Common Questions and Answers about Requip starting dose

requip

Avatar f tn No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med. No caffiene. There is also an ingredient in cough medicine that counteracts the med. Take it long enough to have absorbed in your small intestine before going to sleep.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
1154672 tn?1262222616 I would suggest worrying about it AFTER you've tried it and it doesn't work. And very possibly a dose increase if it doesn't seem to be working and is a safe option, will bring you the same relief as the Mirapex did. (But do NOT increase the dose without consulting your doc first!) Don't build bridges until you have to! I wish you the best.
Avatar m tn You should rue out all other causes for restless legs before starting treatment. If there is no other cause found, it is called as primary restless legs syndrome. Check your serum ferritin levels. You may need oral iron supplementation. Increasing ferritin levels helps reduce the symptoms of restless legs syndrome. There are quite a few medicines available such as Gabapentine, which can give you some relief.
Avatar n tn These fluctuations can be treated with alternating the dosing interval or dose or adding additional agents (such as requip, which is already added). I cannot tell you how to dose the medications, but I would suggest discussing these with your mother’s physician. She should keep a diary of when her symptoms occur in relationship to what medication was taken or will be taken.
372680 tn?1228161610 m now on requip and fentanal patches 100 and clonazapam and find that works better then the lyrica for me, i also got aggressive and agitated on the higher dose, i find its a drug that works well at a low dose but as you are on long term your body gets used to that and you go up and thats when the side effects like weight gain and aninxty, but the weight gain was the worst for me, i feel more foggy off it and less with it but then i've been dx with meniere's disease and suffering from ve
867787 tn?1318936230 I saw my PCP today & calmly confronted him on my lack of care. He ordered a MRI of my brain & cervical spine but have to check & see which hospitals offer financial aid programs & I'm also still hoping the MSAA comes through. He prescribed me Cymbalta & said it was good for nerve pain. I was wondering if any of you have tried this & if so did it help & are there any side effects I should be aware of?
Avatar f tn i took neuronton for fibro and was good for restless leg syd my dose went up to 3 300 milligram a day i went into bipolar swings from happy to sad within hours 2 pills no side effects 3 total mental illness same thing with lyrica its cousin.
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar f tn Her RLS was being treated with a very high dose of Requip but has recently been switched to something else; some sort of patch. Nothing is working. Her life is a very sad story due to the mental illness. She lives in a nursing home because she had a stroke 4 years ago which left her somewhat physically and congnitievly (sp) impaired, and because of the mental illness she can become difficult. I am not able to provide her with the care and attention she deserves.
907968 tn?1292622204 A beta blocker like Coreg or Antenolol is usually started with a very small dose as the effects can be huge when starting out. For example, I was given 3.175mg Coreg X 2 daily, and the effects were strong. After a couple weeks, my body got used to it so that was doubled, and doubled again until I was taking 50 mg daily. That proved to be too much so my dose is now 25 mg daily. The same procedure is usually followed with ACE and Calcium blockers.
Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn Yes, I often recommend clonidine during withdrawals. I also suggest gabapentin, Requip, Seroquel low dose, and Soma if you can get it. Varerian and magnesium are useful as well. It is hard to do it by yourself, so if you run into trouble, read my blogs or look on my clinic website for more info. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your responses. I've been taking the cal/mag supplement since starting detox. A few years ago I was taking Requip for RLS. I'm starting to think it may be the lack of exercise. Before this last triple fusion I was a gym rat. At this point I'm lucky to get a ten or fifteen minute walk in each day because I'm having so many problems with my back. Seeing my surgeon tomorrow to discuss this development. (narcotics are not an option!!!
Avatar f tn Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it.
984138 tn?1359813073 I twitch all over too. I have tried to limit caffeine intake & evrything else but nothing helps. Mine is worse when I'm relaxed & especially at night. Its not painful & after a while (believe it or not) you kinda get used to it. I take requip for restless leg & that slowed it down for a while but it never went away, I started zanaflex at the same time so it could have been that too.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
Avatar m tn I have been having a really hard time going number 2. Has anyone else had this problem? It is starting to freak me out. I sometimes go a few weeks without going. Please help.
Avatar n tn I am one month into the process and I taking 1/3 of my prior methadone dose. I am now starting to have increasing sweats, chills and nausea. I can only hope that I will see this through to the end. I had tried gabapentin years ago and found that I was so sleepy I could not function. I think the physician had not considered a low enough dose of methadone and probably too high a dose of gaba and the combination resulted in me sleeping 20 hours a day.
Avatar n tn I attributed this to the combination of Wellbutrin + Remeron for five weeks (they increase the activity of the other, probably causing a build up over a four to six week period), though a rebound from the recent d/c of Requip may have contributed too. After six days of 1/2 dose Remeron, I quit it entirely. Wellbutrin alone had worked for months initially, now seven months later, having tried several Antidepressants, I wanted off everything.
Avatar n tn is there a typical dose for starting levothyroxine.....or is it based on weight.....and how often do you check thyroid and what "mcg" amount do you increase or decrease by????
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
230948 tn?1235844329 hi,i have taken requip and i am taking mirapex...mirapex beats requip by a mile...mirapix is really good ...i sound like a comercial..lol...take care ...
Avatar f tn starting at a clinic I was up to 90 milligrams and then started seeing a doctor that prescribed me 80 milligrams a day. During my time seeing the doctor I brought my self down to 30-40 milligrams a day. Then my doctor told me I was having to be discharged and so I brought my self down to 10 milligrams a day, which I did for about two weeks, and then I ran out of my script.
