Common Questions and Answers about Requip it

requip

Avatar f tn Dear Kat, I do know that taking Requip itself can cause hallucinations. But he's been taken off it. Now, stopping Requip can cause confusion. So, I don't know what to make of it. I do recall when I had pneumonia, I was out of my mind, and I have never taken Requip. I suppose it's possible he's having a combination of fever hallucinations, left-over Requip hallucinations, and withdrawal confusion. Any way you look at it, he's having a very hard time.
230948 tn?1235844329 I am on Requip for Restless Leg Syndrome, which I learned alot of Fibro sufferers have, and I love it! It also helps tremendously with my terrible foot pain I have in the day. I can't do without it! This is one of the few meds I haven't had any adverse effects from either. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn He determined this to be rare side effects from Requip. Took me off straightaway. I hated that because it worked so well, but side effects were intolerable. This as of April 28th. Was started on Sinemet. Was told this does not work as well as Requip, but was less likely to have same side effects. Said he could add darvocet if necesary. Also take ativan 1mg 3 x daily since the brain surgery, and 1-2 at night for help with sleep. Every other sleep aid made above symptoms worse.
Avatar f tn Have had following symptoms, increasing frequency since 11/05. Background:50F.5/05 Resection meningioma right parietal. 09/05 diagnosed Hashimotos Hypothyroid. Synthroid.137 TSH 1.87 FT4 1.40.10/07 neuro diagnosed RLS. Besides known rls symptoms had/have morning symptoms. Awakened early AM startled, stressed,wired/ tired, sense of dread, shaky, jumping out of skin, adrenaline rush. Difficult to describe, determined not panic attacks. Somewhat relieved getting up to move around.
620048 tn?1358018235 It does sound nutty to think Requip could be associated with gambling compulsion. I Googled this and it's true. It's been known for at least the past 2 years. However, I'm sure the incidence of this is tiny compared with number of users. I agree, we have enough hassles without having to worry about gambling!
Avatar f tn Going off these meds abruptly can cause neurological problems. I did it two years ago and still have issues from it. I too have been on both of these meds and have had similar issues. Have you been on Sinemet yet? Requip and Mirapex are dopamine agonists, but Sinemet is a dopamine replacement and is best reserved for when the agonists no longer work. SinemetCR worked for me for a few years before the side effects outweighed the decreasing benefits.
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar n tn replacing dopamine can help rls//but ask ur dr/being an addict/meaning this condition should recover with time vs other causes of rls/feeding ur brain more dopamine via requip may not be the best route...ask ur dr...be honest..many have this and it is not drug related///stats r that those who work out and r active r less likely to suffer rls during detox as their work outs etc produce the endorphins they need to avoid rls...
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!
Avatar f tn Just gave 2 excedrine pm.. Does anyone know how much Requip needed?
Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
Avatar f tn Make sure you eat something with it though or it will make you puke. I didn't eat with it and puked about 3 times and I maybe allergic to it cause it broke my neck and face out in a really bad rash!
Avatar n tn 125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore? Also, is any effective way to help her fall/stay in sleep?
Avatar n tn The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.
Avatar n tn I was reading your post and was wondering what your withdrawing from and how long has it been? I am a bit concerned that you are using valium, requip, morphine, etc... If your w/d off of opiates, then why use the morphine? Just an opinion, and you can tell me to shove it, that's o.k., but do you think it's the best idea to w/d using other drugs? Kind of defeats the purpose, don't you think?
Avatar f tn Well, I'm wearing a 24 hr EKG monitor. They took me off the requip and said it could be as simple as that medication. But they are doing lots of tests. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I need to get off aand people tell me soboxon is the only way but that is addictive. I want to stp on my own. Also have restless leg syndrome. Will requip help with that? Wha can i do?
Avatar f tn I have RLS, and I have the painful kind, where my legs hurt all the time, I take codeine for it. Lots of things do trigger RLS and make it worse, but I have no idea how the thyroid works with that. There is an rls.org website that has a list of stuff that can make RLS worse. Remember "worse" is generally temporary, like a lot of standing one day will make your legs hurt more for a while, until you've had a chance to rest.
1390101 tn?1281000559 I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
514273 tn?1311609635 Hardest part of my previous detoxing was getting pass the RLS. Even with the Requip, it was rough that first night. Instead of my legs shaking...it was my arms. I would have passed as a really good "air" boxer. The submoxone helped alot. It curb alot of the craving, but I only had three 8mgs. I'm out of those right now and the w/d's coming back. It look like it's going to be a rough night. Good luck to all that are still fighting the good fight.
Avatar f tn i am not a nurse..but I do know that you can take Requip with pain meds.I took it and my husband currently takes it..He also takes plenty of Norco and Percs..The Requip works very well for him..he suffers from RLS pretty bad ..He has no side effects from it and takes it at bedtime..@10 pm..and he gets up for work @5am..he doesn't feel groggy or anything...you should give it a try..especially when you are in w/d.. If your taking anything else..
Avatar f tn i have taken 2 mg of requip for 2 nights I started slow but my legs are still jumping
Avatar n tn My RLS is in high gear about 4 days before and 4 days after the full moon. I had been on Requip for about 2 years and although it was helpful, those 8 days the medication did not seem to help. My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine. Unfortunately, I had to switch during the last full moon and really did not get but a couple hours of sleep for 3 days.
