Singulair how long

Common Questions and Answers about Singulair how long

Avatar m tn I am not 100% sure whether it was caused by Singulair and if yes how long he will have to wait until the effect is gone. Could this be Churg-Strauses? As parents, we are VERY worried. He needs sleep. He used to play sports, just like other boys, but now he can't do anything. He is tired all the time. Could you please contact me at ***@**** if you have any info? Please help save my son! It is killing me to watch him suffer every day. I am also looking for contact information of CINDY4.

Avatar n tn I am starting Singulair use with my doctor's recommendation. How long does one usually have to take it before they notice improvements with asthma/allergy symptoms? Thanks!
Avatar n tn So I wonder now if singulair could be one of the reasons for this diagnosis. Since this drug is fairly new in this country, not sure how many years - 10 maybe, I can't find any long term side affects of this drug. However, after reading some of the side affects that others have had, I am relatively sure I have experienced some too such as depression, etc. Thought I was just blue. Is there ANY documentation anywhere of long term side affects for the drug singulair?
640719 tn?1277143630 that my breathing is fine, it lets me calm down and they helps the breathing more than ventolin. If you are not happy with how the Singulair is working, defintely ask your doctor what else you can try, remember you're the one taking the medication and has the disease! Some times you know better than the doctors (be careful with that, old school doctors will get defensive!
486038 tn?1300066967 Oh, and my magnesium levels are still low, and he wasn't too happy about that either, so I'm still having to take more magnesium. Gracious, how is the question when your body don't like it. I'm on 1 a day now, but we'll have to see if that works or not. So, will that cortisone shot actually make anything else feel better? I've been reading up on prednisone and MS, and to be honest, I don't want to be on a good streak when I go to NYU, I'd rather them see it like it is.
Avatar n tn My allergy symptoms are bad, but Singulair side effects are worse, and it just reminds me of Big Pharma pushing drugs without adequate long term human clinical trials... the whole inadequacy of the FDA, and how dangerous it is to take any meds long term. The risks far outweigh any benefit from these pills.
Avatar f tn PLEASE HELP Let me add that she is NOT in tears because the Singulair has made her depressed, we heard all about that in the news. She is in tears because of the agony she's in because of how BAD her arms and legs feel all the time!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter is on Singulair and just finished a short course of Prednisone. On her 4th day [last day] of Prednisone, her legs and arms started to feel very weak and heavy and numb[she said they felt "thick"].
Avatar f tn Today, in my room, I was told by my doctor that he has a very strong possibility that I have Churg Strauss Syndrome and to stop taking Singulair immediately because some how another it exacerbates the disease. I know this was a lot to write and read also, but these are the issues flowing from my heart. My prayer is that this will help someone else recognize that they too my have Churg Strauss Syndrome and not Asthma.
Avatar f tn Now having anxiety and fearful thoughts. It was I Sonia last week. How long do these kind of side effects last and would taking an over the counter antihistimines help? I see a new allergist in 10 days. I am not having caffeine or alcohol. I am eating clean and limiting sugar. Help please!! Avatar m tn My girlfriend suffers from chronic asthma, which has resulted in nearly annual hospital stays. She found a specialist that seemed to have a temporary solution- daily Advair and Singulair medication (high dose) and Prednisone treatments every few months during recurring problems.
768044 tn?1294227036 I'm almost out of my Singulair. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday and I basically run out on Saturday so as long as I remember to get the prescription on Friday and fill it right away, I'll be fine. I'm making a note here though so I really don't forget!!! I got my flu shot today!! Both the regular flu shot and the H1N1 flu shot. So, hopefully I will not get the flu... I really really really do not want to get the flu.
Avatar m tn I was taking prednisone this year for about 2 months total and read it causes bone loss/high sugar. how long can I take it safely, can I take 10mg/day for 6 months to a year?
Avatar n tn I have been hospitalized since then, lots of medication, Asmanex, Advair, Singulair, Prednisone, Lasix, Cozaar, ALbuterol just to name the ones I can remember. How long will it take for me to recovery? What are the long term effects?
Avatar n tn What I want to know is could the Singulair have worked forever from that one packet I took (I took it every night for about 3 weeks)? How long do the effects last?
Avatar n tn I guess im wondering if these flu/virus like symptoms im experiencing in the last few days are potentially related to how i had been feeling? I've been sleeping 11-13 hrs a day in the last couple days and just totally blown out and sleepy all day, but it feels kind of distinct, like whatever was going on was its own thing, and then i got sick on top of it (because of it?).
Avatar f tn I had asthma as a child, then it went away for a while and came back while I was in the Army. When I wasn't having problems with asthma, I could run pretty fast over long distances. Now, I'm not so fast...I'm pretty much a turtle, though I can run for long distances. I don't seem to be getting much faster, even though I have a solid training plan. Does anyone know whether asthma can affect running performance even if there are no obvious breathing problems?
Avatar n tn oxygen dependent due to pulmonary fibrosis after chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis. I'm on Advair 500/50, Singulair, Allegra, Mucinex and have been stable for over a year. I also have a history of seasonal allergies (life long) and adult onset asthma. Two weeks ago some respiriatory infection set in: don't know if it was a virus intially--it felt that way--scratchy throat, tender glands, ears plugged. That all persists, after two courses of antibiotics and prednisone.
Avatar n tn have had post nasal drip as long as I can remember. I am a 52 yr old mail, 5'9", 195lbs. My PND gummed up the back of my throat enough in July of this year to wake me everytime I nod off. I am now on sleep medication, clonazepam, Lunesta, now but which is barely working, Atavan is better and I can sleep but sedatives cannot be taken forever and this PND doesn't seem to be going away.
Avatar m tn To be fair, maybe the Singulair is kicking in or I have finally been taking fish oil long enough for it to have an effect. It's impossible to be sure without continueed testing for the next couple months. What IS certain is that the body IS capable of reversing a serious electrical cardiac malfunction IF the right curative combination is discovered, if only temporarily. If anyone wants to explore this, google Eniva Vibe. It's a worthwhile $40 experiment.
1574314 tn?1296204882 When your asthma becomes out of control how many of you have been put on prednisone or medrol packs.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering when and how it will work. My chest xray is okay. My brother has severe asthma and he says that the prednisore will work but it does have some nasty side effects. I welcome all comments and information...........I have actually cracked a bone from coughing........I NEED to stop!
Avatar f tn 1) Overall, how did the doctor respond to our condition and what were some of his thoughts. 2) How long taking the antihistamines before you noticed a reduction in reactions? Thanks!
Avatar m tn What is the highest dose of allergy shots I can start with? I want to do 2-3x a week. I'm suffering from terrible wheezing, nausea, sleep suffocation, asthma for several years now.
Avatar f tn I think you posted a long time ago about your son and Singulair. My six year old took Singulair for 2 weeks and develped facial tics, twitches and other odd things. He's now been off for 10 days and we are still seeing it. Neuro appt. this week- so worried. Is your son okay now?
Avatar n tn The above post by amichall is correct take him to the doctor and ask about the meds, some meds do cause a lot of side effects and this little child has enough to cope with,as he cries so much I would think at thie stage it would be better to comfort him not use any time outs or punushment as I doubt he can help it, he is too young for punishment, does he sleep during the day as if he does he may not be able to sleep many hours at night so check on how long he naps during the day, focus on his po
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me antibiotic (amox) and singulair to take along with Clariton D. I took a 5mg dose of the Singulair but have now read a listing of side effects a mile long. My hands and feet sweaty and I am on edge. I should have read before I took the pill bc now I am worse than I was before. I cant find how long it stays in your system but I do see half life is 2.7-5.5 hrs. Does anyone know what "half life" means...and would that mean in 5.4-11hrs it will no longer be effective?
Avatar m tn which inhaler are you useing , i hate to use them because of heart flutters /fast heart beat.
Avatar m tn i bought an air purifier really hasnt made a huge difference..i have xopenex inhaler now i was giving azmacort steroid and singulair but to scared to use any of these things due to side effects i might encounter due to me be very sensitive as of late ive always had anxiety the only medication im on right now is prevacid for heart burn.
Avatar n tn In a person who has asthma, an allergic reaction to a medication can trigger an asthma attack. The most likely group of medications to cause this problem is non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, like aspirin and ibuprofen. In a person who does not have asthma, an allergic reaction to a medication will not cause that person to develop asthma.
