Common Questions and Answers about Risperdal consta injection sites

risperdal

Avatar n tn How does one switch from Risperdal Consta (50mg Q2wks) to Invega Sustenna??
Avatar n tn Without knowing the actual dosage given, it is impossible to give you an exacting time frame. If he was given the Risperdal Consta injection, the effects would persist beyond one month. This would seem highly unlikely. In my opinion, this toxidrome will resolve without incident in a week or less. If there are no signs of improvement soon, definitely head back for the ER and demand some answers. Keep an eye on temperature and pulse, as those are two good indicators for NMS.
Avatar n tn OK I JUST STARTED TO TAKE RISPERDAL CONSTA 37.
Avatar m tn I took Risperdal Consta and Lithium for 7 months while being in the hospital. When I got out of the hospital, boy was I sorry! My cognitive abilities were down about 70%. I also had sleeping problems and chronic fatigue. When I read a book, I had no memory retention of what I read. If you value your son's life, take him off all the drugs, drugs are poison, and take him to a homeopathic doctor.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else experiencing this. I think I really need some more injection sites to use besides the abdomen and the upper legs.
Avatar m tn Unless I am mistaken you have been off of the Risperdal for a month or so now. The effects of it should be gone by now. What do you mean by feeling normal? Some people say normal and they mean happy. If you are wondering how long it will take you to feel happy again- that is a complicated question but I can try to answer it by asking some questions. What do you mean by normal Clifford?
309783 tn?1271958229 I have a friend that takes risperdal also. But he is bipolar. He takes it in injection form twice a month.. Sorry, I wish I could help you more.
Avatar m tn So, in essence, you make it even more difficult to insert an injection. So, by alternating your sites, you lesson that possibility, because you give each area a longer recovery time. I can understand the difficulty in trying to give yourself the shots on the back of your arms, or on your backside hips. If my wife (who is afraid of needles and normally passes out at the sight of a needle) did not give me those shots, I couldn't do it myself.
Avatar f tn d appreciate experienced opinions. My Support Services weekly injection map/planner has only 4 sites for each arm, 8 for the hips, 10 for the thighs and 19 in the abdomen. That seems excessively burdensome for the arms and not using the abdomen enough. For some of us, sadly, there is SO much adipose territory in the abdomen I'm tempted to consider the upper and lower row of the abdomen two separate 8 site zones and go there twice in a rotation.
Avatar f tn wondering if anyone knows what the alternative injection sites are. I am on daily shots of copaxone, and I cannot reach the back hip area with the way my hands are - which is lousy.
Avatar f tn I’m still experiencing pain in both these injection sites. It’s significant pain and feels like a knot remains on both sites as well. Just wondering if there’s some “disorder” that may cause this. I know it’s not normal based on previous injections without residual pain. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was switched to Copaxone the daily injection. I have been on it for about two years. On some of my injection sites, especially on my thighs and stomach area I have started getting like indentations. Has anyone else had this problem?
Avatar f tn My Dr told me to stay away from injecting on or near those red injection sites. I dont know for sure why, but I have followed that advice. I hope somebody with answers to this will chime in. Ive never heard of using your arms.
Avatar n tn Some diabetics I have spoken with about injection sites mention that, after years, some areas develop either a slight raising of tissue (almost like a large lump) or in some cases, some tissue atrophy in areas where injections are given. In order to give each area a rest, most doctors do recommend rotating injection sites. However, if you are not comfortable doing this, just watch carefully for any changes, and if you see changes, alter your pattern. Rotating around the area is a good start.
Avatar n tn //www.crazymeds.us/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Meds/Risperdal By the way, don't suddenly stop the Risperdal. You must sloooowly come off of it. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Generally with typical antipsychotics a side effect pill is given alongside them or the dystonic reactions people experience if untreated can be dangerous. Happenned to me in a hospital once. Thankfully they have changed their procedure there now and have side effect pills available. With atypicals a side effect pill is not always needed but should be available. Once that starts and is not addressed as happenned to me I needed an injection of Benadryl.
Avatar f tn Does the skin or underlying tissue of your injection sites look or feel any different now than it did when you started? Have you been rotating site location regularly? Massaging the sites (starting 24 hours after use)? If it is a new problem that involves all sites you may need to ask your injection training nurse or your prescribing doc to take a look at what is going on. I'm not aware of any recent changes in the equipment. Please let us know what you find out.
Avatar f tn I have been on meds Depakote and Risperdale but as of 4 months ago weaned myself off my Depakote and now I want to try and get off the Risperdal Consta. I want to try to live life without the meds again. I feel them throwing me on medication has done more harm than good. I have gained weight and do not feel as energetic and happy as I did before meds. Is there even a chance of hope that I experienced a nervous break down and they have misdiagnosed me with this mental illness.
Avatar f tn I have clearly discoloured skin patches where my injection sites were. I thought they might go away eventually but approx 18 months post treatment, it's clearly not going to happen. They haven't faded whatsoever. Looks like they are here to stay. The left side is about 1-1/2 " in a ragged circular patch and the right side is blotchier and larger but same thing. Not going to look pretty if I ever get myself back into a bikini (hey, a girl can dream) but I'll live.
Avatar f tn My injection sites on my abdomen are about 1-1/2" in diameter and the skin has lost it's pigmentation there. It's noticeably lighter and appears it will stay that way - two roundish shaped and lighter skinned "sites" on my abdomen. Along with the surgery scar, my poor abdomen isn't looking so pretty these days. Are those injection sites going to stay that way? Not a big deal ... just asking.
1040373 tn?1273687488 I've been on Copaxone for almost 3 months now. I've always rotated injection sites like you're supposed to. I'm thinking of retiring my legs though. I can inject my other sites with no problem but my legs are no fun. I always end up with a long patch of discoloration (melanosis or something), it bleeds and the medicine always burns a LOT when I do my thighs. Will anything bad happen if I just rotate 5 sites? Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!
