Common Questions and Answers about Sildenafil and pah

viagra

Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.

Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. My apologies for this delayed response. First, the PA pressures by the echo are all but meaningless. I simply can not comment on them since they are frequently wrong and not truly representative of actual PA pressures. I would strongly consider having your child evaluated by a national expert in pediatric PAH.
Avatar m tn Only abnormal findings were trivial TR and mild PAH with 40mm hg. There is no other mention. Is is possible to pick up PAH all of a sudden or deos it happen gradually?
Avatar n tn Right ventricle systole pressure (RVSP) is the systole pressure of the right ventricle and normal is 25-30mmHg. That accounts for the severe PAH. Hope this helps, if not feel free to followup. Thanks for sharing.
Avatar f tn If I did have PAH would my symptoms come and go or would they worsen over time? Thank you again for your time.

Avatar m tn My doctor told me the delayed ejaculation is common with 50 mg dosage of Sildenafil and he said that Sildenafil 25 mg should be adequate and will not lead to delayed ejaculation. I don't smoke and have no other major health problems. Is it useful to have intercourse 3-4 hours after taking the pill (25 mg), to slightly reduce the effect of the pill on ejaculation ? Appreciate any advice related to this, thanks in advance !
Avatar m tn I tried sildenafil and tadalafil and both worked very well only a few first times - later the was a small or sometimes no response. My testosterone is high (810) and no smoking, not overweight, blood work works O.K. I'm 56 years old. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Probably not the condition that I am pursing since the PAH as measured in earlier Echos preceded the cardiac surgery and the Pleural Effusion. The cardiologist believes that the PAH was due to a hole between my heart chambers from early age causing a shunt effect. The hole was closed during the bypass surgery. Thanks again!
Avatar m tn Hepatic Impairment In volunteers with hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class A and B), sildenafil clearance was reduced, resulting in higher plasma exposure of sildenafil (47% for Cmax and 85% for AUC). The pharmacokinetics of sildenafil in patients with severely impaired hepatic function (Child-Pugh Class C) have not been studied. A starting dose of 25 mg should be considered in patients with any degree of hepatic impairment [see Dosage and Administration (2.5) and Clinical Pharmacology (12.3)].
Avatar n tn Side Effects of Penegra? Like all medications, Penegra (sildenafil) can cause some side effects. These are usually mild & tolerable and don't last longer than a few hours. Some of these side effects are more likely to occur with higher doses of Penegra.
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with PAH, and chronic pulmonary heart failure. I am out of breath at rest, can hardly talk because of breathing problems, and have difficulty swallowing. I was wondering if anyone knows about how much time I have. Also, could my Ulcerative Colitis be a contributing factor? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am 83 and take Sildenafil once a week before breakfast and sex. I usually have an upset stomach for 1-2 hours after. It's the price I pay for sex.
Avatar f tn The doctor stated that they have done everything that they could do. She has PAH, Lung diease, Heart failure and also a diabetic. She is in the hosipal right now and has been there for the last 2 1/2 wks. Her oxygen level falls low as 69. Can you tell me is her oxygen level every going to level out.
Avatar m tn t live that long) and to have found happiness and marriage. PAH secondary to congenital heart disease will lead to an early death in all cases. There is some clinical improvement in some patients with the use of supplemental oxygen, and with medications used for erectile dysfunction (like Cialis and Viagra)--those medications can relax the blood vessels in the lungs and give some symptomatic relief to some patients. However that is not curative.

Avatar m tn I don't have ED but I was curious if my erections could be stronger. I spoke with my doctor and tried Cialis and Viagra. Since they have much different half-lives, I thought I'd try the following: Taking 10-20 mg Cialis every 2-3 days, then taking 20-40 mg Viagra (generic sildenafil) before sexual activity. My questions isn't whether this is effective - it certainly is. But is there any risk to doing this? I moved so I don't have a doctor right now.
Avatar f tn This effect is not clinically significant and does not cause any complaints in most of the patients. Inasmuch as the concomitant use of sildenafil citrate and alpha blockers may leads to symptomatic hypotension in certain patients, sildenafil should be used with caution in patients receiving alpha- adrenoblockers. The patients taking alpha blockers may use Viagra only after stabilizing of hemodynamic indexes.
Avatar m tn I have Systemic Sclerosis (10 odd years). Had echo in Sept due to palpitations/pain in left side of chest. Showed mild RAE and Moderate LAE and my RV was upper limits of normal. Have been on amlodipine and quinapril for about 6-7 years as well as other meds. My blood tests came back fine except for my RDW which is elevated. My NT-ProBNP was only at 6 pmol/L so very low. The Cardiologist immediately ruled out coronary disease - he said I was too young (40yrs old).
Avatar f tn Get it repaired while you still have ADEQUATE BI VENTRICULAR FUNCTION, and only moderate PAH, or pulmonary artery hypertension.
Avatar m tn Hello, Viagra affects blood cells and bloods vessels in the head, skin, causing annoying side effects such as headaches, flushed skin and indigestion, dizziness, hearing loss and visual effects such as blurred vision. Viagra works by causing the arteries to expand in order to encourage increased blood flow to the penis. This, in turn, affects the blood pressure and can possibly contribute to the development of an abnormal heart rate, a stroke or a heart attack.
