I'm glad you found something that worked. RLS was the worst for me too. Ropinirole is sold in the US as Requip. It was originally prescribed for Parkinson' Disease and then it was discovered that it works for RLS. Keep going forward. It will be over soon.
Hi, I take Ropinirole (Requip), and this mefication over the years has worked really well. But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
I am going through the same bout myself with a recent increase of rls during night and day. I went through iron tests which may be something that can cause rls. My tests came back normal so the doc is increasing my ropinerol (also a Parkinson's med) I was at .5mg and will be going up to .75 mg. I only take it 1-2 hours before bedtime. For pain during the day vicodin is my lifesaver.
Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.

I have been taking Ambien for 5 years now and take anywhere from 20-30mg, plus Lamotrigine for Depression, Ropinirole for RLS, and a few others. The Ambien does not work well for me anymore and this past month my insomnia has escalated. In addition to the RLS I have body jolts, hallucinations while I'm falling asleep, and these electrical zapping sensations throughout my body.
My uncle just turned 60 years old and a doctor recently diagnosed him with RLS. But, the symptoms just don't seem to fit the typical pattern.
For the past 9 - 12 months, he has had symptoms of "burning feet" and shaking of the lower extremties. The symptoms are worse during the day, but seem to get better when he lays in bed (symptoms alleviate during the night).
He has seen several doctors who have ruled out: athlete's foot, diabetes, Parkinson's Disease ...
My Pdoc prescribed a medication for me. Ropinirole. I've also read there is an over the counter medicine, Restless leg at Walmart. Hot baths with Epsom salts. Mine were so bad last time, I bought white medical tape & am going to try taping my legs up tight. This time I'm going off pain pills gradually,so maybe the restless legs won't be as bad. So they have in ropinirole (I forgot how to spell it) but 1mg doesn't seem to be working. :( what other meds can I request?
Early on I was diagnosed with primary paradoxical syndrome, but was negative at a later date...I take Midodrine, (rencently started) and gabapentin, baclofen, ropinirole which I have been on these 3 for years
What is causing this is extreme sleepiness?? I cannot function...any meds or test?? I'm open to suggestions to help me function...
So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.
The rls was the worse last night, leg still hurtn, not sure why it came out the blue, my energy was so low yesterday, I feel like ugh this morning, on top of that I had a pill dream. I hope it gets better its day 12 today. I do thank u guys for all u guys prayer.
Okay ladies I have not been able to sleep lately and its getting very frustrating...do any of you have RLS and know of anything I can do to help???
