Common Questions and Answers about Sildenafil heart failure

Avatar f tn Sexual activity is not recommended in patients with heart failure, unstable angina, recent heart attacks, abnormal heart rates and changes in blood pressure levels. Sildenafil exerts systemic vasodilating action causing a lowering of blood pressure. This effect is not clinically significant and does not cause any complaints in most of the patients.
Avatar f tn He was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension around March of this year by a cardiologist. Since then we have had him on sildenafil with regular check ups and heart scans to monitor his progress. During his latest check up his primary vet ran blood and urine and we discovered that he is in stage 3 renal failure and his kidneys are only working at about 20-30%. Like most on this forum, I feel guilt for not having caught this sooner.
Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.
Avatar m tn What is the maximum mg dosage of SILDENAFIL CITRATE a heart-healthy, very physically fit (20 mile bike rides) 64 year old can safely take?

Also, I have noticed that my urethra and the tip of the penis itches after ejaculation and a strong urge to urinate develops. Please help. Thanks.

Avatar m tn My doctor told me the delayed ejaculation is common with 50 mg dosage of Sildenafil and he said that Sildenafil 25 mg should be adequate and will not lead to delayed ejaculation. I don't smoke and have no other major health problems. Is it useful to have intercourse 3-4 hours after taking the pill (25 mg), to slightly reduce the effect of the pill on ejaculation ? Appreciate any advice related to this, thanks in advance !
Avatar m tn I tried sildenafil and tadalafil and both worked very well only a few first times - later the was a small or sometimes no response. My testosterone is high (810) and no smoking, not overweight, blood work works O.K. I'm 56 years old. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Hepatic Impairment In volunteers with hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class A and B), sildenafil clearance was reduced, resulting in higher plasma exposure of sildenafil (47% for Cmax and 85% for AUC). The pharmacokinetics of sildenafil in patients with severely impaired hepatic function (Child-Pugh Class C) have not been studied. A starting dose of 25 mg should be considered in patients with any degree of hepatic impairment [see Dosage and Administration (2.5) and Clinical Pharmacology (12.3)].
Avatar f tn I am now wondering if my stomach issues start over every time I take another bluechew pill (which is only once every few weeks). Has anyone else had stomach issues with viagra or generic sildenafil?
Avatar m tn I have dislipidemia and coronary heart disease. I had a minor MI in 2001 after which I was put on ASA, a beta blocker, an ACE inhibitor and a statin. In about 2006 I started having stable angina which led to a quad. CABG in 2007. My medications are much the same as before the surgery. My lipids are excellent. By BMI is on target but I should get more exercise. Within the past year, I had what I thought was stable angina. A dye test was performed and was negative.
1416390 tn?1333901604 My Bull terrier was diagnosed with heart failure and an undiagnosed lung disease- his heart is not strong enough to sedate him to diagnose. I have been given a couple of prescriptions but need to fill a couple more. One of them is for Sildenafil (aka Viagra) it's original intent was as a heart med- unfortunately it had the side effect that it does and so the prices are unbelievable. I need it to save my dog's life and can't afford it because of it's 'recreational' use.
Avatar f tn But your doc says it didn't do that to you. Relax. Live. And look inside and see if you have an anxiety problem.
Avatar m tn My Patty was diagnosed with Heart Failure 10 days ago, he had been doing pretty good, not liking taking his meds but now he is NOT wanting to eat and when we make it liquid and squirt it down his throat, it has started coming back up. He has no problem drinking and peeing. He is a month over 15 years old and my precious baby. Any ideas out there, he goes back to his dr in 2 days but I am about sick, his mom died of kidney failure and I hate to think this is happening to him.
Avatar m tn Those aren't the signs of ecstasy and certainly after a period of 2 months, the drug would be completely out of your system. I would go and have some blood tests to see what is going on.
Avatar n tn I now have many of the long term complications. The one that is most difficult is heart failure, specifically diastolic heart failure. I would like to communicate with others who are dealing with this to see if they experience the same issues that I do. I was diagnosed with this heart condition 5 years ago, and have had a triple bypass 2 years ago. The problems result from the interaction of the heart condition with my diabetes. Your response would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn There are doctors forums where you can ask an expert your question. If you go to the top where it says forums pick Doctors Forums. This forum is generally attended by patients only. You should also probably seek out a doctor in your area to go see to be evaluated in person. That said, palpitations don't necessarily mean anything. the heart has to be evaluated to know exactly what it is you are feeling and if what you are feeling is dangerous to your heart.
Avatar n tn You really need your doctor to give you an explanation about your report. Your report indicates that a portion of your heart is not beating properly and your heart is not pumping efficiently. Did your report give an ejection fraction (EF%) by chance? That would help. In any case, no one here is qualified to tell you the implications of your report, please see your doctor.
Avatar f tn I have health anxiety so I’m terrified I have heart failure. She said it’s asthma But my Inhaler doesn’t help and my breathing treatment only brought me from 73% to 75% on my lung function test. She did an ekg and it came back abnormal saying I have horizontal axis for age and Abnormal precordial QRS contours-nondiagnostic for this age. She literally said “I don’t know what that means but if you have heart failure you wouldn’t be able to breathe when lying down.
Avatar f tn No one here can possibly tell you its okay for your friend to take a non-prescribed opiate. He needs to ask his doctor about this. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Before I start, I should state that I am not looking for a diagnosis here, it would be idiotic of me to even think about asking for one given that no one here knows my medical history. What concerns me is this - for the last couple of years, I have been having spells of tachycardia and now have a resting heart rate of 110-130bpm. This constant tachy state leaves me tired and breathless.
