Rozerem and risk of dependency

Common Questions and Answers about Rozerem and risk of dependency

rozerem

Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for your question. Questions regarding medication are best discussed with your doctor as they prescribe the medication and know your particular situation. What is your specific issue with insomnia? Rozerem seems to be best used for those who don't fall asleep easily. Is that your situation? It works on melatonin and is not supposed to be habit forming which is a great benefit. https://www.medicinenet.com/rozerem/article.
Avatar m tn I tried Abien a few years ago and it wired me all night. Last night, I took ,1 clonidine and 2 soma and I just knew that would put me to sleep and all it did was give me a big buzz and i was wired for a few hours. I know I just need some sleep!
603015 tn?1329862973 That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order. And as for Rozerem and Lunesta unlike the other two medications which have to be withdrawn over time if someone has built up a tolerance to them, being that this is not an issue, if the medication for bipolar adjusts itself and your sleeping becomes more normal you can stop them at that point without a problem. You might ask about those two especially Rozerem.
Avatar f tn s something I never heard of before....is iodine available OTC? I never would have though of that and I have done alot of reading on various sleep disorders. I think I have delayed sleep onset. I cannot sleep when the rest of the world is sleeping. If I am left to my own schedule (fall asleep 6a-8a sleep until 2pm) I sleep fine. It is very lonely to be only one awake but I am used to it. In my case my sleeping difficulties have not been present for 3 months, 6 months but for many years.
Avatar f tn Hello! Can I take Belsomra and Rozerem together if the effect of one drug is not enough?
Avatar f tn I have chronic insomnia amid anxiety disorder. Can I use Rozerem at a dosage of 16 mg if 8 mg will not help?
1349329 tn?1276985202 PILL, this is a highly addictive med that has ruined hundreds of peoples lives its just as addictive as your hydro and far worse to come off of here is some more info on it ... I was one of the unlucky ones that ended up VERY addicted and BTW I never took more then the max dose a day I have seen alot of info latley on tramadol some every incorrect .So I thought I would put some infromation together so everyone will have a better understanding of it .
Avatar m tn However, there is no known interaction between rozerem and sertraline. You could try and adopt good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoidance of alcohol, smoking and caffeinated beverages. Try and maintain a warm, comfortable bedroom environment and engage in relaxing activities like a warm bath before bed time. Hope This Helped and Do Keep Us Posted.
Avatar n tn She is currently in dosage of 25/150, 25/150, 25/100, and around 0.16 requip before sleep together with Rozerem 8mg and Zyprexa 1.25 mg. (I forgot to mention Zyprexa in previous post) But strangest thing is she becomes much more difficulty in falling and staying asleep. In theory, if the dyskinesia/teeth grinding went away, she should feel much better and more easier to get into sleep. But it does not.
Avatar m tn In the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley, she states (p162) "providing the medication is taken as prescribed, there is not a risk for addiction. Dosages are low and not anywhere near the amount required to develop a dependency." She also states that (p163), "studies have consistently found no association between stimulant medication and increased risk of later drug use.
Avatar m tn t change anything without consulting your psychiatrist but print out the link and show it to the person and perhaps they would consider changing you to one of the two I suggested which are safe for long term use and non addictive.
Avatar m tn There have been concerns about the safety of melatonin from what I know so Rozerem being an FDA approved medication in that in works in the same manner but is a known quantity is a better option. I was precribed Rozerem a while back to use as needed and I do so responsibly but it hasn't been in a long time. It can if directed by a psychiatrist be used every day to work to adjust the sleep cycle and has been helpful for some people I know in that regard.
Avatar n tn But I would fall asleep and STAY asleep for 7 to 8 hours. When I wake up, Im wide awke and feel rested. If not, after the first 3 nights of not sleeping I would have been in the hospital because I felt like I was going crazy. Rozerem did not work as fast at nite and I did wake up and was sleepy in the morning. My brother in law takes it. He seems to like it. But hes also not an addict of any sort. Ambien CR is scary. When it starts to work I felt like I was paralized.
994257 tn?1266242692 I know since I had trouble falling asleep in addition to sleep disruption I was prescribed the sleep aide Rozerem which is non addictive and actually adjusts the sleep cycle like melatonin but I don't know if it would be prescribed for sleep disruption but you could ask your psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn It appears to be similar in efficacy and like Ambien is meant for short term use only. Unless you've tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar f tn People can be on the same dose of psyc meds for years and years and it works the same as it did the first year they were on it. Under your logic people are addicted to blood pressure medicine or diabetes medicine. I really don't think doctor shopping for ambien is patient empowerment.
Avatar n tn She denies she has a problem even though she has been made to start a NA and AA program due to her probation terms, and she is on probation for writing bad prescriptions for Hydrocotone. She recently asked a friend if she knew anyone who she could get the drug from. She is so badly addicted. I know her boyfriend is given the drug for disc problems, however I don't think he gives her any, he is wise to her.
Avatar f tn I have been forced to quit working due to chronic pain from multiple back injuries/surgeries. There is a lot of shame that goes along with taking pain medication because of all of the sigmas that go along with them. A lot of people become addicted to the meds while taking them for legitimate reasons and feel guilty because they now 'have' to take their meds to avoid withdrawal symptoms as well as for the pain.
Avatar n tn I recognize the tolerance build-up and now the dependency. I was placed on the drug because of anxiety and panic attacks. The attacks now come nearly nightly and during the day. I don't fear them as I did in the beginning because I recognize that they will soon pass. My question is how do I wean myself from the Klonopin? I feel I need it but at the same time it almost seems that the drug is causing the very symptoms from which I'm trying to rid myself.
Avatar f tn I am very sensitive to most psych meds. Currently taking Celexa 1mg daily, lamictal 12.5mg daily and seroquel 50 mg at bedtime to help me sleep. I've had problems with getting to sleep and staying asleep for several years. How long can I continue to take seroquel for sleep? Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
Avatar f tn I am a mother of 2 as well and it kills me to think that i am not completely present for them even though when i take the pills i tell myself it is to keep up with them and be happy with them. However I know it is a mask of happiness and not real. Of course all of this is easier said than done. Thank you.
Avatar f tn s in the long run but the effect can be masked while it is occuring and should not be given for assistance with sleeping for this reason. Lunesta and Rozerem are known sleep aides that are safe and effective and can be taken every day especially Rozerem which is derived from Melatonin and helps regulate the sleep cycle.
Avatar m tn Hello, Protopic cannot cause dependency or rebound but it should always be used under medical supervision as it has plenty of side effects and can cause increased risk of malignancies. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
439168 tn?1307931740 I took ambien in the past, but I hallucinated with it. Does anyone know of any mood stabilizers that they are tolerating well? And sleeping medications or remedies that work for them? I have to be careful if the side effects effect the heart because I have issues there....I can't take anything that will increase my heartrate. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Can anyone let me know if Rozerem 8mg (RX sleep aid) and Prozac 20 mg (antidepressant) are safe to take with methadone (15mg daily) I am detoxing after 15 years on MMT and have slowly "tapered" my dose from 60mg daily to 15mg daily. I am having some insomnia & depression/antiety issues related to my husband being on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Just want to make sure i'm not gonna "croak" if I take the other meds.
