Common Questions and Answers about Tacrolimus lotion

prograf

Avatar f tn Hello, It looks like irritant contact dermatitis to the lotion. Wear gloves while applying this lotion. The treatments of this condition are application of topical corticosteroids (betamethasone, clobatesol, flucinolone) which will reduce the inflammatory process. Topical immunomodulators like pimecrolimus and tacrolimus can be used in severe conditions. I hope it helps.

Avatar m tn Hello, It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. It causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. You should consult a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed.
Avatar m tn i wouldnt lower the tacrolimus dose further
Avatar n tn Newer two topical eczema drugs like pimecrolimus (Elidel Cream) and tacrolimus (Protopic Ointment) are reserved only for cases where corticosteroids have not been effective. Sometimes oral corticosteroids and immunosuppressants like cyclosporine and phototherapy are used for resistant cases. Your doctor may prescribe some sedative-antihistaminics to reduce itching. You may discuss about these treatment options with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I consistently have a thick, crusty skin that forms over the area that I pluck. It is not dry skin thus, lotion does not alleviate the problem. I'm wondering what this could be and how to treat the issue? I notice flakes in my eyebrows as well. Very odd, I realize, and I exfoliating the area w/ salicylic acid and a wash cloth helps only minimally. The skin always comes back every day as described above. Thank you for any help you can offer!!
Avatar n tn Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. Best would be to consult a dermatologist and get biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
1227049 tn?1267237385 I have tried a wide variety of things to control it. Doing nothing and natural treatments (oatmeal, honey lotion, etc.etc.) have had no affect and have caused the condition to become worse. The one thing I have found to control it and actually make me feel comfortable in my skin is hydrocortisone. I have been using the lowest formula of it (0.5%) for an extended period of time (probably since I got on the original accutane course) in these areas.
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Avatar f tn Also do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream or calamine lotion should help. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn He has given some of creams which i am using from 20 days. 1. Sungrace total(sunscreen lotion). 2 Episoft (cleansing lotion). 3 Elovera cream (before sleeping). 4 Derive-CMS Gel ( for pimples). 5 Cutizone cream (for redness - this cream used for only 3 days. now i am not using). and also given Vitamin E tablets. These all I am using regularly, but still my face is itching and drying everyday. Please advice why it is still not recover? what I am using is correct?
Avatar m tn When I shower it seems the make the skin red and irritated again. No over the counter lotion works probly because of the lanolin. Olive oil moisturises the skin but doesnt make it go away. If anything I feel that it heals better without olive oil it is almost gone now I will see if it comes back.
Avatar n tn ve tried everything to get rid of this from deep penetrating lotion to the expensive brands of corrective cosmetics and nothing has helped.also i noticed that when i wake up some mornings my eyelids have been swollen.thinking this is from the stuff i've been trying i had stopped and used nothing for a week and they still swell.some mornings worse then others and some mornings not at all.but my main concern is the dry patches on my eylids.is there anything i can do?
Avatar n tn For the last 2 years, I have lived in Arizona with no health problems. Formerly from Minnesota, I recently moved back to the Twin Cities. Two days after my arrival, I noticed a moderate itchiness on my hands, arms, legs, and feet. The only change besides the move itself was the body wash I was using. I stopped using the body wash immediately, but the itching worsened. After about 1 week, the itching turned from moderate to severe, being at its worst at night.
Avatar m tn His cretanine is almost 1.4 or around. My question is that should he continue his TACROLIMUS tablets or should switch to some other tablets which are safe for kidneys? Secondly , in my sorrounding there is an opinion that lowering the TACROLIMUS dose also let the liver enzymes to increase? Do you favour such opinions as my father has lowered his tacrolimus dose to keep his kidneys safe? Sir ,will wait for your kind reply. Thanks.
Avatar n tn My dermatologist has kept me on a regime of part cortisone lotion, part anti-fungal lotion since I was 18. While this seems to lessen the dermatitis, the flaking is still persistant, and seems to come in cycles. I have also been using tea-tree shampoo (hoping the anti-fungal properties of tea-tree oil). What other options do I have? My current fix is no fix at all, but a poor "band-aid.
Avatar n tn s hard to perform my job or other daily tasks when my eyelids are so inflamed. I guess steroids are the only option until they develop something better. Is Tacrolimus a promising nonsteroidal option?
Avatar f tn The treatments of this condition are application of topical corticosteroids (betamethasone, clobatesol, flucinolone) which will reduce the inflammatory process. Avatar f tn Hormonal contraceptives such as the pill and the patch may increase the blood level of tacrolimus. Tacrolimus may also reduce the effectiveness of these hormonal contraceptives. For this reason women who could get pregnant should ideally use a non-hormonal method of contraception, eg condoms, to prevent pregnancy while taking this medicine. Seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
Avatar n tn there are prograf assistance programs that the company offers. If this is not feasible than using other cheaper medications such as verapamil for example for HTN for example will alllow much lower doses of prograf to be used (it delays metabolism of the medication) and thus it comes out cheaper.
Avatar f tn AS I HAVE SUFFERED BREATHLESSNESS AND WALKING PROBLEMS,I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF TACROLIMUS AND PUT ON NEORAL-YET THERE IS NO IMPROVEMENT IN MY CONDITION.IS THERE ANY OTHER ANTI REJECTION DRUG THAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND (I HAVE HAD A LIVER TRANSPLANT RECENTLY)? IN YOUR EXPERIENCE,CAN MY SITUATION BE IMPROVED?THANKS.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms it looks like allergic reaction or eczema. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also keep the area well mosituries by using a hypoallergenic mosituriser. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used , whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
