620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar m tn I have been taken Ropinirole for sometime now and it helps a little. As for sleep,I get very little of.
7126533 tn?1388405470 My RLS started over 20 years ago and has been really bad for about 15 years. Ropinirole, once I was put on it in 2007, was a Godsend and just about covers it as long as I don't miss a dose (currently 4 x daily starting at 10am) My consultant has now suggested trying Slow Mag (Slow release magnesium) in hopes that I can reduce the number of Ropinirole I have to take to be able to function normally.
Avatar n tn s approval, you will see a marked improvement as the dosage goes down, in my experience. Sorry to be so ambiguous, but these medications effect people in different ways, but it does get much better:)....keep us posted!
Avatar f tn Hi, Not sure about everyone else but I know that for me the restless legs is one of the worst symptoms. I told my doctor that I was struggling and he prescribed me Ropinirole tablets, one to take before bedtime. I took one last night and, fingers crossed, it seemed to work. Most of you are probably aware of this but for those who aren't, it might be worth a try.
Dog Hi, I take Ropinirole (Requip), and this mefication over the years has worked really well. But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar f tn Seeking the small town, farm, slow pace and American dream of life. Digging in deep with enjoying the mild winter and active from dawn to dusk. Then this rls stopped me in my tracks and I joined, what I like to call "Zombie Walkers". Three weeks and 40ish hours total sleep and their urgent care dr gave me requip and ambian. A month later I found a family dr and she added gabapentin. The pain is unbelievable!
Avatar f tn I was dx with RLS after feeling like my legs had a mind of their own....ropinirole 2x a day.
Avatar f tn So they have in ropinirole (I forgot how to spell it) but 1mg doesn't seem to be working. :( what other meds can I request?
Avatar f tn I've been dealing with a form of dysautonomia since 2006, with symptoms that are ringing in the ears, Raynaud's, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea, a sensation of choking at times, but most troubling a sensation of being drunk/ dizzy...I have had high blood pressure in the past which resolved on its own. Over the past couple years I developed heart palpitations, fluttering, flip flopping etc...the past 8 months or so..
Avatar f tn I have suffered from a form of restless leg for over 20 years, when my brain wants to relax especially at bed time, my leg muscles in top & bottom start to go into spasm, causing my legs to kick out. Its so sever that if prevents me from falling asleep. I am on tablets called Ropinerol they work to a point but the older I get the worse the spasms get.
Avatar f tn So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.
Avatar n tn Get a sleep consult, a sleep study (in lab, unfortunately) and a [while you are waiting, talk to your PCP] prescription for Ropinirole. Starting dosage is around 0.5mg but it depends on your physiology. They may try Mirapex, Gabapentin, or other drugs. You should also avoid caffeine as much as you can, as this will aggravate the hell out of this.
Avatar f tn I am seeking a new psychiatrist, and have an appt. to get a sleep study done in 1 month. But, in the mean time I have to figure out what is causing this because I am getting really sick from lack of sleep. I want to eventually get off the Ambien, but I don't know if this is the right time since I'm already not sleeping well. Has anyone experienced these symptoms or does anyone else have an addiction to Ambien? I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar n tn RLS causes a sensation in the legs or arms that can most closely be compared to a burning, itching, or tickling sensation in the muscles.
Avatar f tn I found this forum by mistake whilst having an annoying reaction to my pain medication for my lower back. I'm 26 and have had lower back issues since I was 7. It's only in the past 6-8 years that I've been properly medicated and only found out in the last two years that I have a protruding disc. I have had a lot of pain medication but tramadol works for me MOST of the time.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 46 years old. In the past 1 plus years she has had radical restless legs. A few months ago she started having the jerking in her arms also. She has been taking carbidopa/levadopa and had probably increased the amount she takes as she seems to have the leg and arm continuously. At the onset, she is suffering a lot of pain and discomfort. She is wondering if the arm problem has started because of the carbidopa. She has had to sleep on the floor because of her discomfort.
Avatar m tn there r also supps etc that can help..read thru the health pages..there is also an article in my journal about rls..
Avatar m tn -) A couple of things to note, the medications you listed, Lorazepam negatively interacts with pain meds, its also commonly rx for anxiety disorders because of its sedative properties but it can produce sx of anxiety in otherwise healthy individuals. The other you mention, Ropinirole is rx for restless leg but it is a Parkinson medication and one of the common sx is tremors.
1004161 tn?1252481849 I'm a 56 year old female and I've had RLS off and on for years. I have even had it while sitting in chairs, and a few times in the car on a long trip. That's the worst because you can't stretch your legs in the car. I have to pull over to walk around. The only time I've never had it is while walking. There,s nothing I can recall that has precipitated it. I have poor circulation in my legs, many varicose veins and a family history of circulation problems in the legs.
1838963 tn?1318496884 t seem to be triggered by anything in particular that I can find, I can wake up with a headache in the morning, I can get them while reading, while driving and sometimes they wake me up in the middle of the night. But I do get them every day. I went to an Optometrist and he said that my sight wasn't causing my headaches. On a pain scale of 1-10 headaches are usually a 7 and an 11 on bad days. Sometimes the pain is so bad that I throw up. My headaches aren't always localized to one area.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar m tn Medications used are iron supplements, carbidopa- levodopa, opioids, carbamazepine, clonazepam, baclofen, temazepam, bromocriptine etc. other drugs are ropinirole, pramipexole or mirapex you are already taking, gabapentin etc also can be tried under .your neurologist prescription.
