Common Questions and Answers about Rivastigmine transdermal patches

Avatar f tn It does take a little while to get accustomed to the patches. I was not entirely comfortable with them for the first month or so, but never experienced withdrawal. Every person's response to medication is individual. Perhaps this is the not medication for you?
Avatar n tn Make sure the testosterone test is done early in the morning, before breakfast. You need an evaluation by an endochronologist. The transdermal patches are quite expensive, not always covered by insurance, and once you start them your natural ability to produce the hormone decreases and may completely atrophy. Thus you will be on the patches indefinitely.
1545464 tn?1376704158 I get my meds tomorrow. i use estrogen patches this time. i never used transdermal patches in the past so i am excited thank god it is not another shot :) i wish all the IVF shots turn into transdermal in the future.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if Fentynal patches contain even the slightest amount of morphine in them. A friend of mine is dealing with a terminal illness along with terrible pain. They gave him Fentynal patches(heavey guns) and he claims that someone said that they contain just a small amout of Morphine. He has had some eally bad experiences with Morphine and he is scared to use the patch. I told him I would try to ask my new friends on MedHelp first. Does anyone out there have a clue if this is true?
Avatar f tn She has been on the Fentanyl Patch (100 mcg) for about 3 years and uses a tegaderm patch over it to hold it in place. It was on her stomach. She always places the patches on her stomach or upper arm in a fatty area. This is the 4th ER visit in the past 12 months due to withdrawals. Why is her body not absorbing the medication?
Avatar f tn As Sandee mentioned there are also Fentanyl Transdermal Systems that are a clear cover for your patches that ou can buy through your Pharmacy and through the Manufacturer of the patches BUT they are quite expensive! Jaybay has a lot of information on those as she said.
Avatar m tn If you have difficulty swallowing pills, talk to your doctor about prescribing liquid medications for you. Some medications already come in a liquid form, and others can be "compounded" into a liquid by a special pharmacist called a "compounding pharmacist." I take a medication in the same family as nortriptyline, and mine is compounded into liquid so I can take it through my feeding tube.
648944 tn?1241469694 Hi again, everybody. Many thanks for your thoughts, especially about the patches, which might solve one of my problems with the existing regimen--that they don't seem to last for the the full 12 hours between doses. I will definitely bring that up with my PM Dr. when I see him next week. Are there some patches that are more effective than others? I am also interested in the results of the nerve ablation (sp?), and wish you the best...
Avatar m tn Fentanyl (Transdermal, Transbuccal, Transmucosal, Sublingual) Norfentanyl 4-N-(N-propionylanilino) piperidine 4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine 1-(2-phenethyl)-4-N-(Nhydroxypropionylanilino) piperidine (Source: Remitigate.com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance.
Avatar f tn Yes, you will still experience withdrawals until the Fentanyl has a chance to absorb into your system....Most likely they gave you transdermal patches and they absorb through the skin.... This all depends what you want to do.....If you TRULY want to get off of narcotic pain relievers then throw them away! The longer you go on with this stuff the harder it will be to detox....I hope that you can come clean with your doctors and get the help you need to get sober....Good luck and God bless!
398849 tn?1210135972 Methimazole Transdermal Gel Treats hyperthyroidism (overproduction of the thyroid hormone) in cats. Reduces the amount of thyroid hormone produced by the pet's body. Topical gel is absorbed through the skin. A transdermal gel is a medication mixed with a special compound that promotes the absorption of the medication through the skin. This type of medication must be applied to clean skin that has little hair, which the pet cannot lick. It is usually applied to the inside tip of the ear.

Avatar m tn They will provide you with a TENS device for pain, and transdermal lidocaine patches. The lidocaine patches are not in the VA system so there will be a small review before they are approved. Meanwhile sleep with a pillow between your legs and avoid lifting and riding in vehicles that cause up-and-down bumping.
Avatar n tn If that will not work, another option that you could explore is the use of transdermal pain patches or lidocaine patches (which are not sedating as other opiates). Patches tend to give greater relief and less sedation in many cases do to the evenness of the delivery. Pills tend to give more of a roller coaster effect to blood levels of the pain killer causing problems with break-though pain (plus they are harder on the stomach).
Avatar f tn I've never had any form of rash on my face, but a tiny patch started on one of my eyelids back in Oct and it's sort of "spreading". So now I have red dry flaky patches on both lids, sides of face (hear the hairline) and both corners of mouth. After much googling, it seems to be Psoriasis. Been trying to find out if there's a link between Hashi's & Psoriasis, not much in depth info to be found. Anyone in here encounter the same problem?
963889 tn?1359677334 I have looked it up though and the info is contradictory ie some sites say safe for CKD and others say avoid at all costs!!!! same with the durogesic (transdermal morphine patches) soem say safe to use and others say not so. Now at a loss, what is and isnt safe to use!!!
Avatar n tn DURAGESIC® patches are intended for transdermal use (on intact skin) only. Using damaged or cut DURAGESIC® patches can lead to the rapid release of the contents of the DURAGESIC® patch and absorption of a potentially fatal dose of fentanyl. I once walked in a room as a nurse, found a patient who had taken off his patch and chewed it...he coded and died...there is alot of medication concentrated in the patch to be released over a 24 hour period...not all at once...
Avatar m tn I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
Avatar m tn You may be prescribed transdermal testosterone. It comes in 2 mg/day and 4 mg/day patches. It is very expensive. And a very controlled drug. You place the patch on your forearm or leg every evening. Be careful not to use more than one patch a day. Unfortunately, it will not assist in obtaining an erection, however it will definitely increase libido and desire for opposite sex companionship.
486507 tn?1237242081 I had good luck with back pain using lidoderm transdermal patches - they release a small amount of lidocaine (stuff dentist numbs you with) and have worked well for me...and not narcotic....
