Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female. I was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor in June 2008 and underwent surgery to remove it. It was the size of an apple and diagnosed a grade 2 tumor. It grew back in September 2008 and that's when i began rigorous radiation and oral chemotherapy (Temozolomide). My recent MRI has showed the regrowth of the tumor to be "gone." The plan is to take the Temozolomide for 2 years along with Accutane (which helps the oral chemotherapy work better).

Avatar n tn They are having the topotecan+bsi-201 trial at Yale in Connecticut and at Sloan Kettering in NYC. I don't know where you live and if these locations are convenient to you. There are a couple of other locations that are giving this particular trial now as well, but you'd have to check www.clinicaltrials.gov.
Avatar f tn After having surgery in Oct ' '04 for stage 3C and then having a year and 1/2 remission, I've be battleing a 2.6cm lesion down in the colon area. 2nd time on taxol gave me a 6 month remission. 10 months on doxil brought my ca125 in normal range after 2nd treatment. This past June and July numbers went up again. CAT scan showed same lesion still there. I started topotecan July 28th with a ca125 of 142. After 1st round, 3 infusions, ca124 dropped to 42.

Avatar f tn i used pressure bands. you can get them from your pharmacy. they're generally used for those who have car sickness. ask if they carry them if you can't find them. they helped me, but everyone is different. try to take sips of water throughout the day. if you are sick like this every day for a long time you should go talk to your doctor. they do have medicine to help this sort of thing. thought i am wearing of it (ie: thalidomide used in the past was thought safe.

Avatar m tn Treatment includes steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. In the event that staphylococcus or other infection is present, antibiotics have proven effective. Your father needs to take the antibiotics but for the other treatment options you need to discuss them with his dermatologist. Avatar f tn Hi, Prurigo nodularis is very hard to treat, but current therapies include steroids, vitamins, cryosurgery, thalidomide and UVB light. In the event that staphylococcus or other infection is present, antibiotics have proven effective. A physician may administer a strong dose of prednisone, which will almost immediately stop the itch/scratch cycle. However, cessation of steroids allows relapse to occur, usually within a few weeks.
Avatar n tn I have been treated with several meds, including, but not limited to Iodine drops, Thalidomide, Prednisone, and topical steroids. I am now on 10 mg of Prednisone. I have been on that dosage for 6 years now, and the medication is not treating my body very nicely with weakened joints that ache, bad bruising on my arms and legs, weight gain, and a host of other problems that go with the steroid use. One of the best things for the E/N is the application of a topical steroid, Lydex cream.
7002065 tn?1443073614 Hi, i come from the HCV post treatment issue subforum, that board is not really fast with answers and this goes to the people who have done Interferon treatment at least one time and who experience persistent limitations in their cognitive functioning as well as physical symtoms like fatigue , muscle weakness and so on. the key to all these symtoms lies in the brain where Interferon acted because it is a systemic treatment. it affects the whole body, including the brain.

Avatar f tn It took over a year for the neuropathy to go away. I had just tingling and numbness in my hands and feet. Nothing too bad and I learned to get used to it. The B6 didn't seem to help. What I have now is more intense and is associated with touching anything cool or being in a cool place. Sometimes it is like the buzz of an electric shock. I hope it doesn't worsen with each cycle. I have only had 2 so far!!
651074 tn?1248822567 I recently was diagnosed with this and would like to know more. Can anyone give me direction?
Avatar f tn Thalidomide was also the most common morning sickness medicine in the 1950's have you read up about that?
Avatar m tn But what I’m getting at is that a younger woman will have these cycles and the loss of blood is made up by what process? and in doing so is the system not flushing the remnants of the treatment meds and the processed defective cells. And why is there a possibility of defects and what systems are involved that would cause the defects? Just curious.
