Ropinirole for ms

Common Questions and Answers about Ropinirole for ms

requip

Avatar m tn I am ignorant about the issue of blood tests for MS. I was told that I was negative for MS markers. My IgE was at the high end of normal range, all the markers for anemia are there (as usual), lime titer positive, epstein-barr positive, salmonella positive, ESR high end of normal, and everything else is "WNL." What is an LP? In addition to tremors, I am sleepy all the time. Not just a little sleepy, I fall asleep while doing things.
Avatar m tn I have been taken Ropinirole for sometime now and it helps a little. As for sleep,I get very little of.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed by my Dr, but the meds he gave me are not helping. He says there is no cure, but prescribed me a medicine for MS. It feels like a horse is chewing on my foot. They dont tingle, they THROB. The only relief I have found is a hot heating pad, tiger balm and alot of prayer. I wake up exhausted from fighting the pain.
7126533 tn?1388405470 My RLS started over 20 years ago and has been really bad for about 15 years. Ropinirole, once I was put on it in 2007, was a Godsend and just about covers it as long as I don't miss a dose (currently 4 x daily starting at 10am) My consultant has now suggested trying Slow Mag (Slow release magnesium) in hopes that I can reduce the number of Ropinirole I have to take to be able to function normally.
Avatar n tn Have been taking Lexapro 20 mg for about a year and very much improved. Unable to acieve orgasm even with erection. How long does thia side effect last after weaning off Lexapro with doctor's approval???
Avatar f tn I'm glad you found something that worked. RLS was the worst for me too. Ropinirole is sold in the US as Requip. It was originally prescribed for Parkinson' Disease and then it was discovered that it works for RLS. Keep going forward. It will be over soon.
Dog But as you know what might work great for one patient might not work great for another. But maybe worth a try.
Avatar f tn Have had rls once or twice a month for ten years. Then bam, it's full blown, unreal, can't do this, rls. I don't need to tell you all how it feels... But discribeing it to a small town doctor feels like I'm talking to a book. Short story, I moved to Idaho from California. Seeking the small town, farm, slow pace and American dream of life. Digging in deep with enjoying the mild winter and active from dawn to dusk.
Avatar f tn I looked online and found out that Tramadol ( a generic for Ultram 50) will help it and it has no side effects. I told my doctor and he prescribed it for me and it works wonders! I take it about 2-3 hours before I go to bed. I have restless leg real bad. I used to control it with a glass ofmilk and a banana every night but it progressed beyond that. Try it!
Avatar m tn been on 100mgs over a year now.. 50 mgs 2x a day..i use it for my restless leg syndrome..i was prescribed a new one ( ropinirole) I need to stop this tram. can I cold turkey it or a taper? I wouldn't see how I could taper it, its only 50 mgs tabs.. have you experienced this? thanks!!
Avatar f tn I have suffered from a form of restless leg for over 20 years, when my brain wants to relax especially at bed time, my leg muscles in top & bottom start to go into spasm, causing my legs to kick out. Its so sever that if prevents me from falling asleep. I am on tablets called Ropinerol they work to a point but the older I get the worse the spasms get.
Avatar f tn Her hands were slightly trembling, which never happened before, and he concluded that she could have rapid-onset Parkinism, but there is really no test for that. He prescribed a low dose of Ropinirole (0.25 mg). He thought that it was caused by medication she was taking or from a virus. I doubt that it is Parkinson’s. I would like to have her test for Guillian-Barre Syndrome just to rule that out. I felt that she had every symptom of that disease.
Avatar f tn So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night. I had some psychosis and was up all night long, but laying and I had the shakes at first but I'm actually proud I made it through the night without popping that pill. Took my medicine this morning and slept for about 5 hours and no psychosis, hallucinations or anything.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I take 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, then 1 full .50 tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, finally then 2 tablets 1 mg after that. I am concerened that since I have been taking 1 mg of Mirapex, that the dose of Requip won't be enough.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Ambien for 5 years now and take anywhere from 20-30mg, plus Lamotrigine for Depression, Ropinirole for RLS, and a few others. The Ambien does not work well for me anymore and this past month my insomnia has escalated. In addition to the RLS I have body jolts, hallucinations while I'm falling asleep, and these electrical zapping sensations throughout my body.
Avatar n tn Get a sleep consult, a sleep study (in lab, unfortunately) and a [while you are waiting, talk to your PCP] prescription for Ropinirole. Starting dosage is around 0.5mg but it depends on your physiology. They may try Mirapex, Gabapentin, or other drugs. You should also avoid caffeine as much as you can, as this will aggravate the hell out of this.
Avatar f tn Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it. RLS is hell as you dread going to bed, you dread movies, you dread airplanes as you know that your legs will instantly start to ache and you will have the compulsion to constantly move them to relieve the discomfort.
Avatar n tn Dopamine agonists such as ropinirole, pramipexole, carbidopa/levodopa or pergolide are used and you have to monitor these drugs. There are some issues with the use of dopamine agonists. There are conditions where the drug itself causes symptoms to increase in severity and/or occur earlier in the day. Monitoring the adverse effects of the drug and titrating a proper dosage is important for your daughter. Take care!

Avatar f tn I know testing for MS is an exclusionary game. But with regard to the MRI, what is the best and most accurate way to go? Open? Closed? With contrast? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I took 2/3x day for the first week then went to two per day and I adjust for weather and activities that irritate it. As for telling you what is wrong I have no clue but I hope some of this is helpful. Good luck to you.
