My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now. Im thinking it was the benzo withdrawal but I have no experience with that either so Idk. Also, with wellbutrin I dont have the heart rate just feel sleepy and foggy mind. I would take her to a pediatric psychologist for a second opinion. It sounds like she is being medicated for the side effects from the Strattera and she may be over stimulated.

My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.

i've been on stelazine for about a year now along with the rest of the meds i started strattera about last month...

prozac has been tested on children, my son was taken off stimulants due to anxiety and other side effects, while the prozac seemed to help his moods it causes other issues, like falling asleep at school, restlessness during sleep, hyper eating to where its excessive, excessive behaviour where he was literally was banging himself into a wall, or doing acrobatics on his bed and banging his head.

It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions. I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm. Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it? I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. She is very depressed and has cut herself. I know as a teenager, you can go through a depression, but reading side effects Srattera can cause it. We are in counseling. We are also going to a Psychologist to discuss her medication, it doesn't seem to be helping her anymore. She started complaining about having a hard time breathing and her chest hurting when track conditioning started. My main concern now is that they (his doctor and mother) have elevated his drug regimine to include 3 drugs that have known interactions with each other, 1 (Concerta) that is known to potentially cause sudden death, and 2 (Clonidine and Zolpidem) that are not recommended for children. Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
