I have neuropathic pain down my arms, and in my hands and feet. Recently my Doctor gave me a titration pack of Savella to try. Savella is a medication used for the pain associated with Fibromyalgia. I noticed a reduction in the pain, burning and stinging sensation in my feet and hands even at the initial dose after the first few days. I also, bizarrely enough, noticed an improvement in my ability to urinate and empty my bladder.

Does anyone out there know of a good doctor for FM? I am so tired of the trying this and trying that. I am currently on Savella with the 2 week titration pack. I haven't noticed any difference as of yet, it's only been 3 days.

I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.

I felt the affect of being goofy and my speech slurring, but still no sleep. I called again today, and she gave me a prescription for Requip (since there is a generic for it, and is less expensive than Mirapex). She started me on the starter pack. I take 1/2 of a .25 mg tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, then 1 full .50 tablet for 4 days @ bedtime, finally then 2 tablets 1 mg after that. I am concerened that since I have been taking 1 mg of Mirapex, that the dose of Requip won't be enough.

Hi there:) I just spent three weeks trying very hard to get my body acclimated to Savella because I didn't think that Lyrica was helping. I'd start a titration pack.....get to the 50 mg. oval tablets, and break them in half and sometimes into quarters. I'm convinced that the effect Savella has on norepinephrine was why I couldn't take it.I would get so incredibly anxious and nervous......I don't think that my body needs any boost to my norepinephrine.

My doctor switched me to lyrica/savella,and I am on day 11 of the titration pack. without any bad effects. My energy has increased, and I hope that continues,and my pain has been helped alot.

I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night. Now I'm finding that my right leg is SERIOUSLY worse than the other leg, and I can't even sit for more than 15 minutes without having to move around and stretch and the whole nine yards. This, after taking all my meds. I don't know what to do, isn't 4 mg. kind of a large amount of Requip?

I am on day 11 of the titration pack, with no adverse reactions, my energy has increased, and it definately has helped with my pain. I hope my my energy keeps increasing, since it is a real issue for me.

You can go to a doctor and tell him about your legs bothing you and night,He might give you a starter pack of requip. that was what helped me a great deal and it worked wonderful.

our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.

All of my bloodwork came back good, so he started treating me for Fibro with Savella. On day 4 of the titration pack (first day of taking a 25mg pill in the morning) I developed Serotonin Syndrome and was admitted to the ER - I was not taking any other meds so there wasn't any interaction to have caused it. This left me with the assumption that either my serotonin levels are naturally pretty high, or that my reuptake is already more than adequate.

I read your post to me about how you don't like block/replace therapy, and that you like MMI titration, what is that? HOw do you keep your patients from going hypo thyroid on only ATD's? and if they do go hypo, how do you help them if you don't use replacement? Also, does using ATD's burn out your thyroid? and does replacement burn out your thyroid? Do you consider 5mg of MMI to be a high dose of ATD?

Can anyone tell me what is a Oxygen Titration test is about I will be having this tes on 4/9/08. It kinda scare me a little bit. What will they be doing for me doing this Titration.

As for treating tardive, standard options include Bachofen, Aricept, Requip and Mirapex. More experimental options include Namenda, Tetrabenzene and Zofran. Vimpat has been helpful in me and will be written up in a case study but that's a clinical first literally. One natural remedy that if supervised by a neurologist can be markedly helpful is rhodiola. Botox shots for focal dystonia are helpful if it is limited to one area.

I was prescribed Savella and decided not to take it for those reasons. It says that those are the side effects (excitability, night sweats, flushing, hot flashes, tachycardia) and since I have POTS which causes tachycardia, I decided against it. But I have heard that the symptoms lesson over time. Did you start with a titration pack? If the side effects don't bother you too much and it's helping you, if I were you, I would try it for a little longer and see if it goes away.

INTERESTING, I DID NOT READ THIS INFO FROM THE FDA ABOUT THE DOSING. THOUGHT AS "T" SAYS THAT IT'S STANDARD TO WORK TOWARD THE 44's. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT IT THOUGH, AS WEIGHT DOES AFFECT MEDS, AND IF REBIF IS ONE OF THEM, YOU'D THINK IT WOULD BE MORE KNOWN. LEAVING ME TO THINK IT'S NOT AN ISSUE. This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney,liver,congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to neuro.

Two weeks ago, I switched from Lexapro to Savella. My doctor gave me a starter pack, which contained a 2-week titration pack, which gradually increases your dosage, allowing the body to acclimate to the new medicine. However, before starting Savella, he told me to do the following: Cut the dosage down to 1/2 of what I would normally take a day for the first week. On the second week, take Lexapro every other day. On the third week, I was to start the Savella dosage.

Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.

My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.

I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).

I started Rebif in January on the titration pack, everything was good, minimal side effects. Ive been up to 44s for a while now and I have just started getting some site reactions. Not every time, my belly and thighs seem to be more reactive. Until about 5 minutes ago I thought they were limited to red, tender spots and bruising but now I have found an area on my thigh that appears to have a large (3 inch?) knot deep under the skin. It doesnt hurt, Its not red, but it is pretty solid.

From what my psychiatrist told me when I was transfering from Tegretol (and other mood stabilizers that are anti-convulsants) to another medication that if the titration schedule is followed seizures are generally not a concern but you could speak to your psychiatrist more about this.
