tamiflu pregnancy

ll cause harm to my baby. Anyone been prescribed meds for flu this pregnancy? (Tamiflu in particular..) Any natural remedies? That's the route I like to go.. I've never had the flu in my life.

I am 5 weeks pregnant with my 3RD baby. I came down with a cold on Thursday. My cough is horrible and I have been running fevers a lot. I called my OB and she called in a RX for tamiflu. I've never been on it before but she assured me that it was safe. She said my cough may turn into pneumonia or bronchitis and that may be worse then taking the meds. I never went thru this with my boys so I'm a little unsure. I did research and it seems safe. What are others opinion on this.

I would get the pharmacist to show you in their book the reasins its not safe in pregnancy..i kno the antidepressants i used to take can cause heart defects to a baby in the first trimester..somethings are only a problem then..

Yes I took tamiflu when I was pregnant with my son it's on the lowest scale for harming you or the baby. In other words its safe.

You may actually experience fewer or less severe symptoms for having gotten the vaccination. As far as Tamiflu, yes, it is safe during pregnancy. I have taken it myself. Hope you feel better soon.

OB says to take Tamiflu and start today, but Tamiflu is not recommended for pregnancy based on unknown reactions to unborn children. Hubby and I don't know what decision is the best for us. Any opinions? The prescription is waiting for me...just so scared either way. I am leaning towards taking my chances and not taking it, but that is not the recommendation. My husband and MIL had the flu over Christmas, but I had a flu shot and was fine. You can take Tamiflu while pregnant if you do get the flu.

Ive already started taking tamiflu and cough syrup with a decongestant. How dangerous is the flu to my baby. I know a high temperature can cause birth deffects. Luckly i havent had a fever. But what about the virus in general?

I took tamiflu during last pregnancy. Safer to take to make u feel better than the risk of u staying so ill. With all meds there are risks but in this case it's better to take the meds and get better faster. I felt way better after 2 days. If I remember tamiflu is only for 5 days. Good luck. Tamiflu is in no way safe during pregnancy. The risks outweigh the benefits I'm pretty sure.its class c. I had flu last January 7 months pregnant and they couldn't give me anything. But tell me to stay hydrated!!

I have been so miserable for a whole week now. There is no relief and at times I feel like I'm dying. This might sound dramatic but I am serious my nose runs like a faucet I cannot breathe through it my TEETH hurt so bad I can't chew a banana. My throat and mouth are on fire because of all the mouth breathing and the aches pains and chills are enough to send me up the wall! My four-year-old grandson, who has leukemia, was just diagnosed with the flu despite having the shot this year. I also had the shot prior to my diagnosis. Obviously it doesn't cover strain B, which is what he has. My husband and I kept him until this morning so we have been exposed big time. Get to a doctor and get a tamiflu prescription asap if you test positive. It took me almost a month to recover.

Definitely go see your doctor. I waited too long to take care of my cough and got bronchitis and fractured a rib from coughing. This flu season is brutal. I was told if a cough over a week needs to be seen. Cepacol is listed as safe for a sore throat and robitussin dm for coughs.

For the last four days I been having flu like symtoms (fever, night sweats, body aches) , seen the dr. and he perscribed TAMIFLU. You should try going to the hospital , they'll give you medicine there . I went to the labor and delivery room since I'm far in my pregnancy already i got told i had the type A flu and they gave me " tamiflu " and I was also dehydrated . The nurse told me that she was glad I came in cause it could of gotten worse . Better safe than sorry !

Yes, thanksgiving week, my son had the flu. I was so sick and was sure I caught it too, but I could only take tylenol and Tamiflu. Drink lots of liquids. Other than that, you're literally going to have to sweat it out. Hope you feel well soon.

Haven't posted anything pertaining to my pregnancy in a while so here's an update! last Tuesday on the 13th, my husband and i took our children to the farm show complex. while thete, we saw many animals, cows being shaved and milked, chickens hatching etc. well i began sneezing and coughing uncontrollable but put it off as allergies. The next morning I woke up drenched in sweat and my body ached horribly. I checked my fasting blood sugar and itwas 20!!!!
