I need to get off aand people tell me soboxon is the only way but that is addictive. I want to stp on my own. Also have restless leg syndrome. Will requip help with that? Wha can i do?
Took the iron pills, values went up, symptoms did not abate. Had intensive work up with endocrinologist, sent by GYN. Cortisol, catecholamines, other adrenal tests.Only noticeable result was low dopamine. They took this result with little concern.
Finally diagnosis of RLS 10/07 Started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED.
Was at 2 mg nightly. At first small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. This at end 1/08.

It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive!
On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help.
If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Anyone have experience with using neurontin for opiate w/ds? My dr. just prescribed me some. They're sitting at the pharmacy ready to pick up, just wondering. P.S. this is the same dr. that has been seeing me through a suboxone taper. I'm down to .25mg. and going to be "jumping" in about 3 wks. P.P.S. I've already got some supplies from the Thomas Recipe: multi-vitamin/mineral and potassium pills.
Hi all i have been on codeine for about 3 years and found myself just popping 12 to 16 pills at night along with the pills i took throughout the day. My question is this i have been clean now for 3 weeks of going cold turkey and yes it was hell but i have done it, but its left my with what i can only describe as Restless leg syndrome!! is this going to last for the rest of my life of will it sort itself out over time?
I do know many have used Requip for RLS and it is non addictive. Vicodin gives you a false sense of security. When i was using in the beginning i had energy that wouldnt quit but towards the end i became depressed and had no energy. Only you can answer the question of being addicted. I would talk to your doctor and ask him what you have asked here. Hopefully you can get off these as those pills are sneaky and your dosage will increase.
Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0.
Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too?
I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
If you have a doctor I would go that route. Losing sleep because of RLS is going to keep you thinking about the pills. It did for me, at least. Congrats on getting clean!
It is possible that your brain is making the normal pain worse as the pills kept it from having to work. Give it another month to see how the pain is. Many have reported that it got better after a settling out period.
i have tried sleepy tea, sleeping pills, and muscle relaxors, but i just cant seem to put these legs to rest. is this just mental stuff, or is it gunna be awhile before i can fall asleep sober again? im going crazy with no sleep!!
Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
I am a single mother of 2 beautiful boys and become so depressed dont feel like getting out of bed and just want to sleep my life away. My question is once I have stopped taking these horrible pills, what do I do about my restless legs as it makes me feel like ripping my limbs off. Iv tried all the medication for it but nothing helps.
Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
