2143924 tn?1545284130 Hello, For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax)to speed the passage of stones. The size and location of ureter stones are the most important factors for predicting the spontaneous passage of the stone. Lithotripsy is a good option for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Consult a nephrologist for more queries and assistance. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!

Avatar n tn I left something out. Even with one kidney blocked you can still pee, because the other kidney is still functioning.
Avatar f tn Do you have stones in your urinary tract? Tamsulosin can treat that, but isn't usually given for an uncomolicated UTI. I can't tell you to stop taking it, but you should absolutely let your doctor know about your retrograde ejaculation, and find out if you had stones. Never hesitate to contact your doctor. They want to know about your side effects and how you're doing. It helps them do their jobs better.
Avatar f tn The treatment for kidney stones depends on their size and what they are made of and also if they are causing pain or obstructing the urinary tract. Small stones usually pass through the urinary tract without treatment. It is good advice to stay well hydrated as that should prevent the stones from getting any bigger or new ones from forming. For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .

Avatar m tn I had a ureteral stricture (left side at approximately L3-L4) that was causing kidney-stones to get hung up. My urologist at the time did the old balloon procedure thingy, and I've been aces ever since (and that was about 15 years ago). What causes your ureter to keep closing back up? I can't say I've ever heard of that.
Avatar f tn Should I take these meds even though the Flomax (tamsulosin) is not approved for women? Also considering my past medical history Im scared to take either meds, should I? History- Irritable bowel syndrome, (past)stomach ulcers, smoker, and just diagnosed with Fibrous Dysplasia (still finding out more information and getting more testing, health problems with this also started in Feb.
Avatar n tn Other possibilities are irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis(inflammation of the liver), kidney stones, pneumonia, musculoskeletal pain, lower rib fracture and malignancy. Irritation of the nerves supplying this area can also cause pain. Irritation can be due to nerve compression or pinching due to any spine related pathology. In females, ovarian pathology can cause such symptoms. You should get an ultrasound right upper abdominal area done to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I got my stones for the first time while pregnant. It was miserably painful! I guess I passed it because it settled off and the pain went away. Then when my baby was about 6 months old, I had one move in my other kidney. It was miserable again. After much running, walking, bouncing, and flooding my system with water, I finally passed it right before the urologist got his chance to fish it out! I was sooo relieved!
Avatar m tn I had a ureteral stent implanted 10 days ago (between my left kidney and bladder) due to a pair of kidney stones in my left kidney. I am able to achieve a full erection, and experience the sensations of orgasm. However, no ejaculate comes out at all. Could this be due to scarring or swelling or what exactly? Will it go rectify itself without serious corrective action?
Avatar f tn Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.had any body else had this problem.
Avatar f tn I am having a lithroscopy to break up kidney stones a stent may have to be put in place in order that the stones can pass. I have read and heard how uncomfortable this can be and are there other options to having a stent put in place.
Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar n tn Blood tests were all normal. I was then sent for an ultrasound of my urinary tract. It showed my right kidney is enlarged and working hard. I had by this time started to get some discomfort in my right side and lower back. Since then, you can feel a swelling in that area on my side at the bottom of the rib and now the left side has started to hurt too. It also has some swelling there, but not as much as the right side.
Avatar f tn http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/kidney-stones/basics/risk-factors/con-20024829 This has helpful medical information that your doctor would be able to understand and discuss with you about more uncommon causes: http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/239278-overview. Its important to remember that kidney stones are not uncommon and are easily treatable if followed up on. The other conditions are clinically rare.
Avatar f tn How are you? Kidney stone pain is often associated with low back pain and abdominal pain. Kidney stones, especially those in the left kidney, can also cause significant amounts of nausea and even vomiting. As the stone moves further down the ureter toward the bladder, the pain often radiates in the groin and genital areas. In men, the pain may radiate to the scrotum. In women, the pain may radiate to the labia or even the vagina.
5787494 tn?1387148684 With my 1st pregnancy I was having pains in my right kidney all day couldn't tell what the problem was and wasn't peeing blood or anything. Went to the hospital since it wouldn't go away after a couple hours and it turned out to be kidney stones. I've never had them in my life but apparently pregnant women can get a calcium build up and it causes them. If the pain goes on for a long time I'd get it checked just in case.
1831849 tn?1383228392 Both are designed to address benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). I know the primary audience is men, but there are women who take tamsulosin for urinary hesitancy. I was taking the max dose of tamsulosin, .8mg/day. I'm now taking 8mg Rapaflo/day. I'm told that it will take 4-5 days to see the full benefit if Rapaflo and I'm now on day 3. So far so good. I think it's allowing me to better empty my bladded.
