Tacrolimus transplant

Common Questions and Answers about Tacrolimus transplant

Avatar m tn What are the purported effects on tacrolimus? Has there already been a trial or test? Once a transplant patient's biopsy and lab numbers clearly show him heading down the road to fibrosis and cirrohsis, would it make sense to push for trying the new drugs at least the approved ones for non-transplant such as teleprevir and bocepavir? Otherwise the patient is looking at another transplant which would seem to be quite a negative option.
Avatar f tn AS I HAVE SUFFERED BREATHLESSNESS AND WALKING PROBLEMS,I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF TACROLIMUS AND PUT ON NEORAL-YET THERE IS NO IMPROVEMENT IN MY CONDITION.IS THERE ANY OTHER ANTI REJECTION DRUG THAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND (I HAVE HAD A LIVER TRANSPLANT RECENTLY)? IN YOUR EXPERIENCE,CAN MY SITUATION BE IMPROVED?THANKS.
Avatar f tn My tacrolimus level is 4.2 after 4 months of liver transplant, Is it dangerous? what should i do?
Avatar n tn I lost my insurance after 13 years post-transplant.
163305 tn?1333668571 They are both being treated by my doctor who leads the hepatitis and transplant program at the UCSF transplant center. I imagine it will take at least a year (when the results data can be reviewed) to see how effective the new meds are in comparison to past experiences with SOC. Here is a link to SOC treatment in transplant patients written in 2006.... http://sadieo.ucsf.edu/course/old/HCV-LT.pdf Do you have any questions in particular?
Avatar f tn Hey guys I am 10 yrs post liver transplant. Does anyone if viagra is safe. I have 2 docs saying 2 diff things.
Avatar m tn What/how much are you taking Immunosuppressants and tacrolimus level ? Might be a slight rejection ? I recommand to talking to the transplant team.
Avatar m tn it could've also been acute autoimmune hepatitis. do you know what specifically the latest liver biopsy showed?
Avatar m tn i had a liver transplant roughly 6 years ago. and 2 days ago i drank a 1 oz shot of jagermeister. will this affect my new liver? im never going to drink any more alcohol ever again in my life. im terribly worried right now. im currently taking tacrolimus medication aswell. should i be worried? i feel perfectly fine though. i dont have any symptoms. if i was to take a blood test in 4 days, will my sgpt and sgot level go high? please help. thank you.
Avatar f tn I was initially taking Tacrolimus and then I was switched to Sirolimus. I cannot remember why my immunosuppressive was changed but Sirolimus was pretty new then and maybe my surgeon wanted to try it and see how I did. I wasn't very fond of it as I recall. It came in small packets and was an oily solution. It's been a while but I do remember that. I probably mentioned this to my surgeon and that could be the reason that he switched me back.
461838 tn?1255790216 OLT recipients with HCV were randomized to receive tacrolimus+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+corticosteroids during 1999-2001 and then tacrolimus+mycophenolate mofetil (MMF)+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+MMF+corticosteroids during 2002-2005. Patients in the steroid-free arm of both periods received no steroids except for treating biopsy-proven rejection.
Avatar n tn My dad has had a liver transplant 2 years ago, he is on immunosuppressents, namely, Tacrolimus. He would like to know if smoking marijuana would be harmful.
Avatar f tn compared to a 70-fold increase for tacrolimus), cyclosporine seems to be an attractive choice for HCV-infected transplant recipients who are planning to use a protease inhibitor. Any changes to a patient’s immunosuppression regimen should be made carefully to avoid rejection, especially in a patient who is on stable immunosuppression. My personal bias is to continue the current immunosuppression at a lower dose and follow the drug levels.
Avatar f tn I am taking Tacrolimus 3mg, Myfortic 360mg, twice a day. My Creatine is 1.25 and BUN is 29. I am also interested in your opinion.
446474 tn?1446347682 I have written you before regarding my CyberKnife HCC treatment as a patient of Norah Terrault which allowed me to get within the UCSF transplant criteria and thankfully receive a life-saving liver transplant about 4 months ago now. My question regards Zortress (everolimus) which I have just started taking (3mg daily) along with my other post transplant meds.

Avatar f tn Yes, post transplant patients are being treated with the new drugs at least at my transplant center. (U.C. at San Francisco) The patients have just started treatment so there is no data regarding results. Figure at least a year or so for the data to be available. I haven't heard of other centers doing the same but I'm sure some of the other top liver transplant programs are also trying the new treatments at least on a few well selected patients.
Avatar m tn t read anything definitive about the impact of tacrolimus on treatment outcome in the transplant population. There are articles which suggest that Cyclosporine may have benefits over Prograf insofar as recurrence of HCV post transplant is concerned but, I haven't seen anything related to HCV treatment response. I think I would play it safe and keep it simple and just do the treatment with Prograf. Good luck.
Avatar m tn and the Creatinine level at that was 1.5 - 1.6. The doctor reduced the tacrolimus dose to .5 mg morning and evening and since then the Creatinine level is slowly increasing. It is now between varying between 2.1 and 2.4. The TAC level is also low and reduced from 4.5 to 3.4 to 2.4 when last checked 2 months ago. Had a biopsy 2 months back and the report was OK. Pl suggest.
Avatar m tn Last chemoembolization gave a severe damage to the bile duct/liver and liver function was declining. In Feb 2013, I got a split deceased liver transplant and have been doing fine except elevated ALP, ALT some times. I am wondering what are chances of relapse HepC or HCC ? I am taking Tacrolimus 3mg and Myfortic 360mg twice a day, FK level is around 5. Am I going to take these two immunosuppressants (probably same dosages) for life or might be reducing the dosage ?
Avatar m tn I am 45 years old ,male,I have been recived live donner transplant for end stage liver cirrhosis due to hepatitis C .Transplantation was done in Egypt 25-5-2008, I did very well for 2 months and then ler enzyme start to rise , liver biobsy revealed mild rejection, adjustment of tacrolimus was done.but liver enzymes cntinue to rise.MRCP was done and reveaed mid dilatation of hepatic ductes and ERCP and stenting was done 1.5 month ago.
Avatar n tn I have been using Elidel topically (for years) which is a close cousin of the anti rejection drug tacrolimus-used in transplant patients. I know this is a topical preparation and probably wouldn't delay seroconversion, but somehow I still have a bit of doubt. Any comments?
Avatar n tn I was OK with my test results until I read that Elidel was chemically similiar to tacrolimus a calcineurin inhibitor that is used in transplant patients. I test orally via the OraQuick test 3,4,5, and 8 months out. All negative. I also had a 6 month blood EIA test done through Quest labs with a non-reactive result. My questions are as follows: 1. Given the length of time I have been using Elidel do you think it could have prevented my body from developing antibodies to HIV.
2114467 tn?1358210256 They is drug to drug interaction of this treatment with the transplant immunosuppressant (tacrolimus/cyclosporine) which will need to be adjusted, but SVR rates from a previous study was very high. Cheers!
