Avatar f tn When I got my colonoscopy my meds changed and I was being treated for diabetes. Metformin HCL 500mg was prescribed by my doctor. When I took all the meds in that I were taking she only opened up this Metformin and smelled it. She told me to smell it and it smelled like amonia. I never paid any attention to its smell. Doctor told me it was not the real metformin and the binders (chalk) used in it was probably causing me to have IBS.
225237 tn?1333138999 Ok I have been on metformin hcl ER 500 mg once at night. It has been almost two weeks since I started the medication.....for the past couple of days I noticed something in my bowel movement.....its in my morning stool it looks kinda orangish an kinda like a small carrot that has white stuff in the middle. I know this is totally disgusting but I need some advice! Could it be the metformin being released in my stool?? If so, does that mean I'm not getting my medication like I should??
Avatar f tn I just got a prescription for Metformin HCL 500 mg 1 tablet a day. Can you tell me if I can have an occasional drink if I am taking this medication, or does drinking any alcohol cause a problem? Once in a while I like to have a vodka & tonic.

Avatar f tn For a little over a month I have had clear semi-hard shelled objects coming out when I have a bowel movement. They are perfectly round and seem to be air/fluid filled. I don't feel them come out, they are not in my stool, but float freely and do not go down when you flush!! (which is how I realized I had them) I don't seem to have any of the obvious symptoms (i.e, stomach cramps, vomitting, headache etc) I haven't travelled anywhere or eaten anything strange.

Avatar m tn The Symptoms for the over production of HCL, and the under production of HCL, are virtually identical. The both cause Reflux, Belching, Bloating, Abdominal Discomfort, Irrecular Stools, etc. Unfortunately many doctors are prescribing Proton Pump Inhibitors or pH Blocking Medications to their Patiens which is making them Achlorhydric.
Avatar n tn I tested positive but I am allergic to Fluoxetine Hcl, Diphenhydramine Hcl, Doxycycline, Venlafaxine Hydrochloride, Fluoxetine, Azithromycin and Amoxicillin-Pot Clavulanate. What antibiotic can I take to treat this? Amoxicillin?
Avatar n tn Apple cider vinegar is a way to cleanse the body and balance acid and alkaline, but it doesn't increase stomach acid on a permanent basis. Betaine HCL is used for gallstones, not for stomach acidity, since it doesn't do that either. The reason is that neither stays in the stomach, so it can't permanently alter the acid/alkaline balance. The caution about HCL is more about using pure HCL food grade.
