Avatar n tn I believe that my child has a behavorial issue. She has emotional outbursts and loses her temper really easy. If she gets upset, there is nothing we can do to snap her out of it. Sometimes I do something to distract her and she forgets that she was mad. She says mean things to her sister and grandmother. If she gets in the "zone" nothing I tell her phases her. She will not follow directions and does not care if she gets spanked.
Avatar m tn His teacher notes that he regularly does not complete assignments in class, he will flip his papers over and draw elaborate pictures. He disrupts the children around him by chatting or telling jokes and blurts out answers in class. When he actualy works on an assignment he nearly always gets 100%. This is what we find the most frustrating, we know he's smart!
Avatar m tn As, Singulair (montelukast) is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children. Singulair 10mg tablets contain the active ingredient montelukast, which is a type of medicine known as a leukotriene receptor antagonist. You may need regular inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta agonist such as salbutamol, to relieve your symptoms. Nebulization may help. Sometimes, steroids may be needed to control the symptoms.

Avatar f tn I have always had difficulty breathing in high humidity. My doctor told me that I am most likely allergic to mold, and the humidity is causing this to be worse. I have been prescribed an albuterol inhaler, and usually only have to use it about 3 weeks out of the year. Otherwise, I take Singulair year round. This year the humidity is especially high. I have had trouble breathing for over a month now.
Avatar n tn As you know the clinical trials of Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) were performed on children age 6 and above. Since we know the medicine is safe for use in very young children from Pulmicort Respules™ (budesonide inhalation suspension) the most likely reason they chose 6 and above was because many children less than age 6 would not be able to use this delivery device effectively.
Avatar f tn com and askapatient.com. Singulair is linked to suicide in teens. For some people, it has horrible side effects such as my son experienced. Good luck to you and your family.
Avatar n tn One common cause of these symptoms in children is chronic sinus inflammation. A CT scan of the sinuses is a safe way to make this diagnosis. You might discuss this with your Pediatrician.
Avatar m tn It causes asthma (Arizona Cypress, Mesquite and Palo Verde are the culprits.) Singulair has helped me very successfully in the past. However, I also take a very low dose blood pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg). I do not have health insurance and have an alternative source for medications. Would it be advisable for me to purchase Singulair for 3 months to get me through those three months next year. This year was a bit difficult without it.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar n tn 2 years ago he was put on Advair disk inhaler, Singulair, and Allegra D as his regimen. After about a month he started having a problem with his legs and groin itching. He took himself off the Singulair as that is what he decided was the problem. He has gotten by with just the Advair inhaler. In the past month he's really been struggling with breathing problems.
168348 tn?1379357075 Hello, I have a question about the side effects to Advair and Montlukast(Singulair). I was put on Advair 250/50 in July along with Singulair. I am losing my hair at the temples and I'm breaking out on my face, on the cheeks. I have not changed my makeup nor my cleaning regimine. I first blamed this on stress but it's non-stop. I'm wondering if this is due to the medication. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy to be able to breathe!

Avatar f tn is there another medicine similar to singulair that doesn't have the bad side effects
Avatar n tn Long-term use comes with serious side effects both for adults and for children, but more serious for children. If you are concerned ask your doctor for effective non-steroidal substitutes. I got off inhales steroids three years ago after suffering health problems caused by it. I now use natural anti-inflammatories plus nebulized albuterol and an anti-histamine.
Avatar n tn Hello :-). My son has asthma which manifests itself in a cough and often shows up during/after colds (he doesn't appear to have any problems with breathing in enough air... no emergencies, thank goodness). He takes Singulair every night, Albuterol as needed and Benadryl as needed (all as suggested by his doctor). He recently had a cold and his asthma flared up. We gave him albuterol via his nebulizer 3 times daily for around 6 days (his ped said 4-7 days).
Avatar n tn SINGULAIR 10mg once daily. Zyrtec 10mg in the morning. Nasacort AQ 1 puff in each nostril 2 times daily. Nebulizer every 8 hours until you get your strength back. Afterward take your medications and don't skip a dose. I believe you'll be amazed. Your Doctor should cooperate with you.
Avatar f tn Hi .. have you been to an allergist? Do you have any thoughts on what you may be allergic to? You may be very right bcz sometimes once the allergin is removed the asthma can get better. Have they considered what is called in the States Singulair at all ? It's a asthma prevention med aimed at blocking the leukatrins and works oftentimes with allergy driven asthma or RAD (reactive airway disease).
