Avatar m tn I went to a neurologist and they prescribed me Nortriptyline, Methylprednisolone, and Rizatriptan. Since I have taken these medications I have gained a little relief however, it all just came back after a week. When I was on rizatriptan it constricted the vessels on the temporal regions of my head and I did not feel them throbbing too much, however, there were still headaches.
Avatar m tn Hi, Maxalt is brand name for Rizatriptan. It belongs to the category of medication known as Triptans. Triptans are very effective in treatment of acute migraine attacks because they are known to reduce the swelling of blood vessels. Dilatation of blood vessels in the brain is known to cause migraines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizatriptan It is nice to know that you are finding this site useful. God bless!
Avatar f tn By way of background I have chronic daily headaches as well as migraines with aura, and have had those since I was 14 (I’m 32 now). I take rizatriptan for the migraines and Tylenol and ibuprofen for the daily headache.
Avatar m tn Methadone has a slow metabolism and very high fat solubility, making it longer lasting than morphine-based drugs. Methadone has a typical elimination half-life of 15 to 60 hours with an average of i would say about 22. However, metabolism rates vary greatly between individuals, up to a factor of 100 ranging from as few as 4 hours to as many as 130 hours, or even 190 hours. So it's hard to say.
Avatar m tn The water solubility of bilirubin allows the bilirubin to be excreted into bile. (Bile then is used to digest fats.) Total bilirubin, if I remember correctly, is the conjugated hemoglobin, since there is also another portion that is not conjugated. What the elevated total bilirubin means at this point is 'something' is going on, but you may need more information before your doc can determine the cause.
Avatar f tn I have a history of horrible migraines since my early teens and they just recently began. It's been exactly a week since I've had this particular migraine and since tylenol is the only safe thing I can take, I am in agony!! I'm used to taking excedrin and rizatriptan but neither of those are safe for the baby. I've tried sleeping, cold rags on my neck and forehead, head rubs, everything! And I just can't get rid of if! I'm to the point where I want to go to the e.
Avatar n tn The last 2 weeks or so my migraines have gotten more frequent and less apt to respond to Rizatriptan. I am wondering if I am just having a bad week or if the accutane is to blame.
Avatar f tn I had cataract removal surgery over a year ago with premium bifocal implants via laser. I've had occasional migraines since then but has come to daily occurrences since June 2022 (most of pain is behind left eye). I've seen my ophthalmologist twice since surgery and she says I have 20/20 vision with nothing wrong. I'm currently seeing a neurologist and he has prescribed Nortriptyline for preventative (which hasn't helped) and Rizatriptan to get rid of migraine.
Avatar f tn html I would suggest you to discuss this with your prescribing doctor if it is getting difficult to cope with this side effect. There are other triptans available which you can try like Rizatriptan. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Apart from Excedrine Migraine, the other abortive drugs are the triptans (Sumatriptan, Rizatriptan) and ergot alkaloids. And some of the preventive drugs are anticonvulsants and antidepressants.
Avatar f tn m taking (Rizatriptan, Diclofenac, and Fulticasone) since I have only started to take the medication last year. I was on ibuprofen but stop taking them since the doctor thought the bruising was caused by it. The doctors are treating the conditions that I mentioned separately. I'm not sure if they should be treating the symptoms together or separate. I'm starting to get scared, I'm just want to know what is happening to me.
Avatar m tn The main requirements for them are (1) high IFN-inducing activity, (2) absence of side effects, (3) wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, (4) broad therapeutic security and, (5) good solubility in water and biologic liquids. IFN inducers stimulate IFN production in different cells and organs, and that determines the strategy for their application. Amixin (OOO "Lancepharm," Moscow, Russia) induces IFN-?/? production mostly in T cells. Cycloferon (NTFF "Polysan," St.
Avatar n tn However, factors that can affect absorption include oral pH, salivary enzymes, lipid solubility, and molecular weight (molecules may be too large to pass through the mucous membranes). A sublingual product, specifically created to ensure effective absorption, is recommended.
Avatar m tn Specifically Imitrex works. Rizatriptan not so much.
Avatar f tn It has been four days now but I have this weird pressure in my temple that doesn't go away. It almost feels as though it radiates to the bone behind my ear. I have migraines and have taken plenty of ibuprofen and my rizatriptan and those aren't making it go away. It doesn't ache really it just feels heavy. I also grind my teeth at night but I am not sure why I'd only have it on one side but I have tried my Flexeril as well and that hasn't helped.
Avatar m tn All the mold gets churned up and I suffer for a few days until the humidity drops. The doctors were baffled , but prescribed Maxalt , which is a rizatriptan and it works decently to abort the pain before it gets serious. My front yard is waterfront and my home has a mold issue , yet my attacks start only after it rains. I am convinced beyond doubt that this is the culprit. You might consider a dehumidifier in your home.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 35 year old woman and I've been suffering from vertigo and dizziness for about 8 months now with tinnitus and hearing loss in my left ear. (I've had these symptoms on and off for about 10 years). Every doctor I've seen has mentioned Menieres but now my ENT consultant has said it's low down on the list and has now referred me to a neurologist and for an MRI. I'm terrified that there is something seriously wrong with me.
655875 tn?1295695107 The drug of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), naratriptan (Amerge), zolmitriptan (Zomig), almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova) and eletriptan (Relpax). Hormone therapy may help some women whose migraines seem to be linked to their menstrual cycle. Other alternatives include stress management strategies, such as exercise, relaxation, and biofeedback may also reduce the occurrence and severity of migraine attacks.
Avatar f tn He prescribes rizatriptan along with naproxen and a steroid. In this whole combination of pills I have to say that a combination of the steroid and rizatriptan was the only thing that made it more or less bearable to the point where I was even able to go for a run and workout. He told me to only take no more than 4 doses of the steroid and once I was done my pain was back to its usual self.
Avatar n tn (By the way, although losartan is currently being researched in Johns Hopkins clinical trials, other ARBs such as telmisartan are probably most effective given their increased lipid solubility and thus increased tissue penetration.) I strongly encourage you to visit www.marfanlife.net and find the very lengthy thread titled "Losartan" or something to that effect. Probably some of the most important reading of your life.
Avatar f tn Other combinations of pain killers with anti sickness medicines like domperidone and metoclopramide. The prescription medicines like triptans, rizatriptan and zolmitriptan come in various forms like nasal sprays, injections and tablets that dissolve on the tongue and can be used for you since nausea and vomiting is an issue. Prophylactic medicines like propranolol, pizotifen and valproate can be tried.
Avatar m tn the brain is affected quickly as alcohol will cross what is called the blood-brain barrier due to its solubility. this can compromise involuntary actions such as heartbeat, breathing and gag reflex. organs such as the liver and pancreas can suffer tissue destruction resulting in everything from lowered function and scarring to complete organ failure. for diagnosing existing damage, your doctor can order bloodwork including a liver panel to check things like enzyme levels.
Avatar f tn I'm writing this in behalf of my mother. About a year ago she was diagnosed with vertigo, after suffering severe dizziness and headache. They put her on meds, I'm not sure which ones. She also had a stomach pain problem whenever she got it. Just yesterday, she was taken to the hospital again, had blood tests and a ct scan done on her, their answers were really vague, they say it's just vertigo and they don't see anything else wrong.
