Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Hi there. There are certain concerns for people with parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome taking ropinirole. Requip causes sedation, fainting, light headedness, dizziness particularly in patients with heart disease. hallucinations is reported but in people with parkinson’s taking requip, rarely in people taking it for restless leg syndrome like your dad and more commonly in elderly taking requip in combination with levodopa.
replacing dopamine can help rls//but ask ur dr/being an addict/meaning this condition should recover with time vs other causes of rls/feeding ur brain more dopamine via requip may not be the best route...ask ur dr...be honest..many have this and it is not drug related///stats r that those who work out and r active r less likely to suffer rls during detox as their work outs etc produce the endorphins they need to avoid rls...

Had very low ferritin/iron at the time.Took the iron pills, values went up, symptoms did not abate. Had intensive work up with endocrinologist, sent by GYN. Cortisol, catecholamines, other adrenal tests.Only noticeable result was low dopamine. They took this result with little concern.
Finally diagnosis of RLS 10/07 Started Requip.
I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night. Now I'm finding that my right leg is SERIOUSLY worse than the other leg, and I can't even sit for more than 15 minutes without having to move around and stretch and the whole nine yards. This, after taking all my meds. I don't know what to do, isn't 4 mg. kind of a large amount of Requip?

Anyone have experience with using neurontin for opiate w/ds? My dr. just prescribed me some. They're sitting at the pharmacy ready to pick up, just wondering. P.S. this is the same dr. that has been seeing me through a suboxone taper. I'm down to .25mg. and going to be "jumping" in about 3 wks. P.P.S. I've already got some supplies from the Thomas Recipe: multi-vitamin/mineral and potassium pills.
I wake up whether it is from a nap or in the middle of the night and I can not move my body. I can not talk or breath. My eyes are open and I am where I fell asleep. After a little while I black out and when I finally wake up I feel exhausted and have a blurry memory of what happened.
One time I was having a nap with my boyfriend and it happened. I was looking right at him but he didn't wake up.
Her RLS was being treated with a very high dose of Requip but has recently been switched to something else; some sort of patch. Nothing is working. Her life is a very sad story due to the mental illness. She lives in a nursing home because she had a stroke 4 years ago which left her somewhat physically and congnitievly (sp) impaired, and because of the mental illness she can become difficult. I am not able to provide her with the care and attention she deserves.
I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
The only thing I can recommend is hot baths and a heating pad on your calves.
If you are on day 4, then it should be gone by tomorrow.

I'm not,I'm relly tired because the last 2 nights I have had RLS in my legs relly bad that I could not sleep.When I first started my c/t withdraws I had them so bad I just cried everynight,nothing seemed to help.I am 78 days clean today[thanks to you all] but 2 nights ago they hit again.Is it normal after so many clean days to creep up and hit again?
I am not sure what I have. For the past few months, I have severe burning and joint pain at night and in my knees in the day.
My doctor said it is restless leg syndrome and gave me Lyrica??????
No better, it is increasing nightly to where I no longer can sleep.
Please help me if you can.

dang, 15 days clean and still im not getting real sleep and still got RLS!! i have tried sleepy tea, sleeping pills, and muscle relaxors, but i just cant seem to put these legs to rest. is this just mental stuff, or is it gunna be awhile before i can fall asleep sober again? im going crazy with no sleep!!
2 months later, dyskinesia occurred in tongue/jaw, drooling returned. Sinemet dosage then was decreased to 2 per day 25/250 (9am, 2pm), Requip 0.125 (9pm). Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem.
