Common Questions and Answers about Rosuvastatin calcium

crestor

Avatar n tn t really answer your question, but from my experience, they are crap, not only based on what I just described but also during the time I have been taking them my Calcium Score went through the roof. Now, the pat answer to that would be: "If you wouldn't have taking them it would probably be much worse." But why then do they advertise: "Will prevent plaque" and not "It could be much worse if you don't take them.
Avatar m tn I am 49 yr old male, non-smoker, and my score has jumped 73 points in 5 years to 126 even though I have been on 5 mg (and 10 mg the past year) of rosuvastatin over the last 5 years. My LDL was 127 a year ago. Stress test 7 years ago was fine. Any advice? Also, is this an accurate statement? A calcium score of 101-400 signifies intermediate risk of an event. The predicted 10-year chance of an event is between 13-16%.
Avatar n tn However, there is also the risk of liver inflammation due to the medicine Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and it is conceivable that there could be an additive effect of Crestor® (rosuvastatin) and INH. In addition, niacin may increase the risk of muscle disease called myopathy when used with Crestor® (rosuvastatin). Crestor® (rosuvastatin) significantly increases the INR (enhances the effect of Coumadin to make your blood “thinner” than it would be alone.
Avatar n tn doctor has adviced me to take rosuvastatin and fenofibrate tablets.can you please tell me whether it helps to reduce weight?
Avatar m tn The authors concluded that, in apparently healthy persons with elevated C-reactive protein levels, rosuvastatin (Crestor) significantly reduced the incidence of major cardiovascular events. Their much-publicized claim, that this statin lowers the risk of heart attack by approximately one half, is technically correct though highly misleading. The reported annual incidence of coronary events was 37 people in 10,000 (controls) and 17 people in 10,000 (treated).
Avatar m tn It simply mentions high HDL being responsible. Perhaps someone can show me where calcium is absorbed by HDL? Calcium is stored in the skeleton, transported as ions or bonded to Serum albumin, not HDL. All other research I've read simply says such regimes CAN STABILISE plaque, they mention nothing about actual regression. I wonder why so many patients regularly exercising and taking statins are finding that they require more stents.
Avatar n tn Hi Driven, you need to go through them and see for your self about the side effects, but there a lot of drugs out that cause ED as side effects, if yoiu dont now have your drug data sheets anymore just google them.
Avatar m tn I don't know about an absolute reversal, but I have concluded that like every other chronic illness, CAD results from chronic inflammation and oxidation; and the body's stress system's attempt to manage those two problem (on the backdrop of a genome). The endothelium has a limited number of responses to a multitude of insults. Oxidation and inflammation beget one another.
Avatar f tn The cardiologist at a private medical centre was not able to help much to control the rate, and he was prescribed Herbesser 200mg (diltiazem), Propranolol 20mg (10mg x 2), Lasix, Slow K (potassium supplement), warfarin 2mg and rosuvastatin 10mg (for cholesterol). But his condition persists. He gets breathless easily. We have heard of ways to cure Afib, one of which is ablation, and have contacted the National Heart Institute.

Avatar f tn Hi Mara, do you remember if you had a sever neck trauma one day in the past ?
Avatar m tn Two medicated stents were later inserted. Presently, I am regularly taking Asprin, Clopedogrel, Rosuvastatin, Atenolol and Amlodipine. My blood pressure, except for once shooting up to 170/110, remains around 125/85. I am now fully active. How this happened ? Now, I have again started having low grade pain in the left wrist and forearm, without any corresponding pain in the upper arm or the chest. Can this be a Referred Angina Pain?
Avatar m tn hypertension can cause headaches particularly on forehead, near eye regions. if your BP is over 140/90 it must be controlled strictly using medications & other methods.
Avatar f tn Today is my second day of Rosuvastatin 5mg and last night I had 7 hours of bad palpitations. I’m so worry.
Avatar f tn I am also on Lisinopril (20mg 1x), Rosuvastatin (10mg 1x), and Citalopram (20mg, 1x). In addition to prescription meds, I also take one vitamin D3 (2000 IU) daily, as well as two 650mg Acetaminophen tablets. I tend to pay a lot of attention to my liver, since I had a good friend pass away of liver cancer at an early age. I know that chalky stools can be a symptom of bile duct blockage.
Avatar f tn 3) vitamins and 4)rosuvastatin. Without telling me what it was. He even ordered a biopsy and it showed fibrosis. I took the medicine for a year and a half because I went abroad and I didn't want to damage my kidneys for something I wasn't sure. Then I did some research I go to two other doctors and they told me that I had morphea, no cure, don't know the reason why, etc. But I really want other opinions, what should I do?
1201433 tn?1328997637 I would continue with the Crestor (rosuvastatin) if you have been tolerating it well as shown on repeated labs. Rosuvastatin (all statins, actually) have shown anti-HCV properties to varying degrees. If anything it will help you in the fight against the virus. All of the other items you listed are very benign and there are no ill effects known from taking them as it relates to your HCV infection.
Avatar f tn Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). Statins work by controlling the production of cholesterol in your liver while Zetia works by preventing cholesterol to be absorbed in your digestive system. Of the two, Crestor is the stronger of the two. In addition, recent trials have shown that adding Zetia does not improve the performance of Vytorin over Simvastatin alone.
Avatar f tn I’m fortunate that I only took 1/2 or 2.5 mg of Rosuvastatin. Within 15 minutes I felt like my heart was cramping in front and back. I had to wake up my husband, to tell him I have to take my B/P and he gave me his Oximeter which also showed my heart was skipping many beats, B/P was lower than it’s ever been. My Dr. said to switch to the other Statin. I finally discovered that Rosuvastatin contains Flouride. I have had bad reactions to other fluoroquinalones.
Avatar n tn She added two new drugs, viz Dapagliflozin 10 mg, and Rosuvastatin 10 mg.
Avatar m tn Based on a few opinions including the advice I got here I got started on TEVA-ROSUVASTATIN 20MG TABLET. 1 per day was the prescribed amount. I was tempted to cut the tablets in half but instead went with the doctor's recommendation. Hopefully the side effects won't be too bad.
