Avatar n tn The rest of the evening he was doing this and so we gave him half a tablet of pain medication. The vet had to put a funnel on his head to keep him from biting at his incision. He was in a "drunk" manner that evening and we figured it was because he was trying to get use to the funnel. We also gave him some ice cubes because he seemed very weak. We really can not believe this happened he was only 4 years old.
Avatar n tn A person who is developing IPF will first begin to notice a shortness of breath, a general fatigue, and often a dry, hacking cough which cannot be controlled. Progressive: As a patient with undiagnosed IPF continues their daily activities, the lack of oxygen circulation begins to become more and more obvious, and the patient will find themselves out of breath during even the most routine activities.
Avatar f tn 10 hours ago Posted by CNN's Gregory Wallace (CNN) - It took no advice from the Imperial Senate to reach this conclusion: the U.S. government won't be building a Death Star. A White House official responded Friday to an online petition on its website proposing the government turn what is “Star Wars” fiction into reality - you know, to boost the economy.
495284 tn?1333894042 3. ANGER & BARGAINING- Frustration gives way to anger, and you may lash out and lay unwarranted blame for the death on someone else. Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your relationships may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion. You may rail against fate, questioning "Why me?" You may also try to bargain in vain with the powers that be for a way out of your despair ("I will never drink again if you just bring him back") 4.
Avatar f tn Stage 1 is considered a small amount of fibrosis. Stages 2 and 3 is considered a greater amount of fibrosis or scarring meaning the disease has progressed. The more fibrosis the harder it is on the liver to carry out it's functions. As the damage progresses further, many scars can form together, which can lead to stage 4, or cirrhosis.
1211319 tn?1282527452 No one can really answer this but it sounds like it wont be long before getting a lot worse. Dying from liver disease is a horrible death i.e not having a sound mind, vomiting blood everywhere. Sorry you are going through this. I'm not going to say to get him help because I'm sure you have tried this many times. Just try and make him comfortable until the end. Hope you or him don't suffer much.
1201072 tn?1289760591 it sounds harsh I am sure but if she is not willing to stop drinking she cannot get a liver transplant and therefore she will not live long. You can only take care of yourself and do the best you can. It doesn't sound like you will have to worry about her keeping you up at night very much longer. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am so very sorry about your little dog's passing. I obviously can't tell you what the cause of his death was. Only a necropsy (autopsy) could determine that. I am making an educated guess however, as when you said he had belly contractions, this reminded me of my own dear dog who passed from hemangiosarcoma. She had a massive internal bleed in her last few hours, and kept contracting her belly muscles. I know this was an instinct to try to get something out of her insides.
916131 tn?1318681712 You and I will never be the same. Death has a cruel way of changing us a human being, but we are also survivers and will be able to handle anything that comes our way. It's going to be ok, but one day at a time and one step at a time...
Avatar f tn I think there are different stages of addiction..the early stages which are most easily broken and then the last stages where one has to do or die. Actually as i type I realize that one always has to do or die because if one does not stop in the early stages it can progress to a much more difficult time and a more difficult recovery.
Avatar f tn My father is in the final stages of dementia. He can no longer hold anything or walk. He quit speaking about 4 years ago. I just was recently told that he no longer chews. This has been for about 6 weeks. His food is thickened so he can swallow it. He has lost about 20 pounds in 5 months. His albumin level is 2.7, and 2.5 is sometimes the criteria for hospice care. My question is, how much longer before he loses his ability to swallow?

Avatar m tn Please keep in mind that this varies according to the location of the metastisis. I personally know of survivors of many years with mets to the bone. It would also depend on your Mother's general health and what treatment will be prescribed. Another point is that all the lumps you describe in your Mother's breasts may not be cancerous; it would only take one malignant lump to cause the metastisis. Kindest regards ....
Avatar f tn In secondary progressive MS there are less likely to be relapses. There is a steady advancing of the disease. In my case, thankfully, the advancing is taking its sweet time :-) The other 2 types of MS are progressive relapsing and primary progressive. These are distinct types of MS. They occur less frequently and tend to be more severe.
Avatar n tn Had I known from the onset the dangers of this, I would never have allowed a doctor to prescribe it to me. My onset of symptoms was back in 2005 and at the time, I didn't know what I was experiencing. I so want this out of my system and to rely on no medication. Unfortunately, my body is resisting this idea. Thanks again for your stern but effective comment.
617474 tn?1466635798 my psycologist tells me is only anxiety, but i keep getting lots of headaches, weird ones, like suddenly in the back/left part of my head and back of neck and back of the head..they star for like 10 minutes and leave, then feel tingling in my head and in the back of my neck, I still get little simptoms from the panic attacks but not bad anymore, but the headaches and the back-neck tingling won't go...
Avatar f tn If depression levels are dangerous to the point of loss of health, persuade them to go to a doc for medication to balance them out a little. Other than that, just be there.

228686 tn?1211554707 Simultaneously, I fostered a litter of new kittens, and though they all got good homes (kept 2 of them) and were a joy to foster, all that took a lot out of me. Give yourself time to grieve and try to think how happy you must have made Ralphie in the time he had with you. That's all you can do, besides pledging to love some more little furry souls that need you... the best way to heal is to keep doing what you're doing, even if you have to stop and take a breath and shed some tears.
