620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs, the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar n tn I started taking Requip last year for RLS. I just happen to mention to my doctor that I had leg pain during the night. She had given me a trial pack but left it at home when I went to my daughters for the weekend. I had only been taking it a few days and when I didn't have it to take I thought i was dying. It is like I am addited to this drug. I can't come off of it. I have started having shooting pains in my legs and find that I am having to take it more often.
667261 tn?1225473853 Help, this is my first post, I am a 49 year old male, I have had RLS since I was a child, after my marriage it starting getting really bad, after bouncing around from doctor to doctor, (this was years ago) I finally found a doctor that explained RLS. He first put me on Requip which was like a life saver, it worked great for several years. But of course like most drugs it slowly stopped working. He then added neuronton.
Avatar n tn replacing dopamine can help rls//but ask ur dr/being an addict/meaning this condition should recover with time vs other causes of rls/feeding ur brain more dopamine via requip may not be the best route...ask ur dr...be honest..many have this and it is not drug related///stats r that those who work out and r active r less likely to suffer rls during detox as their work outs etc produce the endorphins they need to avoid rls...
Avatar n tn My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine. Unfortunately, I had to switch during the last full moon and really did not get but a couple hours of sleep for 3 days. The beztropine seems to help, although I think I'm having some side effects from it. We are approaching the full moon again, so I'll see what this medication can/cannot do. Does anyone else have this problem?

Avatar n tn Hello team! I'm preparing for my big quitting day, October 1! I know some of you folks will question why I set a date, but I have learned from past experieinces that you have to plan for this challenge. My questions is, can anyone tell me what it means when something has "moderate in vitro affinity for opioid receptors"?? I want to try Requip for the terrible RLS I get during wihdrawals.
7091144 tn?1387989943 I have restless leg and tried all the different RL drugs (Requip etc...) and none worked. I was finally given a prescription drug to try called clonidine which is actually a blood pressure drug that has been around for a long time. NOTE it is CLONIDINE NOT klonipine. I later found out that this same drug is helpful when going through withdrawal. It is a prescription med but your GP or family doc might be willing to help you out by prescribing this. The dosage I take for my restless leg is .
Avatar f tn You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future. Take a look at my blogs about options for detox and recovery.

End 1/08 small weight gain, minor edema. Short of breath. Suddenly symptoms increased.Gained more than 25 lbs in 10 weeks.Feet/ ankles/ fingers/abdomen terribly swollen. All sorts of tests including kidney, liver, congestive heart failure. No answers. Back to  neuro.

Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Avatar f tn I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).

Avatar f tn They do have a pill which you can find at the drug store and you dont need a prescription called restless legs. Ask the pharmacist to find it for you. Also google it to learn more about it. Be well. ...Kim..
