I've got severe RLS 24/7 and have been taking Requip for the past several years, Mirapex before that. It's gotten worse lately so the doctor had me go cold turkey 5 days ago. He gave me Klonopin to take at night, but it doesn't do anything other than make me even more tired. I managed to get 6 hours sleep on day 4, but that's it for the whole week. The doctor says that I can't go back on the dopamines (Requip) since they have started augmentation (making the RLS worse).
ask your Dr. about clonodine..I have heard that it helps alot with some w/d symptoms..it's a blood pressure med ..also if you could get a rx for a weeks worth of Valium..that will also help..ither than that..nutrition/tons of water/a good mind set..will all benefit you..You will be ok..and get through this..i am gald you made a decision..'many of us can't taper because it takes so much will power which addicts generally don't have,,..I also have some good info in my journal..
I have taken 3 baths, laid in the floor with an electric blanket and heating pad wrapped around my leg. I just took my 2nd Requip pill for the night. Slathered my leg with the cream I bought.
What usually works is not. If this would go away I would fall asleep like that. Right now I am holding my leg straight up in the air. I am so tired.
Just whining. This is killing me. Plus I am sneezing tons and really gassy. Stomach is fine.
our father who is 78 is starting to hallucinate he was hospitalized about a month ago for pneumonia.he was also taking requip for his restless legs,the doc. took him off of requip because of side affects 4 days ago. we dont know if that could be the cause of his condition or not,he also had a cat scan of the brain, it was normal.he sees people that are not there, he realizes later that it is not real. he is getting depressed and scared,we dont know what to do anymore.
You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation.
The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future.

I also like chelated magnesium for muscle relaxation.
But, seriously, he must be completely committed to the goal of quitting.
m on day 9 from Oxycodone, and had an attack of RLS and restless spine today which was driving me crazy. My doc prescribed me Clonidine (an old blood pressure med), and it usually helps I suffer from chronic pain and took Gabapentin out of desperation, as well, and things calmed down,

My RLS is in high gear about 4 days before and 4 days after the full moon. I had been on Requip for about 2 years and although it was helpful, those 8 days the medication did not seem to help. My health care company decided that Requip is no longer a formulary drug,so I have switched to benztropine. Unfortunately, I had to switch during the last full moon and really did not get but a couple hours of sleep for 3 days.
t able to talk it felt like my body had a lot of pressure on it. But I would not say I was in any pain. I just kept going conscious and then blacking out repeatedly. When I finally get up I feel sorta confused and disoriented. Is this damaging in any way? Im worried I may not wake up one time.
I know that my mother has problems sleeping and my grandfather sleeps with a machine because he has a problem where he stops breathing while he sleeps. I don't know much more then that about it.
Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
Had hyperactive thyroid nodules and this summer had RAI treatment to shut down the nodule. Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried. I take Requip (ropinirole) for RLS but it is not a total relief of it.
s a day, 80 mg of celexa, 150 mg of welbutrin sr, 30 mg of abilify, and 1 mg of requip. I would like to be able to go out with my friends and be able to have a few drinks for my birthday but I'm scared of the interaction with all this medication and alcohol. What could possibly be the side effects of mixing all of these.
i had all over muscle cramps right after getting on tx . my blood ct was very low. i had to start procrit. dr also gave me requip, really helps on legs! i am taking fe 3xday and folic acid. 1xday. mag 3xday. finally my cramps have subsided pretty much, except every now n then leg cramps, but i do have muscle spasms in shoulders everyday. take a soma when can't take them, spasms, anymore. i do take requip every night can't take all body cramps!!!
In Feb of 2012 I got this bite looking thing on my neck. I went to urgent care and my doctor looked at it. Suddenly, I almost pass out, blood pressure tanks, so I lay down. She thinks she palpated the spot that slows the heart. For an hour, each time I sit, my blood pressure drops and eventually I go to the er by ambulance. They load me up with fluids and antibiotics and no one knows what happened.
Clonidine will help stabilize your blood pressure and help with the creepy-crawly feeling that you are having. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
