Avatar m tn m a 23 year old male, who takes Singuliar, 10mg, daily for asthma symptoms. However for the past few nights, I have been wheezing and coughing in bed at night to the point it disrupts my sleep, leaving me dragging the next day. During the day I do not wheeze and cough, just laying down at night in bed. Should I go see my doctor, or is this something due to change in weather (it has become noticably cooler in this area the past couple days), or something the medication will correct in time?

Avatar n tn When I say uncontolable I mean she was coughing non stop for hours at a time. He put her on an antibiotic (zpack) and gave her cough medicine with codine. 5 days later she was not any better. Brought her back to the doctors and they did a test for whooping cough(have to wait 2 weeks for the results) and a chest x-ray, which was fine and put her on steriods. A week later she was still not better. She was seen by a pulmonary specialist this morning. They do not know whats wrong with her.
Avatar f tn For most asthmatics night time is when it tends to flare up more. That is why he is coughing more at night. It will take a few days for the steroid to kick in. Just keep up with his treatments and keep an eye on his symptoms. Especially for sever shortness of breath. Also check to see if his skin between his ribs gets pulled in while breathing, that is also a sign of more severe lung obstruction. These are signs that he should be seen again.
Avatar n tn Since we discovered the loss - and got the aid - just over a year ago, his behavior and speech have improved. He also has allergy induced asthma. He takes Singulair daily and takes Pulmicort and Xopenex as needed via nebulizer when he starts to show signs of coughing. My husband and I went to his parent-teacher conference yesterday - for pre-school - and we were advised by his team (speech therapist, psychologist, etc.) that we should discuss his behavior with our pediatrician.
Avatar n tn He occasionally has a cough in the morning but nothing at night, and nothing during the rest of the day. He is off the nebulizers for now and is staying on his singulair. Am I missing something w/the dark circles? Any thoughts on why they're not going away?
Avatar f tn Urgent care doc gave me a trial of Singulair (10 mcg for 3-month) and started feel less cough, chest tight (now use 2-4 puffs per month) and tickle, but still feel a bit congested. In Aug, my PCP referred me to ENT and suggested to add Astelin for treating me persistent rhinitis. I did an allergy blood test for 13 kinds of environmental allergen but it’s negative. I did ask my PCP if I am having asthma. She said it’s only an allergy.
Avatar f tn I have added about 200mg of magnesium to his daily multi-vitamin/mineral supplement. And he has also been on Singulair for about a month now too.
645800 tn?1466860955 Losing thirty pounds and a strict no processed diet has helped. Also Zyrtec allergy pills everyday and Singulair. My insurance will not pay for Singulair at all. Rinsing my sinuses with saline and taking Mucinex. I take a lot of Mucinex this time of year. I used to take Benydrl and Chlortrimeton but they dried me out and impacted the mucus. I now hardly even need my Symbicort much less Albuteral. I used to have to sleep in a recliner. Eating was a bear because of choking.
Avatar m tn By Cingular, do you mean Singulair? I used it for a while and, if I remember correctly, I found it drying. Ask your doctor if that is what is causing the cough.
Avatar f tn What do you find Singulair did for you? I found that, for me, it did nothing.
486038 tn?1300063367 PCP basically throwing anything at the cough... I hope this mix added to what I'm already taking won't throw me for a loop. He couldn't listen to my lungs because evertime I breathe in I cough, so he is trying all this, and then will have me back in Monday. My BP is high, most likely due to the cough. Oh, and my magnesium levels are still low, and he wasn't too happy about that either, so I'm still having to take more magnesium.
Avatar n tn hi i have had a cough that causes my airway to close and makes it very difficult to breathe, they were like coughing spasms , i've had this cough for like 2 months, i've been to the doctor and they told me it has a chest infection and i was probably developing adult on set asthma,( they put me on binozyt for the infection which didnt work then augmentin which helped,)i'm 22 and never really was affect by this coughing problem till now, i was started on asthma meds (seretide diskus,
Avatar f tn The doctor also suggested to take SINGULAIR for 2-3 months. Not sure if that will really help. I will try 2-3 weeks at least. I haven't got a referral to a ped pulmo. I will ask for one if he still coughs after using the anti-biotic and SINGULAIR. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Her doctor has been closely watching her and put her on symbicort and the proventil hfa, and singulair. thanks for the heating pad tip!
Avatar f tn Every little bit does help. Your bedroom for sure! I also take singulair. I dont know what Qvar80 is. I take a lot of medication. Singulair, Advair, Flonase, and Allegra. When I get a sinus headache I also take Allegra D. I started getting allergy shots too. Im allergic to mold too. Have someone clean it or remove it if possible (within your financial means).Wear a mask when you have to be around it. All of this is extreme and a lot of work.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old daughter gets bad colds with coughing and slight weezing atleast 3 or 4 times out of the year. Her doctor has always perscribed albuterol and budesonide through a nebulizer. This time around when I took her he added Singulair and Prednisolone. He hasn't actually diagnosed her with asthma but her father and uncle both have it. Could she be getting it also and what kind of test should she get to see if she has asthma. Any suggestions would really help.
Avatar n tn I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now. Has anyone experienced such long term effects? If so, what can be done if anything?
Avatar f tn I am 50 years old. About 4 months ago, I started having these coughing spasms. They start with a little tickle and I began a spasmodic sort of coughing, until I often gag. In between these spasms I am fine, but they are becoming more frequent. I am a non-smoker. I had asthma as a child and the doctor has put me on two inhalers, a corticosteroid and albuterol, and Singulair. It hasn't helped. Now, to add to the coughing spasms, I have begun burping with them.
Avatar f tn He has been on the blood pressure medication for more than a year. They started him on Advair and Singulair in January, blaming his problems on his weight and asthma. If it is the asthma and coughing making him sick, why isn't he coughing or wheezing. We have dealt with asthma and coughing induced vomitting in the past but this is a whole other issue!) He is still vomtting and running a temperature. I have 4 children, two of which are older than him. I am not crazy! Something is so wrong!
Avatar m tn I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if anyone else has had these same symptoms before. First, a little background on me. I've had asthma for about 7 years. Mine gets worse when I get sick (i'll get a cough/wheezing) or when I exercise (cough/noticeable burning sensation in my back, chest). As for medications, I've been prescribed Singulair for several months, although the last month I've really taken it inconsistently, and probably only 3 or 4 times in the past 2 or 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn i just wanted to post a warning to other parents. my son was on singulair for over 3 years. he was taking the drug for treatment of mild asthma and allergies. he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Singulair for a few months now and I haven't noticed any negative side effect. I take it along with a daily inhaler for my asthma and it really has helped me a lot.
920032 tn?1550680156 lately my overnight breathing is causing me problems. i asked my gp for singulair but she prescribed atrovent. it does get mucus up but i am waking to cough it up. i have excersize induced asthma. it was on this site that i heard about singulair.
460830 tn?1347219306 Singulair could cause depression & suicide for some people that used it.
Avatar n tn I am a 45 yr old male. I have asthma from birth, and I use Aerius 1xd, Singulair 2xd, Symbicort 400/12 3xd, and Ventolin when needed. The last two years, whenever I have to cough really hard (the gasping for air kind), I frequently get to a point where I start "dry vomitting". I get a vomit reflex, but nothing comes out of my stomache., I only, explosively, force a lot of air out of my lungs.
