Avatar m tn Rosiglitazone, an old diabetes drug is active on hbsag lowering and synergistic with nucs and interferon.these are the drugs to study not stupid nucs that acts on hbvdna only making mutations. on the contrary studies on these cheap and generic durgs are not funded by drug makers, on the contrary we see stupid doctors without trials or studies saying now that these drugs can make liver damage while it is the opposite.
Avatar n tn I am writing on the connection of cancer in general (but breast cancer is specific) on cardiovascular risk associated with breast cancer. I am aware that treatment, whether it be chemo or radiation, can cause issues but I have been unable to find anything to support that the cancer itself causes problems. My prof assures me that it does. If anyone could help me out, or point me in the right direction on this topic I would be very grateful.
Avatar m tn There are published studies of vitamin D levels and the risk of cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D levels greater than 30–40 ng/mL (75–100 nmol/L) may lower atherosclerosis risk. If this disorder reaches advanced stages, a physician should be consulted. How vitamin D works Vitamin D may reduce atherosclerosis in several ways: Reduces inflammation: Vitamin D shifts cytokine (protein) production away from inflammation. Internal swelling causes plaque lesions to develop.
Avatar f tn They believe that their results are of such importance that “a randomized placebo-controlled interventional trial is crucial to determine what effect vitamin D may have on surrogate markers of CVD [cardiovascular disease], as well as on immune function and reconstitution, and to determine what vitamin D level is optimal in HIV-positive patients.” Earlier research has already shown that vitamin D deficiency is common in patients with HIV.
Avatar m tn Usually, blood pressure is assessed with multible heart cycles at least for a minute, and that would then include the heart rate. The etiolgy of a serious valve disorder would be to reduce the cardiac output (CO is stroke volume for each heartbeat times heart rate). Under other physiological conditions, there would be an increase in heart rate and increased blood pressure. "Increased HR leads to increased cardiac output, among other things, which increases blood pressure".
Avatar m tn In this laboratory study, the investigators assessed the effects and toxicity of bezafibrate (a PPAR-alpha agonist) and rosiglitazone (a PPAR-gamma agonist) added (24 hours later) to cultures of HepG2 cells infected with a genotype HBV genome with no mutations in the core promotor or precore regions. The 50% cytotoxicity concentration of rosiglitazone was almost 150 mcM and that of bezafibrate was almost 250 mcM; lamivudine demonstrated no cytotoxicity at concentrations less than 1 mcM.
Avatar m tn I don't what know the doctor here will say but several studies have shown/suggested that persons with Gilbert's disease/syndrome are at lower risk for CAD and other cardiovascular events.
Avatar n tn If I understand, your father recently had a stroke and the underlying cause is cardiovascular disease and resulted in a stroke. That occurs when a blood clot is dislodge in the vessel and with blood flow goes to the brain and blocks a segment of the brain to blood supply. The result can minor with very little impairment or serious causing a loss of mobility and speech.
Avatar n tn If in the 3mg/l-- 10mg/l range or higher, she is at greater risk for the stent to thrombose or the plague to rupture---putting her at risk for acute cardiovascular events? If high, get more aggressive in getting her LDL and CRP down and give her meds to help pain in knee.[ She is walking and going to cardiac rehab, so she is not immbolized.] Thanks for your help, R.N.
Avatar m tn MRI is also very good at early detection unfortunately all hbsag positive are at risk of hcc and even after hbsag seroconversion there is still risk for a couple of years after seroconversion although lowest risk.there is only another illness which has much higer rates for hcc than hbv which is diabetes.
4764932 tn?1359844198 Investigators looked at the relationship between saturated fat intake and coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Their controversial conclusion: “There is insufficient evidence from prospective epidemiologic studies to conclude that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD, stroke, or CVD.
Avatar f tn In fact the interventions like ablation and anti arrhythmic meds other than beta blockers actually pose a greater risk. The tough decisions is when the risk of medications and/or procedure is out weighed by the impact on your quality of life. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn This is due to the fact that a high pulse pressure (the difference between systolic and diastolic) is a marker for arterial stiffness and risk for heart disease and stroke. A high diastolic signifies a lower pulse pressure and lower risk. This information caught my attention as more than occasionally I have a high pulse rate. Evidence suggests that pulse pressure may be a strong predictor of heart problems, especially in older adults.
