She returned from the doctors today with a prescription for concurrent risperdal for OCD. I know her very well. We used to work together and now that we've left work we spend all day together. In the evenings we go to each others houses for supper, our kids all play together and we frequently spend the night at each other's house. We are in constant text contact. My worry is that she does not show any symptoms of what i understand to be OCD.

Kids with ADHD are 4 times more likely to wet themselves then other kids. It may be that the ADHD is more the "wetting problem" than the Risperdal. And I don't see wetting listed as a side effect of Risperdal (doesn't mean it couldn't happen though). Did he have wetting problems before starting the med? Do the problems happen at just at school or at home or both? Sometimes, things that go on at school can also be the problem and not the med.

He still gets shor tempered on the risperdal and tenex and prozac. We have upped all the amounts except the risperdal is still at 2 mg a day. He was much better in the beginning. He takes 3 mg of tenex, 2 mg of risperdal and 10 mg of prozac. He still is impulsive and gets into arguments. It seems to be an ongoing problem to adjust his meds. We see the psychaitrist monthly. He has been on other meds and they either made him worse or stopped working.

But you are saying you are getting MORE hyperactive. When do yo next see your psychiatrist? I would tell them this to see if this is a dosing issue or a wrong fit regimen. It's hard to get things 'perfect' but we are looking for improvement. Not a backslide.

The Neurologist just started her on Risperdal Tabs 0.5mg but after reading the possible side affects and all the other information, I am a bit worried. and ya, this is very difficult for you. I feel for you. You should be getting more information on dealing with autistic kids. There are very specific ways to deal with a child having a melt down and ways to prevent that.

I just started Invegra 3mg daily which is the new drug in lieu of Risperdal so I will be curious as to how it works. Supposedly, it is just like Risperdal but much more tolerated with less side effects. Maybe something to ask your doc about although I cant comment on personal usage as of yet since it is so new for me.

After taking risperdal over 248mg in total over 7 weeks my penis shrinked rapidly at first I did not know what it was but slowly began to realize its from prolactin in the drug Will this recover I took some ability which decreases prolactin it made my penis feel better but its still a lot less in length then before Is this permanent any advice from anyone?

Hi, I had been on Risperdal for about 15 months and I recently stopped taking Risperdal. First of all, my periods which had stopped shortly after starting Risperdal returned and my breasts which were producing milk dried up but now I suffer from insomnia. I sometimes get only 1 1/2 hours of sleep a night. Will this go away on its own?

The Risperdal can have many negative effects on children. These type of anti-psychotic drugs have never been tested on children so the long term side effects of children using this drug are relatively unknown. My brother was put on this drug when he was younger and has suffered from extreme weight gain and facial tics. The tics never go away - even with stopping the drug. Risperdal is not usually used for PTSD or ADHD as it is an anti-psychotic.

They have tried Celexa, Risperdal, Quafanicine (unsure of spelling) and they work for a very short time and his behavior gets worse then it was before. Okay, let me ask this a different way? I want to get off the saphris because of the side effects but am afraid of being suicidal again. I'd heard Risperdal is used as a "booster" med for people being on anti-depressants. I take 40mg citalopram (generic version of celexa) and 225 mg Venlafaxine (for effexor) each day, then went to 5mg saphris in am and bedtime. I wondered about using Risperdal hoping not to have the same side effects.

We have used Risperdal with our 12 year old son in the past, 2nd and 3rd grade, but due to weight gain he had to be taken off it. We had major problems with sleep so when he went off the meds he went back to not sleeping. Then we found Melatonin, it is a god sent. How in the world would risperdal help someone that has anxiety alrdy and then stopped using opiates and got double anxiety help.

The neurologist put him on risperdal. I just read horrible side effects, like breasts on boys. Is there a more " beginner" drug? Since we see a neurologist instead of child psychologist, I am fearful he doesn't know as much about behavioral medications. Sorry so long.

I was taking risperdal for 6 month (4MG) and stopped "cold turkey" as the doctor suggested. now for 2 month i am having insomnia. can not sleep more then 3 hours per night. What can i do and how long should it take to get my normal sleep? how long the insomnia last?

We are very new to this, but my question is my loved one has been on Depakote and Risperdal for 8 days now and the mood stabilizer seems to be working great, completely stable in moods but still in the hospital. My concern is that the delusions are still there and even getting worse. Could it be the confinement or is there another medication to address this. What is the Risperdal supposed to address.
