Avatar m tn amlodipine, Victrelis (boceprevir) Boceprevir may increase the blood levels and effects of amLODIPine. This can increase the risk of serious side effects such as irregular heart rhythm, fluid retention, swelling, heart failure, and excessively low blood pressure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
Avatar m tn I am a male 70 years of age. I have been on 150mg Irbesartan and 5mg Amlodipine daily since October 2010. This controlled by BP within acceptable limits. Since late April, however, the systolic has risen to an average of around 150. My doctor wants me to add a beta blocker to the other medications. Since last October my heart rate was averaging below 60. Since late April it is averaging around 70.
Avatar n tn My Dr. put me on lowest dose of Losartan and I got joint pain in my thumbs and then in a knee so I weaned myself off but my BP was very high (systolic) during visit. He puts me on Irbesartan, SAME class of drug, then goes on VACATION. It's the smallest dose and I took a corner of a pill yesterday, no pill today, BP is fine, I'm in PAIN. My thumbs hurt, my right foot and left knee, I don't feel well and then I read that all of this are side effects of this drug.
Avatar m tn Call your pharmacist or your doctor and ask if this is a known side effect of the med you're on. Ask if stopping has any risks, and if not, it's a good idea to stop and see if that solves your problem. Sometimes you have to taper off some meds but unless your BP is so high you're about to drop dead from it, most BP problems depending on your age and how long the problem has existed can be fixed by changing diet and lifestyle.
1553775 tn?1325182402 I looked at a couple of websites for paxil side effects and didn't see hypertension listed on any of them. Before discontinuing any medication you should check with your doctor but it's my understanding that diuretics are not meds that need to be tapered or have a rebound effect if stopped at any time.
Avatar m tn The reaction to ifn in terms of side effects is quite variable, many suffer from intense fatigue, feel like having a constant flu or become depressed, aggressive, even loose their jobs or marriages. If the sides are tolerable, then it should be given a chance to at least switch to a state of better immune control, even if hbsag loss cannot be achieved, which is currently the case in the majority of patients.
Avatar f tn Your medications generally do not cause diabetes. The hydrochlorothiazide in Dyazide can increase blood sugar levels in diabetics. Other risk factors for diabetes include advancing age, body weight and lack of exercise. If not already doing so, try some lifestyle modifications such as exercising regularly, eating few carbohydrates and sugars, and avoid smoking.
Avatar n tn Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
219609 tn?1210348114 What effect if any would Hydrochlorothiazide have on lab results, of TSH and free 4 and 3..Seems that when I get my labs after being on the water tabs they are lower. My question rises from I was on 150 synthroid and my labs would bounce from 5 to 7 TSH T4 free about 1.5 so while off the water tabs. I was still getting jitters so I switch to 100 levoxyl for 6 to 7 weeks and I had been on water pills during test and my labs came back with TSH of .08 and free T4 0f 1.7 and no jitters now.
Avatar m tn For example, if I consume eggs then I get persistent headaches, brain fog, heart pain, increased blood pressure (I’ve had spikes to 165/105), numb and prickly skin, stiff neck muscles/tension, a burning pain in my kidneys, a changed sense of smell (I start smelling a particular thing that isn’t there and/or my skin is creating some kind of specific smell), and in general I just feel like I’ve been poisoned.
Avatar f tn Hi, he just wants to be cautious as you are transferring medications. The effects of propranolol may vary with individuals. So, it is best to start with lower doses and progressively increase the dose if needed. Along with this you can practice lifestyle measures to keep the pressure at lower levels. Don't add additional salt in your diet. Exercise regularly and practice relaxation techniques to lower your stress levels. Regards.
Avatar n tn I'm curious if anyone has any new information. I too have excessive sweating and do take cymbalta. However, the sweatng didn't start until I stopped cymbalta for a month, and because the side effects of withdrawal were so horrible, I went back on cymbalta. It's been four months I've been back on it and still have the sweats.
478554 tn?1208034407 I seek alternative Hyrochorothiatide Diuretic HZT drug to avoid the side effect of raise Triglycerides. I have medium high blood pressure problem for years. Typical measurements is around 148 / 95 without medication, 138/89 with medication. I am seeking alternative to the Hyrochorothiatide diuretic HZT drug. My current blood pressure prescription are the following three drugs: 1. Diltiazem extended release 240mg 2. Amlodipine 2.5mg 3.
Avatar m tn Your father has occluded coronary vessels (ischemia) and apparently high blood pressure being treated with irbesartan and lasix is a diuretic. Clopidogrel is an anti-platelet medication to prevent clots. The reduced ejection fraction of 16% may be causing fluid buildup in the lungs and peripherals (arms and legs). I had an EF below 29% and was diagnosed with congested heart faiure...congestion was due to fluids in the lungs.
Avatar m tn t make much sense unless you are having side effects. A risk of a larger dose vs. smaller dose may be the reason...less toxicity in the system.
Avatar f tn It did what it was supposed to do, however I also developed post partum anxiety/depression and was put on Escitalopram, Alprazolam (as needed) and klonopin (1mg) at night only. The side effects of the labetalol for me were awful, so once my readings got better, I weaned off of it and am now not taking anything for Bp which usually stays in a good range (120-135 over 78-85). Some days it's a bit high and some days it's normal.
Avatar f tn I was placed on potassium citrate and hydrochlorothiazide but the medicines have horrific side effects. Also, has anyone experienced elevated blood glucose levels and elevated LFT's after taking these medications?
Avatar n tn m currently taking Irbesartan every morning and is now controlled well. I enjoy traveling in hot conditions, some days can be up to 39 degrees. Can my blood pressure medication stand such heat if I was to say just put it in my wallet? I'm always traveling to different places and don't always have access to a fridge or ice to take on hand. If not, are there any other heat resistance BP medication i can try?
Avatar f tn Haven't started the new medication yet. I read the info sheet and it said "this medication may cause vision loss or other unwanted side effects" although most of the common vision problems and eye pain may be temporary and would be reversed if stopping the medication was what I was told. Further research says HCTZ may be associated with severe eye conditions that may lead to permanent impairment such as glaucoma etc, although I don't know how common that is.
21064 tn?1309308733 I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
Avatar n tn The atenolol may not be the cause of the tiredness. It may be that her heart is weaker and causing her to be tired. When I took atenolol it did not make me tired at all. Atenolol did not make my mom tired.
Avatar f tn Now previously, in the past I had once been put on Furosemide. I had a bad reaction to it. I had some of the side effects listed under dangerous side effects and had to stop taking it. So I reminded my doctor of that and he put me on Hydrochlorothiazide. I took this for one day and was extremely sick the whole day. I started with some dizziness, and headache, then went to cramps which turned into very bad cramps.
Avatar n tn I have previously been diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve, which has created the secondary issue of an Enlarged Ascending Aortic Artery (or Aortic Aneurism). Fourteen months ago the aneurism was measured at 5.2cm, when I was prescribed to go onto blood pressure medication and lipids medications to help reduce the pressure in the artery. Three months ago, I had further scans (echocardiograph) to be told that the aneurism had shrunk back to 4.8cm.
Avatar f tn First doses of lisinopril can cause dizziness due to a drop in blood pressure. Lisinopril can cause nausea, headaches, anxiety, insomnia, drowsiness, nasal congestion and sexual dysfunction. Lisinopril should be stopped if there are symptoms or signs of an allergic reaction including feelings of swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and hives occasionally occur.
