Avatar f tn Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?

(i was also drinking etc).. anyways i blew out air and breathed in from their canister about 3 times to get in all the lil tank cartridge maybe over a period of about 1-2 mins before taking a real breath. well its been about 48 hours and a still have a head ache and have had some slight trouble with basic cognitive and motor skills.
1926359 tn?1331588139 m going down by a third a week-the doc said this was ambitious but I really want to be free so there you have it. If I can get a few nights good sleep I will be prepared to deal with the sleep deprivation again....Ugh. So easy to put in your body...so hard to get out. Wish me luck with the sleep fairies tonight....
Avatar n tn Pernicious Anemia has pretty much the same symptoms as Sleep Deprivation with the nice extra one of causing permanent damage to your Central Nervous System if you have it for too long. A blood test will check and see if you have it. If you do you'll have to inject yourself with B-12 for the rest of your life. Don't worry if needles bother you they couldn't make them much smaller than the ones you use for B-12. Don't trust your Sleep Docotors.
1819000 tn?1317078514 I know I am still in the possible MS phase, so it may not be the cause of my symptoms, but I was wondering if any of you have had permanent damage as a result of a flare up? More specifically permanent loss of sensation in various places? My left leg "went to sleep" back in January from my knee to my thigh, and has yet to return, I am now getting that tell tale numb sensation on my right leg when my shorts rub against my thigh.
Avatar m tn So, with my second child, I had some serious sleep deprivation. The kid wouldn't sleep for more than 1 to 2 hours and so I was up all night and it went on for a year. Sigh. What happened to me was a surreal experience maybe like what you describe. Sometimes on autopilot, going through the motions and then awareness would set in. So I do think sleep deprivation is the cause of what you are experiencing. I don't think it is a permanent issue of brain damage from it, thank goodness.
Avatar n tn That's a serious sleep deprivation system. It's hard to function on so little sleep. Have you always been prone to insomnia? Is your problem falling to sleep or do you wake up after falling to sleep and can't go back? Those are different sleep issues. Melatonin has been shown to work well for sleep and can be bought at any drug store. Talk to the pharmacist about using. More tested than CBT oil. good luck.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
Avatar m tn I have suffocated myself with my hands around 10 times in the last week, I hold it for around 20 seconds maximum, and every time I do it until i feel dizzy, the dizziness lasts under 5 seconds. My only concern is brain damage, what is the likely hood of that causing permanent brain damage. If it did, how severe, and if its irreversible. I did not lose my consciousness, was able to stand immediately after and during it, without stumbling. Only vision got blurry with dizziness for 5 seconds.
Avatar n tn I am just curious if those who has history of heroin addiction and has stop but continous using of marijuana and alcohol. My question is there a permanent damage in the brain for using heroin in the past. Will you categorize this person as an addict now because he keeps on smoking marijuana and drinking everynight. You dont know if you believe him or not. Are alcoholics and potuser will affect the brain also.,in a way of thinking,no direction in life all what he has to do is fix himself.
496208 tn?1271339076 I've been without my drug of choice for over 190 days now. I am pleased about that but I'm not happy. I wonder if I've done permanent brain damage to myself from opiate abuse. I'm wondering of the neurotransmitters are totally dead. I read many posts here about how eventually you are happy again and have energy and look forward to each new day. I'm waiting and I'm getting scared.
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
Avatar m tn I already was struggling with poor sleep due to sleep apnea that was undiagnosed at the time. At work my responsibilities increased and I was constantly rehashing in my mind the various decisions I had to make in selecting and writing specs for a data management software conversion. Then an extended family member was killed in the military and I had to plan the local service while the parents were out of state at the memorials on the base.
710547 tn?1295446030 Hello! The lack of feeling can definitely make it more difficult to walk. Lack of position sense and proprioception all interfere with mobility. There is a Facebook group called "The MS Gym". There, a personal trainer has outlined some seriously excellent personal training routines for those with ms. He does neurokinetic training to help bypass ms damage, and many people are seeing great success using these techniques. Have you had your sleep assessed with a sleep study?
Avatar f tn I want this pain to go away, and I am really afraid it is permanent clitoral damage. When it is at its worst, it makes my legs feel really warm. It's the most frustrating sensation I have ever encountered and the fact that I cannot do anything to make it disappear is terrifying. Please help. I know this is not much of a question, but I am driving myself insane trying to get it to go away and continuously failing.
Avatar m tn Sometimes when a patient has a bypass and on a pump for oxygen there can be some memory problems for a short while after the operation, and maybe the experience your father-in-law had with oxygen deprivation is similar as both conditions are related to lack of oxygen to the brain. Usually temporary but can be some permanent damage of brain cells. .
Avatar m tn Yes there is a possibility of permanent nerve damage as there is severe stenosis of foramina at C5-C6 level. The nerve roots come out of the spinal canal through the foramina. Any narrowing of the foramina will pinch the spinal nerve roots and if the narrowing is severe it can also cause permanent damage. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn A long-term abuser can literally end up with holes in the brain, while some become trapped in a permanent psychosis or experience chronic paranoid hallucinations. More commonly though chronic inhalant abusers experience memory and attention problems, as well as damage to organs like the heart, liver and kidneys Unfortunately it is growing in popularity.. I would imagen the Mountain Dew is for a severely dry mouth.. Hope this gives some insight..
Avatar f tn As to the concussion being permanent, in most cases, a single concussion should not cause permanent damage.
Avatar f tn Consider this though, restricted blood flow means decreased oxygen to your cells below the constriction, which in turn leads to necrosis, which in turn may lead to permanent or lasting damage. If you can change your sleep habits I would encourage you to, perhaps some meditation or reading 30min before going to sleep. I would avoid liquids, stimulant's, and electronics at least 30min prior to sleep.
