both a bit old now and wer craving for babies...My fiance is a bit afrait of taking Tenof during pregnancy that causes me headaches because our relationship may suffer from that.
Avatar m tn For the first 39 months of use of entecavir/tenofovir there is not significant difference in HCC development for tenofovir vs entecavir for non-cirrhotic...as probably expected since pre-malignancy was probably already developed in those HCC cases. For Cirrhotic tenofovir maybe seems to be just slightly better option. For non-cirrhotic usage of interferon in the past reduced chances of HCC by 29% in this study.
Avatar f tn the liver repairs itself, hbv makes no damage on most and about 10-20% can get cirrhosis after a life time you need to check fibroscan, hbsag quantity in iu/ml, hbeag, ast/alt, hbvdna and then consider if sequential treatment of tenofovir and peginterferon add on might work in your case, this treatmnet takes 3-5years of tenofovir and then another 2 years tenofovir+peginterferon, 50% clear first year and 90% lower hbsag by first year.
Avatar m tn Hello Friends, I have chronic Hep-B and I discovered it 3 years back since last 1 year+ I have been taking Tenofovir 300mg and in my last blood work following were the results: 1. HEPATITIS BE AB Positive 2. HEPATITIS BS AG REACTIVE 3. HEPATITIS BS Ab QUAL NON-REACTIVE 4. HBV DNA QUANT. PCR NOT DETECTED 5. CREATININE level 1.36 6. AST 27 7.
Avatar m tn Hi,can anyone tell me what are the medical options remaining after being resistant to both lamivudine 100 and entecavir 0.5?Will tenofovir 300 alone or ETV+TDF or any other Combo work? Please share your views?
Avatar m tn Interesting when you say treatment you mean Tenofovir? And will tenefovir get rid of the mutation A1762T/G1764A and G1899A? I'm trying to understand that if hbv dna level become undetectable will that mean no more mutation?
Avatar n tn TTC = Trying to Conceive a Baby :) sue_th, I have been there and I have my little boy, he is very healthy with no HBV. Are you on any anitiviral treatment. For pregnancy, they advice Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn 5 is still in the range) and it might be caused also by diet too much fat and meat or too much exercise at gym check carefully it might be something else than tenofovir
Avatar f tn CMX157 decreased circulating levels of tenofovir, lowered systemic exposure and reduced the potential for renal and bone side effects." Unfortunately, the reports by these financial advisors/reporters frequently lack the necessary precision. In this case the difference would be critical. I am not sure at this point what to trust, since in some presentations the company actually seemingly used simple Tenofovir, not TDF as a comparison drug.
Avatar m tn Taf is just the same as tenofovir, with a different way of action, it gets absorbed slowly, so one could minimise the dose relative to tenofovir to spare the kidneys and bones. Nothing to be highly optimistic about these so far useless antiviral drugs. Instead of targetting the culprit of hbv viral persistence, the cccDNA, the researchers are just focussing on something irrelevant. May be their aim is not to find a cure but to only keep us poor chronic hbvers on their antivirals for ever.
Avatar f tn hiv use of tenofovir is not to be considered because hiv damages kidneys too, on hbv trials kidney toxicity is no issue since only 1% developped toxicity and lowering tenofovir dose resolve this and tenofovir is still very active on hbv.unfortunately there is no research on optimal dose of tenofovir on hbv without sides (tenofovir is produced by gilead and they wanted to push use of hespera and probably hiden tenofovir from 2001...
Avatar m tn How to reduce SGPT and Creatinine while taking tenofovir? Im almost 3 yrs taking tenofovir but my HBEAG still reactive.
Avatar m tn Association of Higher Plasma Vitamin D Binding Protein and Lower Free Calcitriol Levels with Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate Use and Plasma and Intracellular Tenofovir Pharmacokinetics: Cause of a Functional Vitamin D Deficiency? "The finding of a 26% increase in vitamin D binding protein and a 42% decrease in free 1,25-OH(2)D between the lowest and highest quintiles of plasma tenofovir has not been previously reported.
Avatar m tn Tenofovir is usually given at the start of third trimester, so you have to ask you doctor why he/she recommends an immediate start. However, many women do have exposure to Tenofovir throughout their pregnancy and generally it is safe. Some head size and bone mineral density issues in the newborn are noted. So it is very much a benefit and risk exercise when deciding to take Tenofovir before the recommended third trimester.
Avatar m tn Now a days very potential medicines like tenofovir and enteciver are available which cures hepb virus on long term treatment 3-10 yrs and keeps your liver safe from further damage
