My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now. Im thinking it was the benzo withdrawal but I have no experience with that either so Idk. Also, with wellbutrin I dont have the heart rate just feel sleepy and foggy mind. Any help would be appreciated and forgive any typos. I'm on my phone.

Whenever a doctor prescribes a medication for a child, the parent would do well to investigate its side effects of the medication. ADD medications can be very nasty, and that includes Strattera. In a case like this I would definitely investigate alternative medicine for the treatment of your child. The answer may be acupuncture which has no side effects. Do whatever works.

My son also could not take the Strattera due to side effects, but the side sffects are in the same category as SSNRI's. A lot of people just can't take them. Some have no problems. I am interested in the Provigil because he does well with stimulants. Hope negive finds this info useful too.

I would take her to a pediatric psychologist for a second opinion. It sounds like she is being medicated for the side effects from the Strattera and she may be over stimulated.

My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. i've been on stelazine for about a year now along with the rest of the meds i started strattera about last month...

It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions. He has decided to deal with the side effects bc of the clear benefits to his ADHD so I want to support him, we are just not sure what options are there.

I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm. Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it? I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?

t want to play around with newer drugs with side effects I am afraid of. i know how the amphetamine adhd meds makes me feel and I am working now and doing fine but in a few days I will be out. Are you injecting prior to bed? The sweating and aches waking you up? And, did this sweating just start with the increase or did it start w/the lowest dose? Mine started w/the low dose. The evidence is overwhelming that the treatments are safe. Now, does this mean that there are no possible side effects? No. It is more a question of weighing the possible benefits of the treatment against the possible side effects. The most probable (vs possible) side effect of the stimulant medications is appetite suppression, particularly during the middle of the day. If you consider the use of these treatmenmts, be sure to talk about the side effect profile with the prescribing clinician.

However, I have been having some pretty difficult side effects that have become more uncomfortable since my 50mcg increase. The symptoms have been extreme sweating even when it's cooler. Moving around at a slow pace I break out into a sweat, my head drenched. My menstrual cycle has not regulated either, prolonged bleeding. My appetite has increased as well as anxiety. I have chest heaviness on and off, too. Normal Range 0.40-5.00 and my results last week were 4.63.

Thanks for the info! I will be seeing the Internist thursday and I just wanted to run it by some one else before I go for my appt. I also take desipramine for my headaches and I've read that one of the side effects can be sweating.

t have any side effects. Side effects of thyroid meds are generally related to over- or under-medication. Some people do have sensitivity to the fillers in the various tablets.

I've been a 120 mg of strattera 2 days per doctors orders and I feel REALLY stupid. Will this go away?
