Avatar f tn Therapists’ first work with patients to create sing-song sentences that can be set to familiar tunes, then work on removing the melody to leave behind a more normal speaking pattern. This kind of therapy is recommended for patients who have no meaningful form of speech, but can understand language and have the patience for therapy sessions. I hope this helps. Take care always and regards.

Avatar m tn I went to my speech therapy this morning. She had me saying ahhhhhh, ooooh, eeeeh and reading from what looked like a grade second reader. The she made a mistake. She said, "Tell me a little about yourself." Now, being a complete windbag I went into a dissertation that rocked her back on her heels. She kept asking me to take a deep breath as i talked.
193609 tn?1292180293 She said that they do educational speech therapy and that Ashtyn needs Clinical speech therapy. Is there anything that would be as helpful as speech therapy since my insurance wont cover it and the ISD doesn't do the speech therapy that he needs? Ashtyn is very behind in almost all communication skills. I don't know what else to do for him, and no one can help him!

Avatar m tn Does anyone know of any LLMDs who practice ILADS methods in the New York state / city region? It would be particularly useful if they are used to accommodating long distance patients in their treatments plans, consultations etc. Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
Avatar m tn They can either tell you all is well or help you improve your speech thru therapy. Killing oneself is pretty extreme. There are those out there with much worse conditions that persevere daily and are glad they are able to do that. Perhaps you are over thinking all of this and need to take a deep breathe and look at it from another angle. I hope you can find some peace in this.
Avatar f tn I just had a new problem in which one eye has double vision and poor vision, problems with my speech.. I have a terrible headache that goes in Waves. I had a MRI and this is what it says could you tell me what this report means? Thank you. ON THE AXIAL FLAIR PULSE SEQUENCE, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF PUNCTATE AREAS OF INCREASED SIGNAL IN THE PEIVENTRICULAR DEEP WHITE MATTER ON BOTH FRONTAL REGIONS AND IN THE SUPERIOR MARGIN OF THE LEFT FRONTAL PARIETAL REGION. FINDINGS ARE NONSPECIFIC.
Avatar f tn There are so many different abbreviations for things and some of them vary from region to region, so I am going to assume you mean hydrothermal ablation (?) Please re-post if this is not correct. If it is correct, then the answer is, an ablation may help to keep new endometriosis from forming, but will not help to keep old endometriosis from growing, recurring or otherwise causing problems. The mechanism by which endometriosis develops is not known for sure.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know any good Crohn's disease or Colitis specialists in new York or Pennsylvania region? What kind of specific specialists or types of hospital would you recommend?

Avatar n tn Hi, Brain injured patients may receive rehabilitation that involves individually tailored treatment programs in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, physiatry, psychology, and social support. A complete physical and neurological examination is needed in each treatment program. It would be best to discuss which treatment option is best for you with your doctor for proper evaluation and management. Take care and keep us posted.
1154462 tn?1327434379 I have bipolar disorder I and am considering talking to my psychiatrist about Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment. this is because I feel that the current combination of anticonvulsants and antipsychotics I'm on isn't working and honestly I'm tired of the rapid cycling. I have read about the success rate of this treatment and how it's the most effective treatment for manic depression. Would you recommend having this discussion? Currently I am on 300 mg Lamictal, 0.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I'm glad you gave an update from your speech therapy visit. It sounds like you have a good one and hopefully you will find the right combination of food consistency and flavor. I am picking up my afo next week - maybe we can compare notes. Mine is non-hinged, so I doubt i can sleep in it. I am getting it to stabiize my foot while my foot stress fracture heals. Do you happen to have any of those black boots they often give for foot injuries?
1530342 tn?1405016490 Unlike Massachusetts, which pioneered gay marriage in 2004, New York has no residency requirement for obtaining a marriage license, meaning the state could become a magnet for gay couples across the country who want to have a wedding in Central Park, the Hamptons, the romantic Hudson Valley or that honeymoon hot spot of yore, Niagara Falls. New York, the nation's third most populous state, will join Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Washington, D.C.
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone- I'm new here, but I had a question about my 2 year old boy. He was diagonosed with PDD-NOS in August and he's been getting ABA therapy for about a month now. I was wondering if anyone has any great success stories with ABA. I know he's been getting only a month, but already I'm getting a bit frustrated. Before he started ABA, he has gotten 6 months of other therapy- speech, special instruction and physical therapy along with his twin sister.
676912 tn?1332812551 He doesn't have speech therapy. He's five years old. He speaks clearly, and has a huge vocabulary, normal for his age. I'm not 100% sure about all of it, but I know it has more to do with his brain and comprehension.
Avatar m tn Not clear if heavy metals show on the scans My diagnosis as we speak right now by my Earth Metals Specialist MD is that I have Aphasia due to heavy metal poisoning, that’s what my medical form says. With That MD I’m doing kelation therapy there; however this is almost two years after the accident.
Avatar m tn It’s never too late for speech therapy. Just go to a clinic that specializes in stuttering therapy. Not every SLP will have experience in this area as our field is quite broad. They will come up with treatment techniques that is best suited for your need!
Avatar f tn Is your son receiving speech therapy? I think that is the most important thing for him to improve his language. If he is already getting speech therapy, maybe he needs it more often.
Avatar f tn suggested occupational therapy then speech therapy. She said that some kids who have speech delays are showing some Autistic traits that will disappear later on. My husband doesn't want him to start any therapies yet because he said he's still young & he wants to give him a time because he believes that it's not Autism. We enrolled him to a toddler class instead so he can interact with other kids because he's our only child & he doesn't have playmates.
Avatar f tn For most stroke patients, the rehabilitation process includes nursing, occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), therapeutic recreation (TR) and speech therapy (or speech language therapy, SLP). OT involves exercise and training to help the stroke patient relearn everyday activities, sometimes called the Activities of daily living (ADLs), such as eating and drinking, dressing, bathing, cooking, reading and writing, and toileting.
500419 tn?1220124743 My son had a speech delay they recognized at 18 months after he had tubes put in his ears around the same time. I took him to speech therapy at "Columbus Speech and Hearing." They first did a hearing check to make sure everything was ok. Then autism was another good thing to look into. Their first plan of attach, though, was "early intervention" with speech therapy one day a week for a half hour at "Columbus Speech and Hearing.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Graved Disease and has had radio iodine therapy in March. He has since fallen severely hypothyroid and has slurred speech as well as fatigue, weight gain, and irritability. His MD has put him on Synthroid, but my question is will his speech go back to normal and if so, how long? It's very disturbing to hear because it sounds as if he has been drinking (he doesn't at all), and I'm worried how this may affect him long term.
Avatar f tn Hi, my son is almost 3.5 yo. He was diagnosed with speech delay 6 moths ago, so far he finished 6 weeks Intervention program and 6 weeks of speech therapy. He's doing great, now he has around 100 words and likes to sing songs. He has troubles expressing his emotions and wishes, and does not play with kids in preschool. He's great with fine and gross motor skills, really good climber, knows all letters, counting till 100, likes to write numbers and letters, has good eye contact.
Avatar m tn My husband has had periods of slurred speech for about 10 weeks. An MRI was ordered and revealed no significant problems in the brain, ruling out stroke, tumor, any major problem that could be uncovered with this examination. Coincidentally his speech pattern has coincided with some discomfort in the upper part of his back. Could there be any correlation?
