Solumedrol onset of action

Common Questions and Answers about Solumedrol onset of action

solumedrol

Avatar f tn When I had ON I had to do this only 12 hour after onset because the pain was intolerable. They started me on Solumedrol asap and within hours the pain was gone and within a couple of days the foggy vision resolved.
695915 tn?1228665952 t been answered, yet to me I believe it is an important link. When a person has a major sudden onset of symptoms and they have an MRI there are sometimes many lesions seen, yet the symptoms happened 'overnight'. How can so many lesions be there and yet the symptoms onset happen so rapidly? If you have any insights please can you add them below. Thanks for your help and input.
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
722661 tn?1230925283 Anyway, I saw my ophthalmologist a few days after onset. He noticed no change in my vision and because of this, and also because of how quickly it came on, was not so sure it was ON after all. He thought maybe migraine, although conceded it could have been a less severe attack of ON (in terms of residual damage). Have you noticed a change in vision in the affected eye, ie: blurry, cloudy, filmy? Is the pain a dull ache, a sharp pain, or like there is a foreign object in your eye?
1218288 tn?1266606172 Help! I've had numbness on left side of face and complete loss of hearing in left ear (except for a high pitched ringing) for 4 weeks. I had vertigo for the first 2 weeks. Planning on starting solumedrol i.v. as soon as a bladder infection is cleared up. Has anyone lost hearing during an exacerbation?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar f tn Hi all - Curious if anyone has experienced problems with erratic bms while taking IVSM and prednisone? Finished my 5 day IV and now on day 3 of prednisone taper. The first 3 days I couldn't go at all now I'm going 3-4 times a day. Unfortunately this is causing my nether-regions a bit of discomfort and anxiety on my part not knowing which potty break will be a controlled action or surprise attack!!
Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
198419 tn?1360242356 Info about late onset MS. LOMS is MS that shows up in people over 50, and I know there are a few of us in here.
97654 tn?1214348650 He put me on 300 mg per day of Lyrica and suggested I have another round of Solumedrol in two weeks (he wants there to be 30 days between the first round and the next one). I have read a lot of good and a lot of bad things about Lyrica. I understand it makes you sleepy - which will be good when I take the dose at night because I am having a lot of problems sleeping. However I'm really concerned about the things I have read about weight gain and Lyrica.
Avatar m tn The onset of action ranges from 45 minutes - 1 ½ hours, and the duration of action is six hours. Diazepam carries a bi-phasic half-life of 20-50 hours (for Diazepam), and 30-200 hours (for Desmethyldiazepam). Valium is indicated for the long-term management of generalized anxiety and tension-anxiety. Tolerance will not develop to the anxiolytic property of Diazepam, although tolerance will develop to the sedative/hypnotic property.
Avatar m tn A partial µ-opioid receptor agonist, its mixed agonist/antagonist activity affords it a lower risk of dependence and abuse than full µ agonists like morphine. Meptazinol exhibits not only a short onset of action, but also a shorter duration of action relative to other opioids such as morphine, pentazocine, or buprenorphine.
Avatar f tn What is the onset of action after taking a dose of the immunoglobulin.
Avatar m tn I am on my first treatment of solumedrol. The effects don't seem to be as bad as regular prednasone. I am on day 4 of 5 infusions of 1,000mg. My bolld sugar is crazy, and the tears are better when that is under control. Hang in there, and lay off the carbs, and drink water to flush!
Avatar f tn On day two of the solumedrol I finally wasn’t sleeping absurdly long periods of time and on the third day my feeling came back in my hand but every bone in my hand felt like it was being crushed. Very strange.

97654 tn?1214348650 At one point this was happening about 15 times per day. I took a round of Solumedrol (3 days) and began taking 300 mg of Lyrica per day. It now happens 4 or 5 times per week. My doctor prescribed another round of Solumedrol which is scheduled for next week (30 days from the first one). I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days.
Avatar f tn Felt like a string of grapes going up both sides of the back of my neck. Hurt to eat or talk, anything that moved my jaw. It was painful. So, yes I have experienced this, and make sure if you start feeling bad to go see your neuro or PCP.
Avatar m tn Every test showed thickened intestinal walls of the terminal illium, portions of the small intestines and colon. I have been hospitalized twice and placed on solumedrol both times and it has been effective. The initial DX was Crohn's but after almost two years my Dr. changed the DX to IBS due to all the biopsies coming back negative. I have never had any blood tests to confirm or deny Crohn's.
Avatar f tn After he/she takes the x-ray, they will go over them to determine what plan of action to take. After a few treatments, you should start to feel better.
1196859 tn?1266134938 Mine started in September of 2005 and hasn't stopped. lol I know it's nothing to joke about but has your doctor considered that you may have progressive MS? I supposedly have PPMS. Every time I have a little flare up something else becomes more disabled. I know that doesn't make sense but I'm not sure how else to describe it. I do have days when I can use my walker but most days it's the chair.
Avatar f tn Hi Stephanie Sorry to hear your symptoms are back full force. I've had just one round of a 5-day IV course of Solumedrol many years ago. I did not experience any relief of symptoms during that time, if anything it was worse. My symptoms were worsening by the hour - but I believe that was the direction it was going and the steroids weren't going to stop them in their tracks. It took a long time to get out of that attack, but with all said and done I believe the Solumedrol helped.
