Singulair or advair

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair or advair

singulair

Avatar n tn s really been struggling with breathing problems. He went to a different pulmonologist that put him back on Singulair, Advair (bigger dosage), Provetil (rescue inhaler), Claritin, and a drug for acid reflux--starts with 'o' but I can't remember the name. Anyway, after 2 days on this new regimen (hasn't started taking the Claritin though) the itching started. Has anyone else had this experience with Singulair?
370736 tn?1247242917 He said I should take Advair instead. On Fri I spoke to my RE and he said that I should listen to him or my OB about the singulair thing and not listen to the genetic counselor. He said that he would recommend taking the singulair and not the Advair. Well I stopped taking both and so far so good. Everybody said the Albuterol is okay...it's been tested for years. Good luck to you and I hope you don't get such conflicting views...so far I have 3 for Singulair and 1 for Advair...
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.
Avatar f tn I find that just taking medications when needed is not really managing my asthma.
Avatar f tn From vitamins to digestive enzymes. From Albuterol Sulfate (in nebulizer) to Singulair. Everything that I ingest in pill form or inhale (chemically) results in a SEVERE allergic reaction or SEVERE adverse reactions!! I've learned to combat the GERD by controlling my diet and eating more raw foods seems to do the trick. BUT my asthma really concerns me. When I last braved a nebulizer treatment with Albuterol, about an hour later I felt as if I were going to suffocate.
Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
Avatar n tn He does have asthma, it is being controlled with the advair, he was on singulair also but his script ran out and so did his insurance. He does also have allergies. He was really sick in March, he was out of school for a week. Three infections all in one. He was sick again last week, but not as bad.
Avatar m tn I was given Advair and Singulair for an allergy problem that was causing asthma symptoms. I had used Advair in the past with no side effects. I lost my sense of smell and taste almost immediately. I could only taste sweet and salty, and could not smell at all. I stopped taking both of the new drugs and got on the internet to find answers. When I saw that others had lost smell and taste with Advair I contacted my doctor and pharmacist.
Avatar m tn s Medication Guide advises that anyone with liver problems consult with their physician before taking Advair. The guide also states that no hepatic or renal testing has been performed on the medication despite the admission that patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have received abnormal liver function tests after having taken Advair.
Avatar m tn I have adult onset and have been on meds now for probably 8 years or so. I take Advair, Atrovent and Singulair plus have a rescue inhaler. Thankfully, mine is pretty well under control. The daily meds keep the inflammation in the airways down, so I would think that tapering off the meds as long as the asthma is not necessarily under control would not be a good idea! I understand the desire to be off the meds, though! Who wants to take all that nasty stuff?!
Avatar f tn I was tested for allergies 10 years ago, and the tests showed allergies to dust mites. I controlled it through environment. The symptoms I was having at the time (sneezing uncontrollably for hours in the mornings) went away, so I figured I outgrew them. Around the same time I had stomach problems and was diagnosed with acid reflux. I took meds for several years and then went off when the symptoms went away.
620048 tn?1358018235 The advair gave me thrush. I thought Singulair was for allergies but my PCP said it is good for asthma. It may not help because we all are different but it sure has helped me. I use less inhalers now.
Avatar m tn I was dx a few months back. Take advair twice a day (was taking singulair too, but it gave me a headache) & take aciphex daily for gerd. the aciphex has helped w/ the coughing some, but i still cough a good bit...sometimes to the point of dizziness. If I laugh, I cough. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I've been getting sick with a cold just about once a month for the past 6 months. My doctor told me it's because my asthma and allergies are not under control. I was on Advair for a few months, and they switched me to Asmanex because I was still getting frequent coughs. I'm on Zyrtec for allergies. I haven't been to an allergist yet to see what I'm allergic to (have an appointment coming up).
Avatar m tn Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind right now. My preventive asthma medication seems to cause nausea and general cloudiness when I take them. When I stop taking them, the dizziness stops so I know that it's the cause. I've tried a handful of different medicines like Flovent, Dulera, Qvar, Advair, Pulmicort and even Singulair and they all cause this nauseating effect. I'm wondering if any of you know what this might be and any way to stop it.
Avatar f tn anyone know of a doctor, preferrably in san diego county or southern cali, who isnt married to advair or any of the other inhaled steroids for environmentally caused asthma? do you know of anyone who has had success not using any inhaled steroids? thanks.
Avatar m tn Usually it goes away on its own. I currently take advair, singulair, and proventil hfa. It seems to help with it some. I'm still working on getting asthma under good control though. None of the doctors I went to mentioned having this kind of problem until I flat out asked and they said yes it is pretty common.
Avatar n tn I am 21 years old and I’ve been having a hard time breathing for the last 4 months. At first, I thought it was just my asthma and my doctor agreed, so he put me on Advair and Singulair for maintenance and Medrol to help bring the inflammation under control. Two weeks later, I still wasn’t better, so he raised the dosage on the Advair and put me on Prednisone for 15 days and ordered some tests (Chest X-Ray, bloodwork, spirometry, and an echocardiogram).
312330 tn?1245176752 Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.
Avatar n tn My mom who is 86 was diagnosed with COPD years and years ago. She took singulair and flovent inhaler and walked 3 miles a day. Two years ago she needed to use Duoneb via nebulizer. She was not short of breath at any time but had a few bouts with chronic bronchitis. Since moving to Florida a year ago, her husband died in Dec of 2007 and she is now short of breath. Her pulmonologist in FL took her off all of lung medications and within 3 days she was wheezing like a maniac.
Avatar f tn Any ideas or suggestions? I have chronic asthma since birth (born 2 months early). However, the past three weeks have been horrible. My life has been put on hold. I have been experiencing chest pain; wheezing;fatigue;shortness of breath with a low grade fever. On high doses of prednisone;duo neb treatments 4 times a day; tylenol for fever and Guaifenesin.Plus my everyday meds of Advair 500/50 twice a day 1 puff; Singulair 10 mg 1 time day and Protonix 40 mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with asthma a year ago and have been treated with Advair, Singulair and Albuterol as needed. I have been under good control until I was recently diagnosed with an eye conditon called central serous retinopathy. I was told by the retinal specialist that I can take no form of prednisone unless it is a life threatening issue because it could worsen the eye condition. Now I am having problems with my asthma since I have been off the Advair.Any suggestions?
1398693 tn?1343684738 25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before advair, SINGULAIR 10 MG PO TABS, ADVAIR DISKUS 500-50 MCG/DOSE IN AEPB 2X a day, QVAR 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day When I see me doctor primary or allergist they all ways tell me that my lungs are clear but I still can’t breathe I’m even having a problem breathing when he’s listening to my lungs. Could my lungs be chronically inflamed? I haven’t had an x-ray since February I don’t know why they won’t do an x-ray to see what’s going on?
178698 tn?1228774338 I told this to the PA and she did end up giving me a script. So I am taking Singulair and Advair and occassionally Proair. I realize there are risks with all medicines during pregnancy , but asthma is very common. How dangerous are these meds during pregnancy. Without them I just can't breathe. I rarely take the Proair...that's rescue inhaler.
Avatar m tn Am I just going to have to accept that this is as good as my breathing will ever be? I take Advair, Spireva and Singulair as well as OTC allergy meds.
Avatar f tn You are on either Advair, Smybicort, or Dulera (the only combo meds on the market) and most likely Singulair (leukotrient modifier). Acolate and Zyflo are other leukotrient modifiers, but Singulair is the go to for beginners. It is actually good to talk about the brands and how they work for you. One brand may work better for some people than it does for others. Knowing there are options and what they are is very helpful.
