Avatar f tn If a person develops rosacea from the use of steroids and discontinues topical steroids.... uses prescribed medications to clear their skin..... do they still have rosacea and have to be careful of triggers such as certain foods? One would think that if one eliminates the source that provoked the rosacea,,,, then it is not truly rosacea ..Any info on this....

Avatar f tn I have a rosacea-like rash that started at my temples when I was about 14 years old but is now spread all over my face and heading down my neck and around my ears. It doesn't itch but does feel hot on a regular basis now and the skin has begun to get very dry and cracked. Im not sure it's rosacea and could use some help finding an answer and a solution. I am now 30 years old and it's become very visible and I find myself more and more self conscious in public.
Avatar n tn Hello, From what you have described, rosacea is an important possibility that needs to be ruled out. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder of the central part of the face , such as forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Pimples or acne are sometimes included as part of the definition. Even the possibility of steroid induced rosacea is there. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effects of using steroids.

Avatar m tn Hello, Long-term corticosteroid use has been associated with local side effects (skin atrophy, contact dermatitis, striae, telangiectasia, and depigmentation.). You should consult a dermatologist and discuss about steroid induced rosacea so that you can slowly be weaned off this drug. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn I just got over a pretty severe case of psoriasis that covered a good portion of my body, but the thing is my palms and the bottoms of my feet were covered in dead skin, and i mean a lot. I would tear it off and it would be right back times 3. The scales were there as well on my arms, legs, genitle region, ect. I got prescribed prednisone 20 mg 3 times a day. Cleaned it right out but, there is a problem with my face. My face is red and not embarresed red Just red.
Avatar m tn the first doctor had now idea but ruled out seb derm and rosacea, the 2nd doc thought I might have rosacea because when he pressed it turned red so put me on accutane 10mg for 2 months...went to another doc got told same as 1st but mentioned sensitization of the skin...went back to a follow up appointment with the 1st doc who has now decided to agree with the 2nd doc even though on my appointment I asked if she could see any signs on rosacea and she said no...
Avatar f tn The other acne like conditions could be just that - clogged pores. Make sure you use mild facial cleansers morning and night, and apply makeup with clean fingers or clean applicators. It's suggested applicators should be cleaned at least once a week, and pillow cases changed at least once a week. So much bacteria can be deposited on these items and then redeposited back to your pores. I hope you find relief soon.
Avatar f tn It appears around my mouth, chin, and sometimes in patches on my cheeks. It is not rosacea. I have spent lots of money going to many dermatologists and they have no idea what it is. They/ I think it may flare up be my immune system when it's down, but are there any treatments I could use to help stop these random outbreaks? I use eczema cream, moisturizer, lip creams etc... My lips suffer it the worst with the rash being there 6/7 times a week.
Avatar f tn Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn my cheeks would feel cold even in hot weather and I would look normal, but as soon as I get home and sit down my face would go beet red and take a couple of hours to calm down; this started in the second month and has remained the same 7months after finishing the course. If I eat spicy food my face will turn pink but feel cold to touch, sometimes the same happens with beer but the more I drink the less sensitive I become to these triggers.

Avatar n tn My opth has diagnosed me with blepharitis, I use sterilid w/ compresses and take flaxseed oil, and I also use preservative free eyedrops for moisture. However nothing has worked to my satisfaction besides tobradex which I've used for about a year and half- my eyelid inflammation is pretty severe even with the other treatments, however w/ tobradex my symptoms are almost nonexistent.
