Tacrolimus medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Tacrolimus medicine

prograf

Avatar f tn Prograf capsules and injection contain the active ingredient tacrolimus, which is a type of medicine called an immunosuppressant. Immunosuppressants are used to dampen down the activity of cells in the immune system. When you receive an organ transplant the donor cells, although matched as closely as possible to yours, will not be identical to yours. This means that your immune system will recognise the tissue as foreign and try to attack the transplanted organ.
1227049 tn?1267237385 As the natural stuff I have tried does not work (I have tried basically every over the counter product available), and through my internet research, I am wondering if either Protopic (Tacrolimus) or Elidel (Pimecrolimus) would be a good thing to try out. I am especially wary of applying hydrocortisone around the eye area, but as I have eczema there as well I am at a loss of what to do about it.
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar m tn His cretanine is almost 1.4 or around. My question is that should he continue his TACROLIMUS tablets or should switch to some other tablets which are safe for kidneys? Secondly , in my sorrounding there is an opinion that lowering the TACROLIMUS dose also let the liver enzymes to increase? Do you favour such opinions as my father has lowered his tacrolimus dose to keep his kidneys safe? Sir ,will wait for your kind reply. Thanks.

Avatar n tn s hard to perform my job or other daily tasks when my eyelids are so inflamed. I guess steroids are the only option until they develop something better. Is Tacrolimus a promising nonsteroidal option?
Avatar f tn What treatment we should take for it? Right now she is taking medicine of homeopathy. What cream should prefer if burning pain persists?
Avatar f tn The treatments of this condition are application of topical corticosteroids (betamethasone, clobatesol, flucinolone) which will reduce the inflammatory process. Topical immunomodulators like pimecrolimus and tacrolimus can be used in severe conditions. I hope it helps. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn there are prograf assistance programs that the company offers. If this is not feasible than using other cheaper medications such as verapamil for example for HTN for example will alllow much lower doses of prograf to be used (it delays metabolism of the medication) and thus it comes out cheaper.
461838 tn?1255790216 OLT recipients with HCV were randomized to receive tacrolimus+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+corticosteroids during 1999-2001 and then tacrolimus+mycophenolate mofetil (MMF)+daclizumab (steroid-free) vs. tacrolimus+MMF+corticosteroids during 2002-2005. Patients in the steroid-free arm of both periods received no steroids except for treating biopsy-proven rejection.

Avatar n tn For the last 2 years, I have lived in Arizona with no health problems. Formerly from Minnesota, I recently moved back to the Twin Cities. Two days after my arrival, I noticed a moderate itchiness on my hands, arms, legs, and feet. The only change besides the move itself was the body wash I was using. I stopped using the body wash immediately, but the itching worsened. After about 1 week, the itching turned from moderate to severe, being at its worst at night.
Avatar m tn He has suggested to apply Tacrolimus-0.1% w/w (morning) and FLUTICASONE CREAM BP 0.05% (night) for six weeks. Thanks for the advice. Although, doctor is not consider my problem so acute or STD. I use condoms regularly since last 12 year. Also I spotted same type of white spot on glans 6years ago, that was very mild, and it gone after few months, while I didn't apply any medicine. But this time it is not disappearing, that is my worry.
Avatar n tn I have never had this problem, I am 39 years old and have been on hypertensive medicine for the last 10 years ( recently around 9 months back) changed to losartan ( one in the morning and one in the evening after food ) does this have anything to do with this, or is my magnesium or calcium low ??? I quite puzzled so could please let me know whats the problem or what tests i need to take to check this problem, thanks for all the answers.
Avatar n tn Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. Best would be to consult a dermatologist and get biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn i would be extremely cautious about using it until more data is available especially since its purported effects on tacrolimus and cyclosporine metabolism are extreme. i am quite confident that there will be clinical trials coming down the road extremely soon.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for responding. I have uploaded some pictures of my mum's rash - hopefully you will be able to access them. The rashes are rough not smooth. My mum did have athlete's foot once but that was several years ago. She is on medicine for high blood pressure (I think Lotensen) but I believe the rash and itching started before she was prescrible this drug.
Avatar f tn My tacrolimus level is 4.2 after 4 months of liver transplant, Is it dangerous? what should i do?
Avatar n tn t sure if there was any kind of inheritance that could be involved. I was just wondering if there was any kind of medicine that could be recommended from the drugstore or something that could actually be done about this, because it's driving me crazy and it's only getting worse. Thank you for any help you can give!
Avatar n tn Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Hello. I have a lip disorder called exfoliative cheilitis or factitious cheilitis. I got it by excessively licking, biting, and picking at my lips, which results in the top layer of skin being removed permanently. Unfortunately, when you leave your lips alone, they don't heal normally. Rather, they form scales or crusts that grow and they shed every few days, similar to psoriasis. Although there is no official cure for this condition, I am tying to heal myself right now.
