requip

Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
Avatar f tn yet, so Im not sure what is involved with that) and hopefully I can get some requip from my Dr., Thank you for the info. I have been writing down some of the advice so that I can try to be prepared for those horrible, scary W/D's.
Avatar n tn well...i can give u a bit of info on rls...dunno if it will help;;;always helps me to know the cause of mt dilemna an addict has been feeding their brain with outside endorphins/then they stop/the brain freaks out but will adjust to make the endorphins again//the brain is a finely tuned organ...it sensed the outside supply...and quit or cut down on production/mainly dopamine have u any knowledge of parkinsons? the jerks and twitches they have? parkinsons is caused from a lack of dopamine...
Avatar n tn Yes, I often recommend clonidine during withdrawals. I also suggest gabapentin, Requip, Seroquel low dose, and Soma if you can get it. Varerian and magnesium are useful as well. It is hard to do it by yourself, so if you run into trouble, read my blogs or look on my clinic website for more info. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar f tn I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night. Now I'm finding that my right leg is SERIOUSLY worse than the other leg, and I can't even sit for more than 15 minutes without having to move around and stretch and the whole nine yards. This, after taking all my meds. I don't know what to do, isn't 4 mg. kind of a large amount of Requip?
Avatar f tn This result met with little concern. After diagnosis RLS 10/07 started Requip. Worked like magic from first .Actual RLS symptoms abated, bad wakings CEASED. Was at 2 mg nightly. End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.
Avatar n tn I have been to two doctors that have been no help so far. If you could give me any helpful info I would really appreciate it..
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
Avatar f tn Today was my big 10! I feel great. I do still have my rls but I take Requip at night and it makes me sleep like a baby! Ready to watch some titans football tonight and leave for Florida vacation in two weeks!

Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
Avatar f tn Been pretty good besides two sleepless night do to restless leg. Went to doctor today and gave me requip for that so we will see how tonight goes. Best of luck to everyone out there! Say a prayer every chance you get for me!

Avatar n tn 2 months later, dyskinesia occurred in tongue/jaw, drooling returned. Sinemet dosage then was decreased to 2 per day 25/250 (9am, 2pm), Requip 0.125 (9pm). Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem.
Avatar n tn The only relief I get is with Requip. I have to keep it in my system. Of course I stay drowsy all the time and have occasional nausea. I have tried other drugs but none have worked. My neurologist said that they are from lesions in my spinal cord. My question is: has any one else experienced this and have they found relief from other means without the bad side effects? The jerking movements are very violent and I feel desperate at times. Please help if you can.

Avatar f tn I have had the same problem going on 6 yrs now, never knew how bad it actually was till my husband decided one night to video tape me in my sleep, I was astonished, finally found out why I felt like I ran a marathon every night, when I showed it to mt DR she put me on requip, it only helps when I sleep and not completely, my husband says I still kick in my sleep just not as fluently or as strongly, but day to day things are terrible, I can't take long trips in the car or go to the movies, an
