Symbicort contains budesonide and formoterol fumarate dihydrate and Advair contains fluticasone and salmeterol. So while they do not have the same medications, the medication groups are the same. So id Advair was helping you, Symbicort should also help you. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this.
You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
I went to a doc who said it was probably asthma and prescribed formoterol/budesonide and montelukast sodium. A few months later, my bedroom was treated for termite infestation, the fumes of which I presumed cleared up after about 4 days. After returning to my bedroom for a few nights, I woke up in a panic with severe SOB.
Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor.
I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
m 40 years old. In Autumn and Winter it increases and in Spring and Summer it tends to slow down or disappear for a while.
Recently I had to go to the Hospital because the VENTILAN aerosol was not producing any effect. There they gave my a prescription for an asthma control medicine named here in Portugal MAIZAR (50µg Salmeterol/250µg Fluticasona Propionate) which I'm taking twice a day with excellent results. I believe this medicine is also known as ADVAIR in other countries.
To my knowledge Advair® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) has not been linked to strokes. Have you heard anything about this in the lay press?
There are many philosophies, but one protocol suggests albuterol should be used first and ipratropium five minutes later. Try the foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation power). It too is expensive, but the company provides free samples.
I have been diagnosed with asthma and allergies and am taking medications for these . I am taking Alvesco and Uniphyl for my asthma and am in my second year of injections for my allergies [ pollen,trees,grass,ragweed and cats]. I have started a fitness program and a weight training program to help build up my cardio and aerobic strength. In spite of all this my Dr. keeps telling me that my asthma is not under control ,and refuses to change my medication.
I take Advair, (Fluticasone propionate / Salmeterol) once a daily inhaled. My asthma is not controlled without Advair, but is stable with one dose daily. I would like to take Harmine alkaloids (Harmine, Harmaline), but I'm not sure if Salmeterol is safe to take with Harmine alkaloids as they are MAOI (reversible MAOI however) are they safe to combine? Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma?

Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder contains 2 medicines. The inhaled steroid Flovent® (fluticasone propionate) has a half life of around 5 hours, so it would be totally out of your system in a few days. The inhaled long-acting bronchodilator Serevent® (salmeterol) has a similar half life, so it would be totally out of your system after 5 days.
When steroid side effects occur, they may linger for weeks or even months after the medicine has been stopped.
While it is known that high doses, much higher than Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder 500/50, of long-acting bronchodilator medicines, such as the Serevent® (salmeterol) in Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, this is rare.
You are correct in wanting to wait until you have achieved optimum benefit from the Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol, before any consideration of oxygen use. The Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol may raise your saturation, to a degree that will make oxygen use unnecessary.

The underlying cause would/could be inflammation in the airways that cause wheezing and/or coughing. Many infections, including pneumonia, can cause inflammation of the airways of the lungs. Even after the infection has cleared, it is possible for the inflammation to linger. This inflammation can last a couple of weeks. Sometimes this inflammation may linger for 3 to 6 months. The inflammation will eventually go away on it own.

Yes, but your comments said that the warning was on the ICS component. It isn't. It is on the LABA component only. To quote you, "I am wary of inhaled steroids because I have had serious side effect that were worse than the ailment it was supposed to treat. So if you are prescribed something like that, ask if there are alternatives. The FDA sent out warning a year ago about inhaled steroids.
Been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis, feline dander, housedust etc allergies. Also diagnosed with excercise induced asthma in the 90's. About a month ago wheezing. Doctor has me on 50mcg fluticasone/salmeterol powder am and pm,plus albuterol every 4 hrs. I haven't been using rescue every 4 hrs. When I talk I start coughing and choking and have to spit. What is going on with treatment?
Initially it started with allergies,then asthma.....initial days my ventolin and formoterol inhalers were working, but last 3 years it is not helping much...
I checked FEV which is 68% of predicted...but no significant increase in FEV1 after bronchodialator....
Every day I feel little tightnes, even if I take symbicort...daily moring and evening.....
saw pulmonologyst 5 months back, he suggested to continue with the same+singulair....

Advair is a combination of the same corticosteroid in Flovent (fluticasone) and a bronchodilator called salmeterol. Bronchodilators relax the muscles around the airways to relieve asthma symptoms like wheezing and coughing. So, Flovent is the steroid fluticasone. Advair is a combination salmeterol/fluticasone.

thankyou,i am with contact of my doctor ,he said there is no solution for damaged vertibras,but calcium and vitiman d and alendronate sodium/cholecaiciferol tablets will help spine and bones from further damages but what to do with prednisones i cant stop them because of asthma and taking of them will damage other bones isnt there any other solution instead of prednisones, i know there is nothing accept these because my doctor told me:(
