Rozerem or lunesta

Common Questions and Answers about Rozerem or lunesta

rozerem

Avatar n tn My doctor gave me Lunesta to sleep. I also tried Rozerem. Lunesta worked GREAT!!!!! The only side effect I had was strange taste in my mouth when it started to kick in. But I would fall asleep and STAY asleep for 7 to 8 hours. When I wake up, Im wide awke and feel rested. If not, after the first 3 nights of not sleeping I would have been in the hospital because I felt like I was going crazy. Rozerem did not work as fast at nite and I did wake up and was sleepy in the morning.
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried taking rozerem to help sleep when tapering? I tried Abien a few years ago and it wired me all night. Last night, I took ,1 clonidine and 2 soma and I just knew that would put me to sleep and all it did was give me a big buzz and i was wired for a few hours. I know I just need some sleep!
Avatar m tn It appears to be similar in efficacy and like Ambien is meant for short term use only. Unless you've tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
266660 tn?1189755834 Lunesta seems to work okay for me. I've only taken it three or four times (I only take it as needed and not on a nightly basis.) I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and she said to not take it with Lunesta (this is after I asked *her*, she didn't mention it until then.) The Klonopin seems to work as well as the Lunesta, BTW. Kevin, I've read that Lunesta and Ambien are the same "types" of sleep aids but that is all I know. I hope Ryan can clear this up for us.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
603015 tn?1329862973 Sonata and Ambien are for short term use only. Lunesta can be used safely everyday. Rozerem works in the same manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order.
Avatar n tn That site and some others linked up here will give you clinically accurate advice from a consumer perspective to educate yourself and bring to your psychiatrist. Lunesta and Rozerem are good options for sleep, especially Rozerem which in working like melatonin can actually adjust the sleep cycle. However, if Effexor was prescribed as an anti-depressent let that get adjusted before trying additional sleep aids as untreated depression causes insomnia.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have firsthand experience/knowledge/comments/recommendations regarding Rozerum? I'd greatly appreciate any and all input and/or insight, where it be good, bad, or indifferent, or information from anyone who has done research regarding its use (if the latter is the case, please send me the URL to bookmarked articles or other medical literature, especially regarding its efficacy.
Avatar f tn s in the long run but the effect can be masked while it is occuring and should not be given for assistance with sleeping for this reason. Lunesta and Rozerem are known sleep aides that are safe and effective and can be taken every day especially Rozerem which is derived from Melatonin and helps regulate the sleep cycle.
736314 tn?1276884623 I am taking lunesta and guess what. I am wide awake. It usually works for me but not tonight i guess.
Avatar f tn I take 3mg/night. Should I taper the Lunesta. My next refill could be filled at 2mg, and so on. Or would it be ok to just quit. I expect rebound insomnia. Ill take tylenol pm or benadryl and do my best. Ive heard its similar to a benzo (surprise) so I would like to avoid any type of benzo type w/drawal, which Ive never had but heard are horrendous.
741315 tn?1232458427 Ambien is not meant for everyday use as a sleeping aide as it can be addictive. Lunesta or Rozerem are two better choices. Rozerem works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. Those are some ideas to speak to your psychiatrist about.
736314 tn?1276884623 Speak to your psychiatrist about it as that's of concern as its some form of intoxicating effect with the interactions. It may very well go away (I've had it happen with medications and it passed) but they should know. Normally there wouldn't be this problem as unlike Ativan (lorazepam) Buspar does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it (though it is less effective).
Avatar m tn There are safer sleeping medications such as Lunesta and Rozerem. My concern about Trazadone is the fact that it can cause tardive dyskinesia. If you are not taking it for depression but as a sleep aid you might want to ask your psychiatrist about the two I mentioned. This link is from a psychiatric journal and lists all known medications that can cause tardive dyskinesia and Trazadone is clearly listed as one.
Avatar f tn thanks you guys, that really helped.
Avatar f tn Yes I agree. Truthfully I could not tolerate Rozerem or Lunesta and I had the same side effects from Lunesta (the metallic taste in the mouth). They also caused personality changes in me. Lunesta made me manic. Rozerem brought me into an agitated mixed state.
Avatar n tn They are at best habit forming, at worst addictive, and wear off over time. I would always try natural remedies such as melatonin or homeopathy first or a sleep disorder clinic and therapy rather than get the bad sleep one gets on medication. A cure is better than medication, and if you can't find one, the medication will always be there as a last resort.
202665 tn?1248806733 eventually get a couple hours sleep, and still have high energy the next day...or couple days...until I crash. Just curious if anyone else has had same issues?
Avatar m tn I have had sex a few times, but only with my girlfriend of 2 years with whom we lost our virginity together. I take prescribed Nuvigil during the day, and prescribed Lunesta and Rozerem cocktail at night. (Yes, I have really messed up sleeping problems).
Avatar f tn I haven't slept thru the night in at lest 6 months. Before That, I go thru the same boughts. I awake around 3:00 every morning, wide awake. Go to bed about 11:00, sometimes earlier. No naps when I'm not really depressed in a bad way. I have tried Trazadone, Ambien and Lunesta in the past years. They all keep me awake and once I finally sleep I'm up in the middle of the night wide awake. Any suggestions on a pill to keep me asleep that I can ask my pdoc to try.
Avatar f tn Please don't do anything without speaking to your psychiatrist. Lamictal is generally a very tolerable mood stabilizer. If you find you can't tolerate it speak to your psychiatrist. There are many viable options listed on the links page. As regarding mood stabilizers if you stop them the moodswings and full symptoms of mania and depression return. As for Ambien if you can't tolerate it you can ask your psychiatrist about changing it.
Avatar f tn Hello! Which sleeping pill is stronger, Belsomra or Rozerem? I take 2 tablets of Belsomra at night for 20 mg plus 2 tablets of Donormil. Should I try Rozerem?
Avatar m tn Personally I have been able to work my way through a list of meds to find one that works for me; Trazodone, Rozerem, Lunesta, Ambien, and finally Ambien CR which I consider a miracle drug. Hope this helps and hope you decide to see your doc. Good Luck!
737831 tn?1232095919 html I would speak to a psychiatrist about getting medications adjusted in general. If you still have a sleeping problem, after that, Lunesta and Rozerem are good options. Rozerem works in the same exact manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle and is non addictive. Those are two worth inquiring about, Rozerem especially. But sometimes untreated bipolar or depression causes insomnia on its own so have that issue addressed first.
Avatar n tn My 6 1/2 year old girl has quite a patch of longer, darker axillary hair. Doesn't have pubic hair or breast development... She has always been tall for her age--but both parents are too (5'10" & 6'3"). I didn't really link this until reading up a bit, but she started having strong sweat odor at about 5 y.o. She also has a sleep disorder that we finally saw a pediatric sleep specialist for-- now she uses a blue spectrum light every morning.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar m tn 5mg (half pill), 3mg (full pill), or 4.5mg - one and half pills). I usually do 175mg trazadone plus half pill lunesta for sleep almost every night. i've been on the sleep meds for about 2-3 months. Sometimes, i take just lunesta since I have retrograde ejaculation due to trazadone. I take these medications for sleep insommnia. They work. I also take propecia for hair loss (not sure that it's related). I also take cialis/viagra as needed for ED that started about 5-6 years ago.
Avatar f tn I took Lunesta 3mg, or whatever highest dose is, for a month. I never got over the metallic taste either so I stopped. I didn't have any issues stopping, but it didn't work well for me with sleep anyway. I would try only when needed.
