I am a 25 year old female. I was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in June 2008 and underwent surgery to remove it. It was the size of an apple and diagnosed a grade 2 tumor. It grew back in September 2008 and that's when i began rigorous radiation and oral chemotherapy (Temozolomide). My recent MRI has showed the regrowth of the tumor to be "gone." The plan is to take the Temozolomide for 2 years along with Accutane (which helps the oral chemotherapy work better).
Hi. This could be something very simple like a bit of a tummy bug. He may have eaten something that has upset his stomach, and nothing more. Dogs naturally know how to deal with this - by not eating (in other words, by takling something into their gut that they know will just upset it all over again). This is an instinctive response. I wouldn't try forcing your dog to eat today. Leave him 24hrs without food (but make sure he has access to water).
Do not get rid of your dog!! What is he doing bossing you around, he not your dad or your husband. No don't have a right to make you get rid of family. The dog was in your life before he came in picture. Please don't do that. I love animals and I hate when a dog has a home and has to get out for NO REASON.
First and most important, he needs to see the vet. Your dog is a senior citizen now, and the problem could be something as simple as loss of tone in the bladder and muscles that control urine, to a urinary tract infection to the beginnings of kidney failure. He can't help it, and certainly isn't doing it on purpose, so don't try to discipline him when he has an accident.
Bring along a urine sample when you take him to see your vet. It's easy to get the sample too.
If the dog can't tolerate ivermectin, there's always the old standy: mitaban dip. We found a starving, mange infested, staph infected pup and it took 4 years of slowly decreasing dipping before his immune system could fight off the mites. Well worth the effort though.
I second what was posted but just want to stress that the enteric ASPIRIN is used, dont use tylenol or ibuprofen!!! They are deadly to your dog. I have been giving my older dog a 325mg aspirin (coated) once or twice a day for a while. I shove it into a peice of hotdog. I used to use cream cheese but he got a taste of the pill once and now won't eat cream cheese at all!!!
