I also wanted to chime in here because I've had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway.....

Wow! Most folks gain some weight with the IV solumedrol. Its a mixed bag with the rest of the drugs. Five pounds could come from water weight loss but I would keep an eye on that scale. If more drops off too fast, you need to contact your doctor.

t really have weight gain except some temporary bloating with was helped by an oral diuretic. Anyway, I saw my ophthalmologist a few days after onset. He noticed no change in my vision and because of this, and also because of how quickly it came on, was not so sure it was ON after all. He thought maybe migraine, although conceded it could have been a less severe attack of ON (in terms of residual damage). Have you noticed a change in vision in the affected eye, ie: blurry, cloudy, filmy?

I have MS but I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. That causes missed cycles. PCOS causes weight gain, missed cycles, darkening of skin in certain areas. I don't know your age but is there a chance you could be beginning menopause?

I just finished 3 days of IV Solumedrol.. I feel horrible, swollen painful lymph nodes in clavical, cerevical and back of neck, my ears hurt ...Has anyone ever had this after solumedrol? I have done solumedrol before but do not recall ever feeling this poorly.

Hi, Melinda. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time of it. I know that really sux. Is this your first course of IV steroids? People react differently to them so it's almost impossible to make any general statements. Some have severe mood issues (mostly grumpy :-) ), some have insomnia, some have weight gain that's likely to be quite temporary, some get huge bursts of energy, and so on.

I was obviously up last night with that climb-the-walls steroid energy, which caused me to overreact to testimonials of steroid-induced weight gain. I know weight fluctuation from treatment is not as big of a deal as healing and learning from the treatment. I think too it is important for me to be protective of my improved feeling of well-being.

Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?

I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.

I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

I did not gain any weight, but I did notice that my appetite was increased. I had so much energy that my entire house got a Spring cleaning, while I was on the treatment. The only GOOD side effect, I can think of. Solumedrol has the wonderful capacity to really quiet down symptoms from MS and I believe it's invaluable, especially when there is Optic Neuritis involved.

You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. So my dr says my weight gain is fine. He said 1 pound per week along I am.. So I am 32 weeks and I have gained 31 lbs... Does that sound like a lot?!? What has everyone else gained? Or is that a horrible question to ask everyone?

I haven't gain that much weight but I'm pretty sure I was at least 7 to 10 pounds over weight before I got pregnant.... I'm 5'3 so i think i should weight a little less..... maybe 125lb Before I had my beautiful baby girl (now 25 months) I was working out a lot and I was feeling good ...lol I went down to 128lbs and that when my hubby decided that it was time for another baby ..... I don't even know how or when did It happen.... :(.

I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.

I needed those words of reassurance thank you :) I was all worried because medhelps tracker showed that I was at a way high weight gain. So do you think I won't gain any more weight for a while then since your 16weeks and have also gained 10lbs?

I was around 137 pre pregnancy and am now 151. Is this a normal amount of weight gain and how much more weight is normal??? I feel like I've gained so much since some women don't gain any.
