Serzone depression

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone depression

serzone

Avatar n tn I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.
Avatar n tn t - What works for you or others did not work for me, the ONLY relief I got from my Major Vegatative Depression was Serzone, and only 200mg a day at that, that is all I ever took. I tried, Paxil, and laid awake literally for 2 weeks straight, tried Zoloft, Noritryptaline, Pamelor, Triavil ( Trilofon ?
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
Avatar m tn Paxil in 1996 (Worked amazingly well the first time, than stopped it because I thought I did not need it anymore..
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, amitryptiline, Paxil, trazadone, Serzone...all but MAOIs. They either had no effect or the averse effects outweighed the positive (zoloft kept me afloat by making me numb to all feelings altogether). Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years.
Avatar f tn I have been on Effexor and Serzone for Depression and they help a lot but I still have some symptoms od Depression. 3 years ago I started on Mirapex nor Restless leg syndrome and it was gradually increased to a 1 mg tablet 4 times a day. I found that it also helped my Depression significantly. Also I had been having constant nightmares all during the time I was asleep and all of that stopped. I have had no nightmares in the 3 years I having been taking Mirapex.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
Avatar f tn I am suffering from depression but I have Long Qt and am obese , diabetic and have svt's my GP has been unable to find any medication that is suitable - do you have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I gained weight from all of them. I really have gad and not much depression. I wish I could just take ativan but of course can't. I go to the dr. on Tuesday and would like to get a prescription. I am currently taking 5htp and doesn't seem to help much. What do I do?
Avatar m tn It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
681148 tn?1437661591 It is more likely for someone to have these dangerous side-effects if they have suffered from depression in the past or if they have a family history of depression. Still, I think if nothing else is working for you, and your doctor knows about your medical history and suggests Sibelium to you, it's worth a try.
Avatar m tn I have been on SSRIs on and off for last six years for GAD and depression ... None of them has really helped me ... I went to my doc and he prescribed me Luvox ... that was the only one I have not tried ... Now the problem is I have extreme fear of taking SSRis due to horrible stories that I have heard that they may cause permanent sexual dysfunction also known as PSSD ... For that reason I am going to request my doc to prescribe me either TCA or MOAI ...
Avatar f tn In re-reading the study, I see that it looked at just 4 new-generation ADs--Prozac, Effexor, Serzone, and Paxil. The authors used the freedom of information act to obtain ALL studies of the medications from the FDA (it says that most drug companies only publish information from successful studies). In fact, it seems that the main impetus here is to examine reporting bias, not drug efficacy.
484508 tn?1290010544 I did take Prozac, 20 mg and Serzone before it was removed from the market- for depression, but that was when it was mostly depression and I did not notice the anxiety portion. When I went back on Prozac a year ago after 3 days I had such anxiety that I almost ended up in the er. That is why the doc said to start slow at 10 mg. I started at 5mg. I think that the first day, taking 10mg, I had a serotoniun surge, so I cut back to 5.
Avatar m tn I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time. I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened. I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
612551 tn?1450022175 I think you can take CCBs and BBs at the same time. My idea is that you try that very slowly replacing the metoprolol with a CCB like verapamil and see if that works first and foremost clinically. If it does continue to try this replacement. Another idea is that you might try a light dose of an SSRI. Sometimes vivid dreaming is associated with mild depression or serotonin imbalance. I'm not sure if the BB might be having this effect, but it's a possibility.
Avatar f tn t think EPs or Cardiologists have much experience in treating depression or anxiety. I would personally rely more on my own Internet research then I would on these specialist for this type of issue. You might want to search out a doctor that specializes in this, treating cardiac and situational depression maybe? There are so many anti-ds, check into them. They all have very specific profiles, side effects, and withdrawal issues.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Avatar n tn But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone. If Serzone is in the same class and pulled off the market, wouldn't you be cautious with the others in the group and drug companies have a tendency at times to withold data.
Avatar f tn Leave it to a doctor to blame the alcohol & not the prescription drugs. I have a story to tell. In 1994 something in my mind changed do to a traumatic event. I lost focus, I stuttered, I had no idea what was happening to me. I was placed on Valium for 2 weeks. I functioned normally during those 2 weeks I just don't remember any of it but one little flash of being at work, just a spilt second.
Avatar m tn I got body jerks, metallic taste, no memory, disorientation, depression, anxiety, difficulty swallowing, buzzing in my ears, difficulty with balance, panic attacks, vertigo, high to low BP spikes... on and on. And the symptoms kept increasing. It effects your CNS. And cold turkey can lead to prolonged or permanent CNS damage. So, I took it very slow and had very little WD at the end. Last night I slept 6 hours without any drugs at all. Freedom.
