Rozerem and hyperthyroid thyroid disease

Common Questions and Answers about Rozerem and hyperthyroid thyroid disease

Avatar f tn I have hyper thyroid as well and I told my specialist I was pregnant and he switched my prescription from methimazole to P.T.U right away. Otherwise plenty of women have hyper thyroid and still carry to term a normal healthy baby. I wouldn't worry but if you're taking anything for it I suggest you tell your OBGYN and your Thyroid doc.
Avatar n tn Ive read in many places that anxiety and hyperthyroid are linked. im wondering if anyone can help me understand that if a hyperthyroid gland can cause anxiety OR the anxiety symptoms are mistaken for the hyperthyroid. i currently am being treated for hyperthyroid & graves disease which has been leveled thru the use of medication but i am convinced i have generalized anxiety. im planning on seeing a doctor about this but just would like to see how the two were linked.
Avatar n tn My question is if you know of any interaction between TB drug and thyroid function? and if my thyroid disease is a result of such interaction would this condition pass?
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." *** I've had both Hashi's and Graves antibodies simultaneously but I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis previously.
Avatar f tn Too much thyroid medication (especially from pig thyroid preparations such as naturethroid and armour) can cause heart disease. 2 grains is a high dose -- if continued, would divide into 1 grain in am, 1 grain in early afternoon, but levothyroxine is preferred. Any change in estrogen medications can alter thyroid hormone requirements.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doctor to test for thyroid antibodies, just to make sure you really have Graves Disease. The antibodies you need are Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab) to confirm Hashimoto's. The definitive test for Graves Disease is Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI)... If you never had that test and it was positive, you can't be sure you have Graves Disease.
Avatar n tn Since thyroid disease runs in my family, and I have borderline hyperthyroid tendencies, I always keep an eye on the thyroid board on MedHelp. The folks there are very knowledgeable. You may want to pop in there for some advice as well. Both diseases (FM and Graves symptoms overlap) Make sure you stop back in both places. Take care.
Avatar m tn What are your current thyroid levels? TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have Graves Disease?
Avatar f tn my mother had hyperthyroid/graves disease and goiter... I was tested @13yrs old and was found to have slightly hyperactive thyroid.... well @30yrs old I now have a goiter and 2 nodules.... but when I went back to endo.. they said that they think we never had hyperthyroid that we possibly have a genetic autoimmune disease... they said there are several that can cause a secondary thyroid response.....
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with hyperthyroid and have lots of antibodies and severe itching of the skin, bulging eyes i am always tired. I am guessing that i have an auto immune disorder but don't know which one? Do you have any clue?
Avatar f tn Call the office where your tests for thyroid disease was taken and get a copy of the labs. Post your tests results here.
Avatar f tn Hello Jen, I suffer from Graves Disease and come from a family with a long history of Thyroid problems. It is possible to have Graves Disease and go from Hyper to Hypo. I am one of those people. Brief periods of Hypothyroidism. When my heart was beating 160 plus a minute and I began shaking like a person with Parkinsons Disease also, after going from 155 Pounds to 112 was I diagnosed with GD. GD is a walk in the park compared to the WRONG choices of treatment I took afterwards.
Avatar f tn My mother was diagnosed in her early 40s with graves disease and her thyroid was removed, around the same time she was diagnosed with stage 3-4 colon cancer. I'm aware there are connections between autoimmune diseases and thyroid and intestinal diseases/conditions. As I'm getting older I'm noticing I'm following in the same physiological footsteps my mother did before she was diagnosed.
Avatar n tn s patients have been known to actually transition over to Graves Disease over time, when having both types of antibodies (those that destroy thyroid cells and those that stimulate thyroid hormone production) and they become progressively hyperthyroid (not common).
393986 tn?1303825975 In early stage auto immune thyroid, you are hyperthyroid first and then as the damage to the thyroid continues, hypothyroidism sets in. Ada, do you have nodules or a goiter? That could be the reason why the doctor thought of this syndrome. hsCRP (high sensitivity C-reactive Protein) is mainly used to detect cardiovascular disease. CRP is for all other inflammation markers, such as autoimmune diseases and cancer, etc.
Avatar m tn Hmmm ... as I understand it there are cases when people have a combination of Hashimoto's (which can but doesn't necessarily have to lead to symptoms of hypothyroidism) and Graves' disease (which can but doesn't necessarily have to lead to symptoms of hyperthyroidism).
10771583 tn?1412675389 I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and for a couple of months Graves antibodies showed up. The combination of both conditions is sometimes called Hashitoxicosis. For me, I was VERY hyperthyroid but my labs showed subclinical hypothyroidism. Weird lab results when both antibodies show up. However, you can have Graves disease with thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibodies (TgAb) and not have Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Avatar m tn My question is, my hyperthyroid comes and goes. I kept a check on my TSH T3, and T4 every few months. Its very fustrating to be fine for a couple months and then my symptoms go into overdrive and they cycle keeps repeating itself. My symptoms are racing heart, all over shakiness, weightloss ( that I put back on when my levels go normal) some anxiety and diziness at times. My endocrnologist will not treat me for the hyperthyroid because I go fom normal to out of whack.
Avatar m tn TSH — typically low in Graves disease Total or free T4 — usually elevated Total or free T3 — often elevated Laboratory tests used to help diagnose Graves disease and distinguish it from other autoimmune conditions may include one or more tests used to detect the presence of thyroid antibodies: Thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) — The presence of this antibody is diagnostic for Graves disease.
5820022 tn?1378512355 Bloodworm revealed that my T3 and T4 hormone levels were three times the norm. My doctor believes that the disease presented during puberty and has gone in diagnosed until this year because the changes that came with the thyroid issues were dismissed as hormonal changes from puberty. I rarely get ill so I have not been to the doctor for a very long time until now.
Avatar n tn Hi, first of all i'm not a Dr. and I definitely think this is something you should address with your endocrinologist but I'm a thyroid disease sufferer myself and here is what i think: it's important to remember that having hyper or hypo thyroidism does not mean you will exhibit all of the many symptoms that are sometimes associated with the diseases.... for example, i was diagnosed as being HYPOthyroid even though i'm 5'5" and 105 (under weight.
1663743 tn?1302916403 I never had issues with my thyroid until this pregnancy and I know my levels were normal in the beginning but now (36 weeks) on meds for under active thyroid idk if it will go away after or not and only symptom I had was being overly tired for a majority of my pregnancy
1085124 tn?1256507063 Hi, I'm hyperthyroid too, due to Graves disease. I'm 40 years old and last few months had breast tenderness from ovulation right up until my period starts, which is for 2 weeks at least. What are your thyroid levels maybe we could compare?
Avatar f tn Inflammation, tissues and tumor necrosis can also elevate CPK. Too low a dose of Methimazole could account for under-control of your cat’s hyperthyroid disease and over-catabolism continues, thus elevating CPK. Potassium is an electrolyte lost from vomiting, diarrhea, or excessive urination. While the most common cause of low potassium is chronic renal failure, low potassium is also associated with hyperthyroid, however, the etiology is unknown.
Avatar n tn 5% and my thyroid ultrasound indicated a multinodular goiter. I am an RN and having been seeing both my GP and an endocrinolgist for this problem and have been given Metoprolol 25 mg bid and Ativan 0.5 mg prn. I am currently taking approx 5 tablets of Ativan daily to help with the anxiety.
