Common Questions and Answers about Requip pd

requip

Avatar f tn time I am struggling to breathe and feel I am suffocating. My neurologist has me on Sinemet, Requip, Amantadline and Comtan. She added a carbo/levo tablet this past week that dissolves on the tongue. .i have not seen anywhere that debilitating shortness of breath is associated with Parkinson's. My neurologist thinks that this breathing distress is due to the wearing off of my meds although these episodes can happen randomly. Nedless to say it is affecting my quality of life.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
Avatar f tn In 2007 I was also diagnosed by my neurologist with PD - especially since the tremors I have are one-sided and I have other symptoms not typical of MS - like near loss of smell, etc. I moved cities and my new neurologist agrees that I have both although in 25+ years of practice, I'm his first patient with both.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar n tn s own, who knows exactly what happened. A lot of men with pd also have some psychological things going on because of the pd and this is also known to affect things. Not sure if that factored into the month of orgasms. I personally think this is a good wake up call for you that maybe you'd like to solve the pd issue. They treat this in a variety of ways and am sure you'd be a candidate since you basically can't have a normal erection/orgasm with the pd. Everyone deserves a sex life!
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
Avatar m tn With results supported by previous research examining vitamin D and PD, the researchers “found that PD patients have a higher prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency compared with patients with AD and healthy controls”. They called for future research to address whether vitamin D supplementation would improve PD symptoms.
Avatar m tn There is no definitive test for PD. Since the diagnoses is made objectively, yes it can be wrong. While involuntary muscle movements are a sign of PD, they are also a sign of nerve compression related to Chiari. An example of this is a lady who had her decompression surgery the same day as my daughter..... She had Parkinson type movement of her head (involuntary head doddle) which was relieved by her surgery. She had that symptom for years!
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
Avatar f tn I'm almost exactly on the same days as you! My last PD was January 6th. I have a 28 day cycle, and was supposed to start February 3rd. I've had on and off cramps all week. I'm feeling my PD is just late. We all know our bodies better than anyone else. If you feel like you might be pregnant. I would go get your blood drawn to see for sure. I'm on cycle day 34 and have never went this long without my PD.
Avatar f tn Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!
Avatar n tn 2 months later, dyskinesia occurred in tongue/jaw, drooling returned. Sinemet dosage then was decreased to 2 per day 25/250 (9am, 2pm), Requip 0.125 (9pm). Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem.

Avatar n tn The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.
