Avatar f tn Also, eating anything with protein that will be absorbing at the same time as the med risks the med not being able to cross the blood brain barrier. Protein uses the same transporters and they are limited at that level - as in first come first served. Sorry, this is probably more info than you cared to have, but I didn't want to just suggest Sinemet without the helpful hint. You are right, the options get fewer as time goes on. By the way, what is your Ferritin level?
230948 tn?1235844329 hi,i have taken requip and i am taking mirapex...mirapex beats requip by a mile...mirapix is really good ...i sound like a comercial..lol...take care ...
Avatar n tn Has anybody had success with requip? If so, what dosage of requip worked for you? They have .25, .5, 1.0, and 2.0. Do you take the medicine at night only or during the day too? I really appreciate your help. I made it 14 days off hydros last year, but the RLS was agonizing and I gave in. I want to do EVERYTHING I can to help ease this upcoming hell.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried Requip for Restless Legs while trying to detox off of Subutex or Suboxone? This is the worst part for me in trying to get off of Subutex & I am literally scared sh**less of them. I had them so bad that I almost over-dosed on Klonopin & Somas (from a family member) to rid myself of them. I am on less than 1 mg of Subutex a day now & having anxiety & diarrhea. That I can handle, but the RLS I can not. Any advice or experience would be great!
Avatar n tn Still hate RLS! I finally went to the doctor to get something to stop it. There are some good meds that are not addictive and do work. The one that still helps me is carbidopa ER. It is a parkinson's med, but I only take 2 to stop the RLS. Someone with parkinson's must take about 36 a day, so the side effects at my level are nil.
479581 tn?1317757488 I was watching Mad Money last night and learned that a new drug for fibro called Savella has been approved and should be available by March. It's an SSRI type of med and (oh happy day!!!) weight gain was not listed as a side effect.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn But you could go get some a rx called Requip from your dr..it is specifically for that..also did you use any supplements when you went cold turkey?? potassium for rls..etc.. eagle pretty much covered it..it's not a bed of roses..but it won't last forever..good luck and keep posting..
445838 tn?1205786577 I did use them during my WD but I think it set me back in my recovery. Any prescription med is going to be addictive. I know the not sleeping and RLS is horrible during wd but you don't want to have to go through it again to get off ambien or any other sleep med.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
Avatar f tn Hi, as with any med, everyone is different. I tried it in the past, and it made my head CRAZY! It was like I couldn't stop the chatter in my own head. Racing thoughts and anxiety, bleh! But I also know others for whom it has worked. Just wanted to share my experience in case it gets loud in your head. Best of luck!!
7091144 tn?1387989943 I have restless leg and tried all the different RL drugs (Requip etc...) and none worked. I was finally given a prescription drug to try called clonidine which is actually a blood pressure drug that has been around for a long time. NOTE it is CLONIDINE NOT klonipine. I later found out that this same drug is helpful when going through withdrawal. It is a prescription med but your GP or family doc might be willing to help you out by prescribing this. The dosage I take for my restless leg is .
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
487070 tn?1313665952 When experiencing augmentation, the movements intruded into when I was semi-awake, or at least aware of the movements. That stopped when I stopped the med. Mirapex and Requip are very similar meds, both called dopamine agonists, and they work by kinda tricking the brain into as if it has the right amount of dopamine. (OK, I know that description is very nonscientific - sorry.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar n tn s hard to bear but it will get better. Take as hot of a bath as you can stand and soak as long as you can. That helps. The Dr gave me requip That's for RLS. I took it before I got on the pills. Take magnesium also. Eat bananas. DO NOT give up!!! Stay with the form and vent as much as you need, we are here for you.
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar n tn i have had the whole body twitches as I call them for about 4 months now.The only thing I have changed is a Med.(Zolpidem Tartate 5mg for sleeping and also Anetol or Zolofft.Would that be any reason for the twitch?
Avatar f tn I'm glad you found something that worked. RLS was the worst for me too. Ropinirole is sold in the US as Requip. It was originally prescribed for Parkinson' Disease and then it was discovered that it works for RLS. Keep going forward. It will be over soon.
691935 tn?1421027090 Cold (air) on your legs can help a bit, but what really works is a small dose of a pain pill (narcotic) The only non-narcotic pain med that I found to work is Ultram (Tramadol). It is by rx as well. There are some meds that are made just for Restless Leg Syndrome that you may want to talk to your doc about. It's horrible as I suffer from it as well.
