Common Questions and Answers about Temozolomide mgmt

Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female. I was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in June 2008 and underwent surgery to remove it. It was the size of an apple and diagnosed a grade 2 tumor. It grew back in September 2008 and that's when i began rigorous radiation and oral chemotherapy (Temozolomide). My recent MRI has showed the regrowth of the tumor to be "gone." The plan is to take the Temozolomide for 2 years along with Accutane (which helps the oral chemotherapy work better).
Avatar f tn Does anyone know the in's and out's of the pain mgmt rules? I am going back mon for my third visit and still hurting! I have taken all my meds. Will they kick me off the program? I mean its obvious that loritab 10 isn't working for me! Will I get a third chance? I also had surgery a week ago! Do you think that he might take that into consideration?
Avatar m tn I was released from pain mgmt after being warned once. However this time I did not know that the tylenol bottle was something different. Mind you my appointment was till the 19th of the month and the receptionst caleed and ask if I wanted to come on the 5th bc she didn't know if the dr would b back in time. I did have enough meds to get me thru and if I would've known I was taking something other than what the dr gave me I would've waited but.

363110 tn?1340920419 During this last pregnancy I was referred to Pain MGMT (I had been on Norco and Soma prior to my pregnancy and it did help my pain but the Soma made me have bad side effects) . Pain mgmt however is NOT willing to do further imaging studies to pinpoint my pain.
Avatar f tn in that practice would prescribe me pain meds until she gets back. The reason I asked about pain mgmt is because my dr said pain mgmt dr would probably prescribe stronger meds & ive read all the horror stories about oxycontin or morphine but then the pain hits and @ the time i think who cares what it is if it will make the pain stop!
519661 tn?1264516208 had to sign one with my pain mgmt dr. as well as with my neurologist (whom i went to before finding the pain mgmt dr.)....had to sign it, agree to use only ONE pharmacy as well, for any meds prescribed, didn't matter if something happened during the month (e.g., i lost them, they were stolen, accidentally dropped down the drain, eaten by the dog, whatever, didn't matter....still wouldn't refill prescription until my 30 days were up)....
Avatar f tn Am in pain mgmt, awaiting surgery 22nd. I went to ER with a new problem, she gave me 10 oxycodone pills. I discussed with her my pain mgmt doctor (she knows him), and what pills I was on. I am shocked the doc prescribed these meds knowing full well I was seeing this pain mgmt doctor! I assumed it was all legal. Doc said I broke the contract, so what do I do now, wait for the certified letter?
Avatar f tn Hi TP and welcome. I also have fibro and was in pain mgmt for years to deal with the pain. While I don't have specific experience with Tramadol you are correct in that it is every bit as bad as detoxing off opiates. How old are you and when your doctor says you will have to be in pain mgmt do you really feel he/she will manage your meds responsibly?
1823499 tn?1370090289 I work in a drug treatment center, so I'm only familiar with it in that context...haven't seen it used for pain mgmt, but I know it's used that way. When I decided to go off all pain meds last year I had to do it very slowly to avoid feeling terrible. I also took a blood pressure medication to help with symptoms of going off of pain meds. In the end it was a good choice for me. I had an increase in pain for about two months, then it was back to my baseline.
1855295 tn?1327536700 I have appt with Pain Mgmt Dr on Mon. What should I expect? Should I make sure and tell them anything special?
1128643 tn?1262483649 she tried several different therapies before I was diagnosed (pills, lupron, depo provera etc.) If I go to pain mgmt...where else is there to go but a lifetime of pain meds (and ulcers developing because of them)? I use heat often (almost every day) along with vicoprofen. I'm feeling frustrated & a bit depressed today. There don't seem to be many female pain mgmt drs. in NYC either. Thanks for letting me vent. This seems like a good community.
205009 tn?1218559728 I have moderate to severe disc herniations at 4 levels in my cervical spine. I am followed by a pain mgmt doc and recently went to be re-evaluated by my ortho doc. Previously I had good days where my neck barely hurt or didn't hurt at all and my ortho recommended I not pursue any surgery at the time as a 4 level fusion would cause pain and stiffness daily. I readily agreed as I would like to wait until disc replacements are available for multi-level usage.
Avatar f tn We need the help of our LORD JESUS and some PRAYERS from fellow CHRISTIANS to guide us to a COMPASSIONATE PAIN MGMT DOCTOR that will be able to continue the wonderful pain mgmt treatment that our wonderful kind Dr. Golding had us on that had us both stable and able to get outta bed and do the household chores and garden, etc.....
2079360 tn?1337016057 Tramadol is acutally worse than any narcotic you can take...pls do research...its very habit forming. I see a pain mgmt dr and lortab also isnt safe...if you look at all the research the ONLY catagory B is oxycodone (percocet) its the only pain med my pain mgmt dr will prescribe to pregnant women and he will only give a max of 15mg a day and it does not contain the tylenol or additives.

600857 tn?1230057770 Well where should I start. I was seeing Pain Mgmt Dr, Not good, have tried to get in to see others, but in this town it is so hard to become a new patient without referral, it's a nightmare. Got referral from Priamary Dr, but the Pain Mgmt Dr said if would take a couple of weeks. So, in the mean time I am dealing with all this cancer **** and back problems and comning down off of opiates and narcotics the hard way. Pain level GREAT. Don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn My neuro recently prescribed Tegretol for me for TN and my pain mgmt doc prescribed Gralize. My pain mgmt doc said to just try the Gralize first because the Tegretol has major side effects. I have since talked to my neuro's nurse who told me to go ahead with the Tegretol. I did, three days ago and I am so drunk I am useless. All I want to do is sleep and lie around. This is NOT anywhere near normal for me.
Avatar f tn Hi. Hope you can help. I am on 20 mg methadone for pain mgmt. I want to get off of it just to have some idea of where I am at with the pain levels before I have another, third, surgery. Any suggestions out there? I am thinking that going 5 mg at a time is a smart move?
Avatar f tn , I was also taking Fioricet, prescribed by my PCP for migraine. I was also seeing his Pain Mgmt Neuro, thru the practice (practice is huge), who I liked, but since getting booted to the curb, I haven't gone back to that office, as it really put a bad taste in my mouth with how I was treated there. He had me out of work for a few weeks when I first had my flare, 1/15, I went back, and was back out again, this past June of '15.
