Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
487070 tn?1313665952 According to my Nuerologist studies have shown that it can happen during the day as well but they group into one PLMD. Before medication I would get short bursts of twitching (arms, upper leg area, with a strong sensation it felt like my stomach muscles were involved too) that felt like electrical shocks each time I had them. Sometimes near 100 a day? (well, let's just say a whole LOT lol) Dozens at least. It lasted only a secong but it hurt!
Avatar n tn Patients on levodopa can have various symptoms associated with the wearing off of the medication (such as before the next dose), at the peak of the medication, or in-between. These fluctuations can be treated with alternating the dosing interval or dose or adding additional agents (such as requip, which is already added). I cannot tell you how to dose the medications, but I would suggest discussing these with your mother’s physician.
Avatar n tn My RLS is in high gear about 4 days before and 4 days after the full moon. I had been on Requip for about 2 years and although it was helpful, those 8 days the medication did not seem to help. My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine. Unfortunately, I had to switch during the last full moon and really did not get but a couple hours of sleep for 3 days.
Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
Avatar n tn s a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. I would like to be able to go out with my friends and be able to have a few drinks for my birthday but I'm scared of the interaction with all this medication and alcohol. What could possibly be the side effects of mixing all of these.
1390101 tn?1281000559 i would keep taking a magnessium+calcium+potassium suplemment and the Hylands restful legs before bedtime and taking a hot bath with epsom salts..... maybe as you are not on the anti anxiety medication any more, you could try valerian root until you feel better about it, again it is non addictive and when i felt better i had no problem stopping it along with the melatonin.
Avatar f tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. Clonidine is very helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
Avatar n tn But on Wellbutrin or Remeron, RLS returned and was intolerable at 300mg Wellbutrin mornings + 30mg Remeron nightly, so I got on Requip. This is a very effective RLS solution taken at bedtime, but the next day RLS returns with a vengenance. At 1mg/night, Requip produced anxiety so we reduced to 0.5mg. Afterr four weeks severe anxiety returned becoming worse each day for five days.
Avatar m tn A newer agent for the same thing, Requip, is being pretty heavily promoted right now and may work better for some people. The anti-seizure medication Gabapentin, also known as Neurontin, can work. So can Klonopin, a benzodiazapene tranquilizer from the same class as Valium, but it can be habit forming. If a medication is the only thing that solves the problem, I say fine. But try the natural route first, and let me know how it works for you.
Avatar m tn There is a medication called Requip that can be very helpful with RLS for the few month after the acute withdrawals. Ask a physician to prescribe it for you. Also try Magnesium 400 mg in the evening as well. It is over the counter and can be quite helpful. I am so proud of you.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
691935 tn?1421027090 I can't live without Requip for RLS. It is way worse after treatment than it was before. I used to be able to get to 7 pm before the crawling and twitching began. Now it's hitting around 4:30 - 5 pm, just as I'm finishing work. I found that making sure my feet are warm helps a lot until the Requip kicks in. Someone (an old nurse who favors homeopathics) also suggested unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar in water 2x a day for restless leg.
Avatar m tn It's associated with kidney problems, pregnancy, and iron deficiency. And you don't have to be anemic to be low enough on iron to experience RLS. If you have restless legs, you should have your serum ferritin checked: This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia. If it's below 30, supplement with iron for two months.
Avatar f tn Another great medication you should ask your doctor about is clonidine. This can help with the anxiety associated with the withdrawal. These two medications helped me greatly when I was going through withdrawal myself. I don't know if I could have done it without them.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
